After reading this, I may never admit what I got, after I was forced to sell my Z3 :uhoh:, not that I would have anyway but to be honest. Get whatever you can afford and will get you to where you need to be for now, You can get anything you like down the road and I personally like tons of Auto and if I could work out having them now I would run of a places to keep all the cars I like but we unfortunetly must make compromises and why else would you explain the fact I hang out and am moderator of the camaro forum when I don't even own a chevy .

The Firebird doesn't get as much traffic but yes they are similiar and one can pick up alot , as well share alot of knowledge that apply to both. Thats the major reason I spend alot of time in here. Although not too long ago there were anti comments about each being made in each forum, so its great we all get along so well now.
As for what type of car I bought, no comment but I was looking for something that was fun for the summer and practical without the 700 + per month bill that had come with my Z3.

those fiero's have a lot more room inside then you'd think, you're not much taller than I am and i had plenty of room in mine, as for the 130K, that ain't shit to the iron duke, that motor will run forever. It's a great first car with plenty of mod potential.

so today, i decide i wanna change the oil in the aurora after work. after work I go straight to advance to get a filter and 4 more qts of 10w30, I already had another 4 qts at home. once i arrived at home, i pulled the aurora out of the back and took it to the gas station to get gas, and also warm the engine up. so $20 gets me about 6 gallons. So i get back home and set up the ramps. the first attempt wasn't successful cuz the left tire was halfway off, so i pulled back off to straigten the ramp, and go back up, this time with my father directing. Success, i get out and place a wood block behind the back tire as to not roll off the ramp and crush my sternum. I get my tools and cardboard and get at it. first i removed the drain plug, which was hot so i tossed it into the pan with the oil, which i later fished out with a magnet. while draining i spotted a toad hopping about so i chased it around the driveway until my father yelled at me to stop. So i crawl back underneath to remove the filter, first with the type of wrench that has the ring that goes around the filter, that didn't work, so i had to get the one that cups around the bottom. i get that off then i place the new filter into the cup and then screw it into place. once i get it all nice and snug, the cup gets stuck to the filter, so i tap it with the ratchet handle and it comes off, and falls right into the drain pan splashing gords of scalding hot oil onto my head, face, neck, and chest. After running toward the garage to get a towel, while screaming "it burns, it burns," i get back underneath and finish the job. after that the toad returned for round 2, but the bastard escaped again. I will have the last laugh.

greetings all.. i'm terrible with forum skills so I'm just starting here praying for a reference from a good samaritan. I've seen on here where people have cut through their trunk to replace a fuel pump and save gobs of cash. I don't exactly have 700 cash right now to get it done, or a lift to do it myself.
what are the chances an average shop will do this and/or know how? I live in Louisville, so I only have to go 15 miles to redneck camaro paradise. I'd be willing to bet plenty of shops have done it, but would I have to know them personally?
If someone can give me specifics somehow of where I'd need to cut through i.e. without cutting through lines, tanks :iceslolan etc. and any other relevant details they would be a godsend as well.
Sorry if I broke up any banter, I know this isn't a repair thread.

Well , a shop is going to rape you. I am currently changing my pump tommorow by lowering the rear and dropping the tank. So unfortunetly if you do not want to attempt this (to which I don't blame you) I suggest you brace yourself for the ****ing. Good luck to you,
Genopsyde
09-06-2005, 09:57 PM
you don't need a lift, just a set of jack stands and a floor jack.

Damn John.. replacing the pump, is this the first time or not? Cause if it is.. GOOD LUCK!

09-06-2005, 10:03 PM
yeah but i'd rather have a mild case of rape-age and find a shop who has cut through a trunk to do it. I've looked at it myself and it's hard to believe, but I've seen 2 cases now of it having been done. That's copious amounts of less labor in exchange for a bit of knowledge. You MUST have a lift, right?
FormulaLT1

First time. After all the other stuff I have done. I know its not a tiny job but I'm not too worried about it,.
FormulaLT1
09-06-2005, 10:06 PM
Also Geno is right, you don't need to lower the rear all that much so its not like the car needs to be real high. Just held by the chasis and enough to just lower the rear enough to get the exhaust out and the clear the tank. Still , good luck.
