That reminds me.. .once I get the rear coils on, and the strut bars all in, I'll take pics of my car w/ the new seats and such, and post them in my pics thread.

BTW, where the f**k do you get black primer from? or should I just use flat black paint? this is getting redix.. I go to like 16 stores around here, and they all have gray and white primer, no black tho. (One even had red primer)

FrodoGT

Its flat black paint, not primer. use the darkest primer you can find, gray should do it.

Oh btw..the y8 I went to buy today was sold yesterday...I swear im never gonna find an engine *cry*

Christ
11-29-2007, 11:50 PM
ouch.... that sucks...

Can you deal w/ just a Y8 head on another block? I know you said you wanted the long block, but would you settle for just the head if it was cheap enough? I have a friend that has a friend :P He may still have it... and I need a D17 crank

and I know I've used black primer before, but flat black paint will be fine... do I really need to primer under it? I'm just going to spray it down w/ a piss can of paint, no clear or anything. I dunno if I'm actually going to use paint remover or not before spraying it, but I'm def going to give the stock sh!t a good scratch up before spraying it.

FrodoGT
11-29-2007, 11:57 PM
I would much prefer the whole longblock, I wanna do it right from the start and for the money im putting in I want to see 180+hp

Christ

Understandable, so I'll leave that topic off-key then :P

However, I still need a D17 Crank :P

Whadya think?
http://orlando.craigslist.org/pts/451154582.html

I like the paint and such, but if need be I strip the engine, tranny, some interior pieces like the cargo shelf and maybe some other pieces and junk it. If the paint is good and I deem the wiring etc to be good then I have my self a pretty new car. Its been on there for awhile now. I figure when I have the money in a few weeks I could try lowballing him. Hell, its a y8 and si tranny.

you can't complaine for $850 when it has the y8 you want.

we just traded a good y8 (it's compression was 180 on all) for a b18. no good reason other than our friend wanted to ditch out on his b project for a y8. then somebody gave us a b16 tranny and HASport mounts when Jer started a wiring job for somebody......kharma is my friend :grinno:

Christ
11-30-2007, 11:53 AM
damn dude.. I'd pay $850 for that... could sell half the crap in the car that I wouldn't keep anyway for at least $400... seats, acura ECU, etc.. def a good buy there, specially w/ the Y8 and Si tranny in it.

DO IT!! :p

And BTW, if a girl named Dana or Kim ownz that car, tell her Chris said Hi... lmao.. she'll pry charge you more for it :P (ex-ex-ex from a while back)

I dont mess with them, not yet. :P I just was very dissapointed when after 2 1/2 years my crx with multiple bolt ons and upgrades laid down a pathetic 16.0 best time. I figured this time id go boost, but its out of my price range to do a b series swap AND full turbo setup. Im not just using some crappy fmu.

3:00 I make the run to Wendy's for the group's hangover meal. All is well and calm.

4:00 I get ready to go home only to find my car is now a giant block of ice. Drivers side doors stuck closed behind one giant ice sheet. Windshield wipers useless under a thick blanket of frozen slush. All windows and both headlights blurred behind a wavy layer of caked on ice.

Chicago winter has officially begun :(

This is my hall window. On a normal day its perfectly clear. But now it has an ice layer on it. This is exactly what it was like looking through my car windows before I scraped them with my credit card.

btw thats the street light in the picture, not the flash of the camera. Imagine how useless my new projectors became behind that :shakehead

00accord44

I don't mind snow, but I absolutely HATE having to drive in/through it. Plus people act like they've never seen the stuff when it hits the ground and traffic becomes insufferable. There's a crazy mix of idiots who think that black ice is a myth and end up crashing and causing delays. Then you throw in the idiots who refuse to drive over 15mph because they are so terrified of their car sliding off the road. Alls you gotta do is watch your speed, take it easy in corners and learn to feather your pedals so you maintain traction in accel/decel.

00accord44

yeah, I have no problems in snow, in fact, I like driving in it... simply for the fact that everyone else is so scared to, usually they won't drive unless they have to, which means less idiots on the road... like earlier today, coming home from the junkyard, some 80 year old douche decided that he didn't want me to get off the exit in front of him... so he gets right next to me, floors his chrysler new yorker (FWD style.. I think 80 something) and swerves toward my car w/ my (possibly pregnant) wife in the passenger seat... calmly, I slowed down.. if she hadn't been in the car, I'd probably have followed him home, and done something sadistic and twisted.

But these events are my life.. they happen every day.. welcome to it.

00accord44

What I hate the most is that I can't wash my damn car cause its below freezing all week, then when it finally warms up on the weekends its too sloppy outside to even bother. My car is covered in slosh and salt dust and there's not really anything I can do about it :(

Greenblurr93
12-02-2007, 11:33 AM
i dont like snow.... at all... because snow means salt on the roads.... and we all know wht salt does... anyway.. we're supposes to get 7+ inches today :(

00accord44

winter beater?? anyone? I mean... isn't that what they're for?

Although I suppose you'd wanna keep your paint from dinging up and your sheet from rusting... so yeah, it's usually a good idea to take opportunities during the early to mid fall to touch up the undercoating and such, make sure there are no exposed areas that moisture can get to, and during the winter, it's a good idea to keep the areas clean that are normally prone to rust. (That's the great part about owning a 20 year old car... you already know what to fight, and where the battle should take place.. )

00accord44
12-02-2007, 01:34 PM
I'm really thinking about investig in a mid 90s 4x4 for winter 2009. I should be able to find a Grand Cherokee for cheap around here. As for this year, I don't have the $$$ right now

Christ
12-02-2007, 01:37 PM
Heh.. I had originally thought about getting a Civic Wagon to strip, and modifying the 4wd system to fit on a sedan... 4wd in style.. but that won't be for a while yet.

00accord44
12-02-2007, 01:41 PM
That would be sweet to get the 4x4 and still sip gas, but I don't know if I could take cramming my 6'5 frame into a Civ all winter.

Christ
12-02-2007, 02:34 PM
it's something I've been thinking about for quite some time now, although the wagon's aren't easy to come by around here... and i"m only 5'7".. so no probs there.

FrodoGT
12-02-2007, 02:38 PM
meh, Ive still not found a person yet who cant fit into a 4g. In my crx they used to all ask how the hell I fit my 6' 1" self into it..till they got in and couldnt touch the pedals. Hell my crx had more headroom than my aurora, my hair would brush the headliner in the morning.

00accord44
12-02-2007, 03:57 PM
I do remember one time in high school when 5 people had to cram into a crx to make a run to walgreens. I found myself on the rear "bench" (if you can even call it that) with two other guys. Avg height of us was probably 6ft.

Not what I would call a comfortable trip, but it didn't kill us

FrodoGT
12-02-2007, 04:29 PM
yeah my friend rode in the back once along with the massive speaker box that took up all but the bench. Lowered crx=bumping head on glass.

The day I sold it I took the seats out to give it a real good cleaning and try to swap them out to my hatch. We took the car around the corner to air up the tires with no pass seat and my friend rode on the "bench". He was hanging onto the roof and literally lifted off the floor on 2 different corners..just hanging there sideways, now thats grip.
