That is great Chris, makes me glad I know a lot about car systems, although they've tried it on me. I look younger than I am, and back in my late 20's-early 30's, I got that alot. Then when I told them what was wrong and why, they back peddled fast and did what I asked ( I don't touch exhaust or attempt much internal transmission work myself), without all the "extras".

Hi everybody hope all is well out there.
Just curious what you think about this http://blogs.cars.com/kickingtires/2006/08/new_camaro_offi.html
Not this particular link but the fact that its was an official new release yesterday.
I'm not sure if I like the look or not.

Fair to Midland Wylie.

Yeah, I saw the Camaro concept car pics. Looks like a retro 1969 model.

But I'll take the 2008 Dodge Challenger over it anyday.

I recall back in the old days the idiots with the '69 Z28 with the 302 cid would take on us big boys with the big Magnums and Hemis. They looked great the first 100 feet or so. After that it was all history and a $20 gain. :loser:

I agree Bob, the Challenger is awesome, while the Camaro misses the mark. It looks like the bastard child of a new Caddy and a 69 Camaro. The 302 was made fore racing with turns involved, and shouldn't have been messing with Hemi's/Magnums. Now give me 427 Camaro, and I'll show you my taillights.

1970 Chevelle SS454 LS6 was king of the streets back in the good ole days.

But I had a friend with a modded 1970 440 six pack Roadrunner that had no fear of any Chevys whether 427 or 454. The races came out about 50/50. I'm just happy I was the right age to actually own a real musclecar and witness them firsthand. Great era.

When I think back at some of the crazy stuff we use to do and don't remember it costing an arm and a leg.
I friend of mines father build hi pro motors and always had enough used parts kicking around to throw something together.
He once put a 350 in a pinto, I know it sounds hard to believe but its true and it was all under the hood not scoops.

I had a 70 Chevelle, although not an LS-6 454. I have driven one though, a very viceral experience. An older family friend who can no longer drive it as he'd like. He asked me to take him on a drive so he could appreciate it again. After a couple of miles, he grabbed my arm and said " I could drive it like this Rich, now drive it like you got a pair, if it blows up, we'll rebuild it". When we were done, he had a grin from ear to ear, and I had a blast. I believe the rear tires are now toast, but man was that FUN!!!!

Now here is retro done right. Even the lines match the old. Leave it up to the GM Design Engineers to screw up a wet dream as usual.

100% agreed Bob, that Challenger is GORGEOUS! Ford got it right too with the new Mustang, but GM screwed the pooch and once again shot themselves in the foot. They'll blame high gas prices, lack of interest, etc...etc...etc... rather than admit they have no clue what the buying public wants.

When I was married 25 years, I took a look at my wife one day
and said 'honey, 25 years ago, we had a cheap apartment, a cheap car,
slept on a sofa bed and watched a 10 inch black and white TV. But...I got to
sleep every night with a hot 25- year-old blonde.
Now, we have a nice house, nice car, big bed and plasma screen
TV,but I'm sleeping with a 50-year-old woman. It seems to me that you
are not holding up your side of things."
My wife is a very reasonable woman. She told me to go out and find a hot
25-year-old blonde, and she would make sure that I would once again
be living in a cheap apartment, driving a cheap car, sleeping on a sofa bed.
Aren't older women great. They really know to solve your mid-life crises....

Has anyone ever herd of a pontiac parisienne? i've seen a couple of them on ebay and they look just like the typical 80's GM box bodies, are those rare or did they just not do good in sales or something? they look like the chevy caprice, oldsmobile delta 88 and buick lesabre. i used to have a caprice myself actually. i've always liked those 80's GM box body cars too.

Mike, the Parisienne is mechanically identical to the Caprice, Delta, Lesabre RWD models. Not as popular as the Caprice and Delta, but they are out there.

Why not. There are plenty of 4 door sedan supercharged L67 GM automobiles. Buick Regal GS, Pontiac Bonneville SSEI, Buick Park Avenue Ultra, Chevrolet Impala SS, etc.

All the 04 and up Pontiac Grand Prixs are 4 door only.

richtazz
09-01-2006, 01:30 PM
Why not, it's fun to see the look on some performance car driver's face when they get smoked by a "grocery getter" (right Bob?). Plus 4-doors are so much more practical to get in and out of. My GP is just a GT, but my next one will be a GTP.

Does that mean that the other 7% got their owners all the way to their destination?

Thats not mean but nice compared to back in my day. When I was 19 I had a modded '70 Dodge Challenger R/T 440 Magnum. After a rain I would cruise around with my buddies. We have terrible drainage on the streets here. Water puddles all over the place after a good rain. We would see some chicks walking on the sidewalk. Come up slowly, rev the engine to get their attention and then gun it splashing dirty water all over them. Now that was mean! I was a bad boy. :evillol:

yeah man i am going to do the intake today i think..im kinda broke now cuz i just bought this thing yes even $20 bucks is to much haha well i would have to order it and i dont wanna wait.So i am going to make one,i saw at autozone they have do it yourself kinda intakes where you build your own and they sell the pieces. So today after work i am going to give it a shot. One off topic question..i noticed my power steering is really tough to turn my car at a dead stop when i am driving its fine just stoped,so i figured i need ps fluid. So i bought some with a huge funnel and poured it in 2 seconds later its all on the ground it went straight through,so i dont think its a leak is there a hose connection at the bottom cuz it seems like that would be it cuz it when straight through, sorry if this post is in the wrong section i am still learning the eclipse talon laser forum is set up alot different so i am still getting used to it.any input would help thanks guys. ~joe

Boston, do you know for a fact your car has the Bose system? If not, PM me with the last 8 digits of your VIN#, and I can tell you if it did, or any other VIN related info on your car through our GM system at work. On the power steering fluid issue, since the pump is in such a lovely place, are you sure youdidn't just overfill it, and that's why the fluid went everywhere? If you had a leak that bad, all the fluid would be gone by now and you'd have no power assist, even when rolling.

yeah man it has bose,on the front speakers it says it on the cover,i dont know the option package for these cars but mine seems to have all the options.but i see monster cable in the trunk so i know the dude had something in there maybe he fucked up the wiring, when i fade it to the front it sounds awsome bose sound great but fade it to the back and it sounds like all tweeter, and the power steering thing ...well i couldnt see if it was filled i just figuered because at a stop its hard to turn but the second i hit the gas it turns great and its perfect when i drive,,but when i put the funnel in it went in maybe 2 -3 inches and no fluid touched my fingers,,then i poured and it was like i had the funnel pointed straight at the ground instantly out on the ground..so i dont know, but man as each day goes by i love this car more and more,,wow i love boost hahaha later guys ~joe

Tehnically, a Police Special is not your average run of the mill fleet vehicle like rental cars and taxis. I am not 100% sure but I do not recall if the '97 - '03 Grand Prixs were ever offered by GM in a real Police Special Package. The RPO codes would be 9C1, 9C2, 9C3, etc. Plenty of Chevy Impala and Lumina "W" body cars had that offered. If a police department has one it is probably a seized/forfeiture vehicle that was modified locally for police use. In my area the local police and Sheriff's use Mustang GTs and Chevy Z28s. Most were seized from some drug dealer/mule or involved in a serious crime.

Also, if the Grand Prix was offered as a Police Special we would have some record at old posts or some member would surely have posted by now claiming he/she has one.
