Down here $2.93 - $2.97 for top tier Chevron regular unleaded. Supposedly the U.S. Department of Energy just released some bogus report. But I agree demand must be high. I've never seen so many big SUVs on the road compared to the past. I need to go jack slap some soccer mom driving one of those new ugly ass Tahoes. :banghead:
Geoff Sundstrom, a spokesman for motorist group AAA, said that "the information contained in [Wednesday's] DOE report, when taken together -- strong demand for gasoline, reduced domestic output due to a spate of refinery problems and lower imports -- mean the nationwide average price of self-serve regular will probably hit $3 per gallon in the next few days."
"They could possibly set a new all-time record high price before the end of the month," he said. AAA's Daily Fuel Gauge report pegged the latest average price for regular gasoline at $2.977.

The ones I want to pimp slap are the idiots commuting 50 miles one way in their Excursion/Tahoe/Hummer, and they're all alone. They don't own a boat/trailer and the closest to off-roading they've ever done is missing their driveway coming home from an all-nighter at the bar!!! The big-3 and oil execs are laughing all the way to the bank, pricks!!!!!

I don't know about the US but here gas tax is 75% so I don't see any incentive for the government to change.
I was looking at a BMW page where they converted a V8 to run on hydrogen saying it was a simple conversation that could be done to any combustion engine.
I don't know if you've ever heard of Stan Meyer he improved the method creating hydrogen 25yrs ago, refused to sell the technology to the Saudi's and was dead a month later.
Here he is just before he was killed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h75_TGiwg78

Good point Wylie.
Another thing I noticed is most of them are ugly as sin too. Driving a big SUV must be some insecurity related issue with them. There was a gal behind me at the motor bank this morning in an ugly ass Yukon but she was uglier than her SUV. :puke:
I would agree to an ad volarem tax on SUVs over a certain weight class either at time of sale or at the gas pump. Why should we pay for their decadence or ignorance.

Did you guys see the pictures/videos of the devastation in Kansas? It's amazing only 8 people died cosidering the entire town is flattened. My dad's ex-girlfriend was from Lawton, OK, and was chatting with him on the internet when that monster went through there in 1999. The first tornado from that outbreak was less than a mile from her house. These F-5 twisters are scary, that one in Kansas they say was a mile wide at the base with winds exceeding 250 mph.

That latest F5 in Kansas had a mind of it's own. It went right down Main Street and the width of it just happened to equal the width of the poor town. Big complaint from the liberal Governor is insufficient National Guard troops but FEMA did good. :screwy:
Having a basement or storm shelter is no doubt a way of life in Tornado Alley.

I was sunny in the morning when I when to work and sunny all day but when I got home I didn't recognize the place.
A tree feel over the garage and cover up the dog pen on the other side.
Wylie the dog was extra happy to see me come home that day.

:screwy: Thats crazy but I guess true. Man, if I lived in a place where tornadoes are common I'd definitely have one and probably turn it into a dual mode bomb shelter. Last I heard we still have nukes and ballistic missiles based in certain areas of Kansas.

Time for el presidente numb nuts to do something. They can start by lowering the frickin federal and state taxes on gasoline. :shakehead

$3.24 here. I was watching the evening news last night where they interviewed this stupid biatch who incidently drives a gas guzzling SUV admitting she only gets 12 mpg. She stated she is not changing her driving habits and will continue to drive her gas guzzling SUV no matter what the price is or will be. Stated she will not let the price of gas change her lifestyle. This is one prime example why we have gas prices going through the roof. There are at least a couple of million others just like her. These idiots need an attitude adjustment. :shakehead
There has not been any new refineries built in the U.S. for 30 years and the response from the oil companies was it is too expensive to build them and there are no plans to do so.

Wow, that is tragic. It's why I always say, racing (or high speed driving) is for the track, not the street. It reminds me of an accident up here at "the cruise" where a local legend died when his big-block t-bucket hit a curb and sheared a utility pole clean off 6 feet off the ground. He was street racing a motorcycle. I was about 50 yards away and the first to arrive at the smoldering wreckage to try to give assistance/first-aid. Both driver and passenger (the passenger was the owner of a local speed-shop) were killed instantly.

I'm doing some research on getting a circa '03 Mustang SVT Cobra. My poor son will get a loan at the end of this year for $30K with only 1% interest. All US Service Academy Cadets get this offer in their Junior year. He wants to get rid of his '02 Olds Alero GL2 in the process. SVTs hold excellent value so it may not be a bad decision versus investing the money. Plus it has the Eaton M112 supercharger. :grinyes:

In California they are impounding and seizing them (forfeiture) and crushing the street racing car with the owner watching. In Texas you go to jail for street racing and they impound the car. I am a firm believer that they need to crack down on reckless and unattentive driving. Right now, busting drivers that have had a drink or two is all the rage, but I'm sorry, someone blah-blah-blah'ing on there cell/reading the paper, steering with their knee while eating/drinking, etc... is WAY more dangerous than some poor dude that stopped and had a beer or two on the way home and blows a .08. The states that lowered their blood alcohol limits did it for revenue, not to make the roads safer.
If any of you are gamers out there, try playing a racing game while talking on the phone, then repeat the experiment after having a few drinks. I'll bet the farm that you'll do much better after drinking than while trying to carry a conversation on the phone.
I'm not condoning drinking and driving mind you, but the stats are skewed to make the goverments point. The penalties should be tiered to bust the people that are blotto and knew they were too drunk to get behind the wheel. And in case anyone is wondering, I don't drive drunk (although I have driven after having a couple, being honest here) and I've never been pulled over for DUI, just making an observation.

I strongly agree on that one with you there rich, just yesterday i was behind some stupid B***H yelling into her cell phone, making frequent lane changes and cutting people off (me including), i leaned on my horn and my friend gave her the finger. she was stopped at a red light next to me i felt like getting out, pulling the phone from her hand and stomping on it :screwy: anyways just wanted to see whats been going on here, i wont be here in this section of the forums that much anymore, i have since handed my GP down to my sister now and i use my caprice, i still miss the GTP power tho, o well ill see what i can get outta this big 5.0 305 V8 now, surprisingly its about the same on gas as my GTP was, around 20 - 24 mpg

Talking on a cellphone while driving is bad enough but I recently noticed idiot drivers, especially female, text messaging while driving. :screwy:

I do a little side work here and there, and had a funny one this weekend. A co=workers son has an 86 Cadillac Cimmeron (yes, you read that correctly) that was missing badly. He recently tuned it up himself, and then it started running badly a couple of months later. As I start working on it, 4 of the 6 plugs weren't even finger tight (removed them with just a socket and extension, two of the wires weren't seated all the way on the plugs, and 3 wires at the cap (yes, it still had a distributor in 86) including the coil wire weren't seated either. How did this car run for a couple of months before he brought it to me? sheesh!!! Some people should not be allowed to have tools. The tool police should confiscate all tools and slap a big "Parking Only" sign on the garage with a 1-800 number to call if you catch them with tools.

I second that Rich.
Man, I can't believe it premium gas under $3 per gallon. I wonder how long this will last and whether prices will continue to drop. :dunno:

I put premium in my bike, and got it for $2.83, regular was down to $2.60 (filled the GP up too), but reports from my delivery drivers say prices have been creeping up again today (one Speedway was back up to $2.99 again).

Welcome to AF.
Who on this forum is from San Antonio? I'm in El Paso. Personally, I can't stand Houston's weather - too high humidity. Also, the black gooey tar/oil that sticks to you at the beaches in Galveston. But it is the largest city in Texas and should be given credit for that. Overall I would promote the sovereign state of Texas as a whole.
We have it all. :grinyes:

I didn't comment on the actual post because I didn't want to beat up a new member, but I was a little confused as to what they were referring to also.
