I didn't comment on the actual post because I didn't want to beat up a new member, but I was a little confused as to what they were referring to also.

Unless my memory is failing me Rich, I bet it refers to Wylie's annual vacation he spends in San Antonio.

Actually it doesn't make any difference whether you are married or not down here. Women don't care. I had a gal on an ATV chase me down and get a look under the helmet. Incidently, I didn't ask for her phone number but she gave it to anyways. :grinyes:

Yeah, I'm not too good of a color coordinator as you can see. Darn helmet was expensive. It has special air vents that directs airflow to the inside of the helmet. Still gets awfully hot and sweaty wearing it but it's all part of safety.

riding dirt bikes (or street bikes for that matter) with no helmet is not a smart idea. Branches, rocks, big-o-texas bugs, etc, can bust your noggin open. I posted a pic of my dad's memorial ride in the street bike forum, and I'm in the back by my dark red Fat Boy (my wife would say she was next to both of her fat boys, )

Sounds interesting and I am quite sure it would benefit any of our AF members that are Grand Prix enthusiasts in the Michigan area. However, I would strongly suggest that you do not post a link to your club in an open forum on AF without getting prior approval from our Admin or the assigned Moderators to Grand Prix. It is construed as unauthorized advertising per the Community Guidelines. Hey Rich. No problem. Even I let it sit for about 4 days. Actually after the fiasco we just had at the Fiero forum I was totally surprised I was that nice. But we are a bunch of good ole boys contrary to what the guys/gals at "Club Med" and other GP clubs believe. I'm glad we are too cheap for a club web site in my area. I'd have to do alot of posting at their sites. :grinyes:

Also, since we are a big general purpose automotive forum he can post something at Car Shows if his club has a meet or at Cars in General, Web Site Discussions but the post has to be carefully worded, however, the link would be permissable.

Hey Wylie. Yeah, I posted a streaming video at that thread. See below. I have not been riding it much this year. Maybe about 20 hours total riding time which means it is clean 364 days of the year. Plus I'm getting too old. Spent more time with the GTP at the strip and doing some community service stuff like free web page programming for a local military organization and picked up on a new deal which is my favorite hobby now. I help train our national guard and reserve troops getting ready to deploy to Iraq and Afghanistan in counter-insurgency operations a few days a week. I have a team of about 45 veterans, prior service and retirees from all armed forces branches. We plant and blow IEDs at them and attack with real AK47 assault rifles under various training scenarios. Of course, we shoot blanks and the IEDs explode but not like the real ones. Dress up looking just like the real Insurgents with the Arab gear too. Plus I speak Arabic. Just one way to help out regardless if we agree with the war or not. If the training helps save the lives of our troops then it is worth it.

Sounds like good advice on the gold stocks. I'll check into it. Next thing you know it will be retirement time.

I'm old school so I hard code in HTML. I don't use anything like MS FrontPage, etc. Here are the two web sites I maintain. First one is for the West Point Society of El Paso and the next is for the local West Point Parents Club. My oldest son is in his third year at the Academy. Just view the source code when you get a chance. Still a tedious job programming and updating web sites, nonetheless. :runaround:

hey guys, greetz from the grand am sub-forum =D

I've been in the car market, and was curious which year of GTP would be best as in HP/TQ... from what I've been finding... its the 04-05 GTP with 260HP, (correct me if im wrong)

and if I were to get the 97-03 model I would shoot for a later year...

Just sorta looking for something reliable and I think that either a MKIV Golf GTI or Grand Prix GTP is going to be my pick for next spring

Let me know what you think would be the best base GTP year to start with for reliability as well modification I eventually will plan on doing as time of ownership goes on...

I've actually found a great deal of grand prix GT / GTP in my area for decent pricing as well =) newer GP white is cleeean

I personally like the looks of the 97-03 models better than the 04-up, although the interiors of the newer models are nicer. There was never a glaringly bad year of Grand Prix to buy. The 01-02's had a cat converter issue (but GM extended the cat warranty to 7yrs/120k miles). The 97's were the first year of the body, so they seem to have a few more gremlins (not all, but on average). The best advice I could give you on a GTP is to get a Car Fax report and look at maintenance records and the guy your buying it from. GTP's get more owner abuse by nature, so avoid any that appear so.

Tru dat, I like the 97-03 models as well, the newer seem a bit bulky but with the right exterior modification it can possibly still be a clean car

I guess my next question is, was there a HP change in model? up to 03 GTP having 240HP stock, and 04+ it gained up to 260hp?

I'm just confused because isnt it now to where the GT model is the supercharged V6? in the newer models?

The newer body style I can live with as well... if the HP OEM info is correct at 260HP on a GT/GTP. I might go for one of those.

Personally Ive heard nothing but Awesome of how good the 3800 series is along w/ the trans

Most AF forums especially all of the GM ones have assigned Moderators. Best thing to do is PM them and put in a request. For Caprice it is Blue Bowtie and Shortbus. Although I could do it we try hard not to step on the toes of the assigned Moderators by Moderating their forums.

Man, it looks like the valves floated big time from overreving or a bunch of detonation/KR over a period of time. Last time I saw pistons that bad was when nitrous was run abusively. Nearly FUBAR!
