Anyways I'm thinking about getting a 05 civic or a 02 altima or maybe some orther saturn ors omething for a dependable daily driver. Any *POSITIVE* suggestions? Maro isn't as dependable as I want it to be and its starting to ask for more cash in a bad way. Asides I like warrenties. I'm under a ~20k budget.

I don't mind joking at me or my car (I can take it and so can my car), so long as its in fun and not taking too seriously or on hurtful purposes.

Not that I want to plug my brand, but for under 20K you can get a very good vehicle (even new) Hyundai with a great warranty and not bad on mileage. True there are a lot of factors involved such as it is just you or do you have a family to drive also or do you want something sporty besides being your daily dependable first mode of transportation.
The Civics are great vehicles as well as the Altima, but to me, comparing the values/options one gets as well as the great warranty make the Hyundai ones a bit more attractive for owning. I would suggest maybe the Elantra GT, sporty, good on gas and can hold more passengers (if the need arrises) than a Tiburon. The Accent I think is too small and The Sonata is a step up but it might push you beyond the 20k. The Santa Fe is overkill for just one person (unless you like suvs) then again maybe you do, also the styling is not for everybody.
Now if you are worried about reliability, its true the older Hyundais from the 80 early 90s were less than desirable, but the newer ones have been really appraised by numerous automotive mediums and even J.D.Power and Associates. The very same people that joke about Hyundai are actually starting to praise them, go figure.

I'll be honest with you, I did not even think of looking at a Hyundai with their past pre-90s' history but after comparing and even driving them I seriously started to look at them. One of the main reasons why I chose a Hyundai was because of the warranty and the values I got for under a certain price. After doing the research and finally having one, I noticed I did the right choice.

In my heart will always be a spot for Chevy and Mazda, (my first cars) but my brain won out and chose the Hyundai. I've been hooked ever since.

yeah I like the Tibs, but I only wish they came with more horsepower as standard, I hate the fact that one has to spend another 10 grand to put in a supercharger. :mad: Now if I had the money, thats a different story. :grinyes:

There are a lot of decent cars you can get for under 20K with decent options and warrenties.. You should really take into account the long term reliability and short/long term re-sale value.. which, for me, (this is just my opinion) would completly rule out any hyundai, kia, or economy domestics (cavy, sunfire, assfire, focus)

Look at Acura, Toyota, nissan, etc.. They hold their value much better than those mentioned above, and have proven themselves to be reliable for years..

I've been seriously considering a brand new 2005 Civic EX-Special Edition (Basically all 'options' are standard.)

Its invoice @ 16,700 but I think I could talk 'em down under 16k. Which would make my payments well within my reach, on a 6 yr loan... :( But yes TS I see what you are saying with Warranty. I've always heard and seen great things with Civics.

I'm thinking about purchasing and extended warranty and such, maybe running around 17k tops. Also they'll have tons of deals at the end of the year.

As far as hyundais... Looked at 'em and nothing really tickles my fancy unfortunately. I do appreciate everyones input on them but only thing i'd be interested would be the v6 tibby, but thats kinda pushing it.

The 20k now is looking lower to 18k tops. I really want dependable good gas milage and fully loaded.

I like my car because of styling, I own a 3rd gen and man it stands out, the ride believe if or not to me, I love it because it sits low to the ground. I would say power but my Camaro has a 6 :lol2: But power is a big factor, nothing like being sucked into your seat.

Well I like the lines on the Firebird, always have and the power it makes for the amount of money they cost is a major plus. They also have plenty of room for improvement which I always enjoy the challenges of modifying a car yet leaving it with enough comforts to be a daily drive if necessary, It was more of a project vehicle to me than anything else but its used as my primary vehicle right now.
