I like the dog too, Wylie. I can't even spell the word "car" around my two dogs (Husky/Shepard mix and Rotweiller/something else really big mix)without them mauling me to go for a ride. My wife and I have to say things like "partake in and automotive journey". my two love to stick their heads out the window, and one will try to stick his head out the sunroof, but he'll crush my center console if he stands on it (he's 135 lbs).

I'm kind of lost when it comes to the fancy features that all the new cars have now, my friend has a '06 Caddy DeVille, its got this neat little feature where you dont have to hold down the ignition key to start the car, you just turn it and let it go and the starter still runs till the engine turns over, im trying to find out what that feature is called. i herd its only on GM cars newer than '04

Hey Mike, the Caprice is looking pretty sweet. For the most part, new-fangled means expensive when it breaks. It's not that difficult to hold the key to the crank position until the car starts, so that's an option they can keep (along with ABS and air bags as far as I'm concerned).

yeah its comming along great, thanks :) ha i know im not THAT lazy to have to hold down the key, its probably good for the old people though who cant use their fingers that much

Which climate control system do you have? You can only do that if you have the digital automatic climate control (ACC) system. GM PRO code CJ2. It is a feature of diagnostics mode.

To start the on-board diagnostics capability of the CJ2 ACC is not a toy to play with. The primary purpose is to troubleshoot the HVAC system without a scan tool if and when a problem develops. See link below.

BTW - In the future lets post these type things at the regular part of the Grand Prix tech forum. Off-Topic is intended to discuss anything else but our cars.

Just like to point out that tomorrow is Memorial Day in the U.S. which is when we are supposed to honor our war dead. Also, doesn't hurt to give thanks to the men and woman currently serving our country and the 20 million+ Veterans. :grinyes:
I salute them.
As Memorial Day approaches, it is time to pause and consider the
true meaning of this holiday. Memorial Day represents one day of
national awareness and reverence, honoring those Americans who died
while defending our Nation and its values. While we should honor these
heroes every day for the profound contribution they have made to
securing our Nation's freedom, we should honor them especially on
Memorial Day.
In this time of unprecedented success and prosperity throughout our
land, I ask that all Americans come together to recognize how fortunate
we are to live in freedom and to observe a universal ``National Moment
of Remembrance'' on each Memorial Day. This memorial observance
represents a simple and unifying way to commemorate our history and
honor the struggle to protect our freedoms.
http://www.usmemorialday.org/speeches/president/may0200.txt
He needs no eulogy from me or from any other man. He has written his own history and written it in red on his enemy's breast. But when I think of his patience under adversity, of his courage under fire, and of his modesty in victory, I am filled with an emotion of admiration I cannot put into words. He belongs to history as furnishing one of the greatest examples of successful patriotism. He belongs to posterity as the instructor of future generations in the principles of liberty and freedom. He belongs to the present, to us, by his virtues and by his achievements. In 20 campaigns, on a hundred battlefields, around a thousand campfires, I have witnessed that enduring fortitude, that patriotic self-abnegation, and that invincible determination which have carved his statue in the hearts of his people. From one end of the world to the other he has drained deep the chalice of courage.
As I listened to those songs [of the glee club], in memory's eye I could see those staggering columns of the First World War, bending under soggy packs, on many a weary march from dripping dusk to drizzling dawn, slogging ankle-deep through the mire of shell-shocked roads, to form grimly for the attack, blue-lipped, covered with sludge and mud, chilled by the wind and rain, driving home to their objective, and for many, to the judgment seat of God.
I do not know the dignity of their birth, but I do know the glory of their death.
They died unquestioning, uncomplaining, with faith in their hearts, and on their lips the hope that we would go on to victory.
Always, for them: Duty, Honor, Country; always their blood and sweat and tears, as we sought the way and the light and the truth.
I salute them.

Ummm! Yeah I guess it could be considering you can pull in $160 per day Rich. :grinyes:
Besides the pay I'm glad to be contributing to our country. Nice knowing you can help save American service member's lives based on the realistic training they get. Also, even help save lives of the local population since we cover rules of engagement (ROE).
One of the best or interesting times I had is when we opened our bases here up to the Royal Canadian military forces for about a month. They are slated to head to Afghanistan sometime in August with a NATO mission. One night we were waiting with IEDs, RPGs and small arms AK47 when they abruptly stopped about 100 meters short of the village we were hiding out in. Planned on an ambush per the scenario. Turned out they had thermal imaging (TI) in their LAVs (Light Armored Vehicle) which is like our Stryker and scanned us to pinpoint our locations. Of course, they cheated and were not supposed to use TI. Next thing you know we have at least two squads of Infantry with night vision goggles trying to out flank us and take us down. Everyone on my team were immediately captured or killed except me. I hugged a sand and Mesquite tree dune and I guess they failed to see me. Regardless, I was able to engage the convoy once it came into the village, detonate an IED and impose my political will on them. Then turned on them with my AK47 and we engaged in a hellacious firefight. In the end I was a KIA but we proved a point that it doesn't matter how good you think you are or well trained or equipped the enemy is still deadly. Hopefully they benefit and remember something from the training. I wish them good luck.

Quick off topic question.. Im trying to install a tach from GM Performance. It has a shift light however im not going to use it. I own a 1993 Pontiac GrandPrix. However.. I have a swap in it. It has a 3800 Serries II motor from a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix, not super charged. (Motor trany, wires, all). Pretty much making this a 02 gp. Now my question is.. Where do I connect the signal wire to, to get acurate rpm reading to my tach meter. Thank you very much, i have been searching everywhere!!

How's the Economy in your area.
Our property values have gone up and so has property taxes. :banghead: El Paso is one of the fastest growing cities/areas in Texas and the U.S now indicating the continuing popularity of the SunBelt regions.
Gas prices are down but not enough. :grinno: Unemployment is low. Due to the BRAC military alignment we are picking up approximately an additional 20,000+ troops to be an armored division. All brand new military facilities. With families maybe totaling 60,000 more people. New homes and developments is at an all time high as a result and it is waiting room only at the apartment complexes throughout the area.
Retail sales is above average for the U.S. due to the shoppers that come over from Mexico. We call Walmart JuarezMart.

Remember working on the older 4 cyl Ford rangers and recently saw an older '80s 4cylinder mustang, but I just have no idea why Ford would do this....
Why are there two spark plugs per cylinder on fords small 4 cylinder motor? Thats 8 plugs, 8 wires, and 2 coils just to tune up a 4 cylinder. It just makes no sence.
What exactly is the purpose of the two plugs per cylinder? More complete combustion, or just as a backup or failsafe in case one fouls out?

In Ford's utter brilliance, the intake and exhaust side plugs were different heat ranges, just to make looking up the part soooooo much fun!! I actually had a confused young customer ask for plugs and wires for a Ford Ranger with a straight 8 because of that design. The stupid part was he argued that it had to be a V-8 because it had 8 plugs and wires. I think I actually lost a couple of IQ points during that conversation trying to set him straight, :shakehead .

Thats nuts! Two different heat ranges?
"I'd like a set of plugs for my 1990 Ford Mustang 4 cylinder"
"would you like the intake or exhaust spark plugs, they are different heat ranges"
:lol2:
That is so stupid! Leave it to Ford Engineers..... If one spark plug cant ignite the charge efficiently, maybe they should redesign the intake and cylinder heads.

In a recent owner's survey, it was found that 93% of all Ford Trucks built since 1991 are still on the road today.....
The other 7% actually got their owners all the way home.
