This dude in the cav section told me that the 3.8 and 3800 engines are diffrent 'big diffrence'.

now i thought the 3.8 and the 3800 engine (out of a camaro) was exactly the same? was i wrong somehow? or did i missunderstand his post?

was there a diffrent 3800 in the cav?

there wasn't a 3800 in a cav... your bodystyle cav never had any kind of v6 in it... what those guys are talking about is the 3.8 in the camaro, and the 3800 series designed for fwd cars, like the grand prix or monte carlo...

i'm not sure if you understand how much fabrication, money, and trouble you are talking about when you talk about putting in a v6... bigger engine is not the only way to get more power... in fact the cost and trouble of a v6 swap would cost more, and give you less power than just building up a 4-cylinder and using some sort of power adder...

i won't tell you that you cant do it... but it is way beyond impractical... and if you are operating on a limited budget, don't be rediculous man... modify that 4-cyl, of just use it to drive around and save up for another kind of car.

About taking off the whole dash thing, I bet it isnt as bad as the Monte Carlo.. to change my radio I had to take off the whole left front side of the car, its amazing, really how much trouble they make you go through, I had to take off the plastic too.. where your feet go, under the steering wheel, around the steeringwheel/cluster part and that was it, just to take out the radio. So I know how it is for you

well im at Auburn so i dont have the time, money or space to fix it up. im just gonna get another one. The insurance company totaled it out. And Rally Sport wut happened was: I was coming from the textbook store and explorer made a turn in front of me. I would have t-boned it but i swerved to the right, jumped a curb and hit various objects and a phone pole. The damage they gave me is the first pic i accidentaly deleted the pic of the passenger side

dude, a built up 6 will do more for me then a built up 4 banger... not like i will get to use the power often but id like it to atleast be there.

btw, i got pics and also i tried to burn out and well nothing happen.. i tried 3 times.

btw i think i would just rather have the 6, a built 6 even thon it will cost more will put down more power then a built 4... i might consider that 3800 II/III that is super charged already but i donno, its only putting out like 340hp? i think, maybe 320, but either way that dont seem like a lot.

240-260hp is more like it man... that's why its not worth the trouble... you get get that much power w/ an ecotec 4-cyl w/ alot less cash... and alot less fabrication... and alot less trouble... and more reliable cuz u don't have a million home-made custom fabrication parts on there...

opps i was off by 100, f all that, is it possible to hit 400 crank hp with a fully built 6?
