Hey wylie, I'm going good. We've barely gotten any snow here this year, most of goes around us. Other than the last couple of days, it's been bitterly cold the last few weeks (wind chills in the -15F to -20 F). I guess it's to make up for the fact that I was still riding my Harley in January. I hate when winter is like this, no snow but bitterly cold.

Yeah Rich someone needs to kill that ground hog for giving bad advice for you guys up North. But he was on target for the South. I'm in short sleeves and we have been mid 60s - 70s. I took the Honda out this past weekend. Going to start early and get the GTP tuned for the drag strip. Maybe I can break the record I set for myself last August. Nice being able to use a low 13 second dial in for ET bracket racing when it is actually quicker.

I'll see what I can do this year Wylie. I have been under manned on my pit crew the last two years. Boys grew up and left home. However, you could always come down here and see it first hand. Nothing like the sights, sound and smell of a drag strip and real competition. Plus lots of other things to do here so it would make for a nice vacation.

Right now, the weather there in Texas sounds great. We're expecting another monster storm here over the next couple of days, but it'll probably miss us like all the others did. The last time we had a winter storm warning and they called for 8"-10" of snow, we got maybe an inch. I wouldn't mind one last big snowfall, then let spring arrive.
If I ever get to El Paso Bob, I'll be looking you up. The first round (or 2) will be on me. Too bad we're all so spread out, it'd be cool to have an AF get-together.

I still can't figure out how they come up with the gas prices. Do they use a "wheel of prices" or something? :screwy: Could you imagine if everything else was that way? AM, milk $2.29/gal, pm milk $2.69/gal, nest day $1.99/gal. It makes absolutely no sense. All we know for sure is that it's NOT price gouging according to our government.

The oil companies don't bitch when everything is peachy and they're raking in the dough, but let something happen and they jack prices to compensate. What gives???
Also, when is the government going to step in and limit these CEO salaries/bonuses, when the company they run is going under, laying off workers and shutting factories?

Hey Wylie...whats up? Speaking of old rice rockets I saw a cream puff 1971 Kawasaki 500 Mach III on a for sale forum. It was in a museum the past 30 years. Still looks new. Worth $20K now, collectors item. I bought mine for $999 off the showroom floor. It was the quickest bike back in those days until the Kawa 750 Mach IV came out.
Anyways here is the link to the AF Motorcycle forums. Choice of 3.

That comment was just a joke Bob. I wave to every bike I pass, regardless of make, and I recommend many Japanese bikes to new riders and loved my Honda Magna. They just pick on me with all their Harley jokes over there (many of them very funny and regrettably true from the Harley-AMF years), and I'm on my own to reply!! It's all in fun of course (an even "s" moderator girl has eased up on Harleys). Plus your "rice burner" is a dirt bike (and a VERY sharp one I might add), so it's an oil burner too, and is exempt. IF I could afford two bikes, I'd love to get my hands on a Honda VFR750/800 sport. They have the Sportbike look without the back breaking ergonomics, plus the single sided swingarm is way tech-cool. That Kawi Mach was a killer fast bike in it's day. A neighbor had one back in the day, and it was stupid fast, especially considering it's antique suspension and brakes. My dream "muscle bikes" back in those days (read pre-sportbike era) was the Kawi KZ900/1000, and later the Suzuki ES1150es. Both sharp looking, stupid fast machines with that attitude-look just sitting there. I also miss my CR250 dirt bike (it was an ex-factory tuned racer once owned and ridden by Ricky Johnson). Can't ride in the dirt anymore since I have a metal plate and 9 screws holding my right arm together, but I sure miss it.

Now that I think about it I remember when the Kawi LTD1000 came out that was a sweet ride.

I'd still like to have a 175 for the dirt but for the same reason I sold my snow machine I don't have one.No free time.

I'm amazed over there about how many of these guys go buy a liter-class uber-bike for there first ride. I just don't see the sense in a novice rider on a 160+ hp twitchy crotch rocket. I guess the organ donor people are excited!! I watched a guy here on one of our warm days do a wheelie all the way up the expressway on-ramp, pushing 110mph then realizing there was a lot of traffic and he couldn't merge. Luckily for him, there wasn't a semi-truck tire carcass laying on the shoulder, and he stayed there until he could slow down enough to merge. When I caught him in traffic, he glanced over and shrugged, then cut 3 lanes of traffic and raced off, stupid squid!! I bet in his little pea brain, he thought I was impressed.....NOT!!

You know that really suxs but I guess it has something to do with anti-terrorism and illegal immgration or so they say. I believe you will need a passport by Jan '08 to cross both borders. The Federal government sure is making a killing on the passport fees. Plus I heard it may take up to 16 weeks to process.
For example you will be able go across the southern border to Mexico but without a passport won't be able to come back into the U.S. The Mexicans really don't care whether you go to or from they just want your dinero.

I hear you Troy. It's $2.99 for 87 octane, $3.09 for mid, and $3.19 for premium here too. The Harley prefers premium, so now I feel you GTP guys pain (although not as often, it gets around 55-60 MPG). HAve you all heard the recent study about Ethanol? Now their saying wide spread use would contribute more to the greenhouse effect than gasoline does! At least it's a renewable resource, but I'm sure big business will find a way to export it's production to 3rd world countries too. Profit over employee well being, it's the new American way!!!

Yeah this really blows. We're up to a range of $2.89 to $2.95 for top tier regular unleaded. Speaking of ethanol I didn't know this until one of our local TV stations aired it on the evening news but this oxygenated fuel we have to use in my county from October - March has at least 5% ethanol. Instead of reducing the cost of gas they charged us more for it. :screwy:
Anyways, someone passed this info to me. Chevron has come out with a unique performance optimizer or octane booster? called Purescape. I really wonder if it works.

Hmmm... if it's as good as their Chevron Techron fuel cleaner, it should be the cat's meow.
Hey Bob, did any of those big tornadic storms hit your area? I heard they went along theTexas/Mexico border. I hope you and your's are all ok.

I really don't know Rich. Some say it may be a substitute to using race gas but I'd have to test it.

I'm OK. The tornadoes were North and East of me. We're in a quasi-mountainous area with 4000 feet elevation so seeing twisters is unusual. Plenty of dust devils. We did get about two days rain on and off which was needed.

HAve you all heard the recent study about Ethanol? Now their saying wide spread use would contribute more to the greenhouse effect than gasoline does!
Do you have a link to that study? I'm from the ethanol producing heartland. (but I don't use it.) Ethanol is not realy suited for low compression engines. Ethanol would be great for a high compression direct injected gasoline engine.

Another thing, the ethanol industry is backwards in the US, we need to be more like Brazil. They use every part of the fuel source what they can't use to make ethanol and the left over by-product they burn and use the steam to power a generator to power the plant. Where he in the US we use NG to power the plant and corn kernal (the most important part) instead of using the stalk to make ethanol.
