dont get me wrong id like to get one of those northstars in there, but i dont even know if the engine sits straight or sideways

if it sits straight then later i will deff try to shoehorn one of those into it.

4.6 northstar is rated 275HP stock.

Yeah cavs are FWD.. I think anyway and from what ive seen so far in all FWD cars it sits sideways

If I were you i'd get a regular 3.8 and work from there.. not the one thats used in Monte SS cause its fast but not that fast and 60 more HP isnt hard to reach.

I understand that but your changing your mind every other day. So in my mind that makes me think that your not sure on what you want. So I guess what I am trying to tell you is make sure the car you get is the one you want and not just buying it spure of the moment. Just looking out for ya man thats all

the honda accord, is a manual and the guy just got the cav in, and well the cav is an auto and its confortable.

btw, my older brother had the same year cav, and he is about my size and he had the seat is such a way it was like a bed... i couldnt figure out how he fit in there... well im fatter then my brother and my seat and nearly that far back/reclined... i never would have thought about a cav before i got into this one i thought for sure id be driving around like he did and it was horrible... but like i said i got in this and i put the seat back all the way, reclined it a lil bit, and its confortable as hell! and unlike my older brother i can acctually get something behind my seat :)

got the cav!, today 9-8-05, i have had the f-ing thing less then 24 hours and i have almost ran my father over (while i was in reverse (thought i was in drive)), then right after not 5 mins after that i run f-ing red light.

btw i didnt run the light on purpose, it was blocked by a tree, im just glad that i didnt crash into anyone and that there was no cops around, and 2 where i ran it was pretty dead, 1 car acctually stoped for it i donno how the f he knew it was there, and 2 another car stoped at the 2nd light (1 block past the block from the light i ran to the light i stoped for was maybe 50 feet(just big enough for 3 maybe 4 cars if they are on each others bumpers)) accross from me

some quick cavy questions.

1, when ever i hit a bump my radio changes stations + it wont hold a preset, & or the preset gets set on a diffrent button then the one i push

2, when im changing the settings on the ac it makes this slight hissing sound...

3, im not sure because i was in / out of the passenger side door quite a few times but as i was driving down a bumpy road and my radio was switching stations, my passenger door was raddling sounded like it was gonna come opened and i noticed that is somehow became unlocked and it became slightly ajar... you know how when you dont close it all the way, but it wont open either? it was like that, and im 100% sure the door was locked and 98% sure the door was closed all the way.

can anyone help me with these 3 problems?

First off, congrats on your first car. Your finally a man (well that one is questionable but still congrats). As for the radio issue. Its a sensitive mercury issue with the radio itself and only way to resolve the problem would be to replace the radio and the hissing sound is normal. Lots of my cars did that and functioned normally.

Anyway, speaking of running red lights a few threads back, yesterday I am following this contruction digger (the one with two big ass wheels in the back and two little ones in the front with a crawl/digger in the front) anyway, it has it lights falshing going down the road about 40 miles an hour and I'm right behind it and for some reason I start staring at the revolving flash lights, i must have got hypnotized or something but the damn construction vehicle runs right through the red light, Me being focused on the vehicles lights I cross as well, it wasn't until a little bit pasted the half way point in the intersection that a police truck in the opposite side was turning left and almost hit me. I snapped out of it and continued, but I guess the police truck was going somewhere and did not go after me.

I'm making sure i do not follow contruction diggers anytiume soon or at the very least not stare at their flashing lights.

my ac hisses to. it sounds cool. i was messing with my friend and told him it was my nos. lol cause i shut the car off with the air off and i shut the air off after the car was off so it was like tssssssssss. by the way lets see some pics. oh and the radio thing is cause theres a ghost in your passenger seat and he dosnt like your music or when the door is closed or locked. just slap him in the face and yell i love hot dogs and he will bound to leave. then when he leaves you can admit you like tacos better ;)

where can i check out that engine?

the engine is a 2.2L 4-cylinder. your cav may already have it, what year is it? but the ecotec is a very potent 4-cylinder with variable valve timing and stuff... loves to be force inducted as well... they use a 2.0L supercharged version in the saturn ion redline and the cobalt ss...

it is much simpler to put in a more stout 4-cylinder then to try and rig a way to mount a v6 in an engine bay that wasn't designed to fit one... your choice but the ecotec is a good platform for performance mods, but like i said before ur cav may already have it... i think '02 and up cavy's have 'em...

they have books on how to turn an ecotec loose... you buy a crate engine or get one out of a junkyard or something, build it up before you put it in, then swap in the beast... race ecotec engines are putting out more than 1100 hp w/out increasing displacement...

The AC in my Camaro hisses.. I like it cause I can tell if its on or not, also it usually drowns out when I have any music thats audiable..

Dude you have any idea how bad that car is a steal? He's selling it that low because of the paint which is obviously messing up as you can see on the hood and because no A/C.. i'd so take it.

Paint and A/C dude.. seriously its a BIG thing for people, honestly it is.

People want a good looking car, and if it doesnt have A/C in a hot area then people DONT want it at ALL.. thats what im guessing though because I was going to take the AC out of my Camaro and my mom kept telling me not to because it will bring its price down.

that car is not only missing a/c, its also missing heater, and no vent as well... the heater core is not connected, and the entire underhood fan box has been removed... the paint sux too... the car was changed from fuel injection to carburated... which was done half-ass i might add... interior is decent, clutch pedal cover isn't there, shifter boot is dry rotted as shit, the plastic around the gauge bezel looks to be fading... the dash pad seems to be straight which is uncommon... why does his dash say z28 if it is an RS? HVAC is removed...

i'll tell ya why he's selling it... he's gotten tired of it, driving around w/ no a/c, no heater, and no vent gets old fast... plus to get all the comforts hooked up again will be a bitch and a half, especially since he removed every last piece of it, that's just plain ignorant... driving around in a car that is uncomfortable will wear thin, no matter how fast it is, especially if it is your daily driver.

in my opinion its no steal... i wouldn't pay more than 1200 and that's absolutely pushing it... 1000 aint no steal, that car may end up being more trouble than its worth...

alone in the HVAC system he has removed probably 1000 worth in parts... that even with the parts will be extremely tough to put back together...

on top of that, that engine won't pack too much power... its a carbed 305 w/ headers... the biggest performance mod would be the 4.10 gears...

a friend of mine had a '86 iroc that he drove for about 3 months. nearly identical to that car, except it had much more performance mods... it ran 11's. BUT it was without a/c, heater (don't forget w/out heater you can't defog windows if its raining) and vent, plus only got 12mpg of premium gas. he couldn't handle it, more trouble and money than it was fun... and he had to get rid of it, and ended up getting 1000 less than what he payed for it... i see trouble coming if you get that car man, my recommendation would be no...

Well im agreeing with Dave on this.. after a closer inspection it would definately not be good to have as a daily driver.. be totally wrong to try to do that unless you can handle the heat, low gas mileage and obviously be cold during the winter, that car is totally a weekend warrior.

ya... a car like that will prolly end up being nothing but heartache man... a point in time will come that you love it, but hate it at the same time, and the fact that it is uncomfortable will eventually get ya... my friend w/ the iroc ended up getting a 2000 celica just cuz all he wanted was reliability and comfort after the iroc...

ok, btw when i first turn my ac on it sound like a fan is raddling like its about to fall off or something?

also that hissing sound appens only when i first turn my car on (for a few seconds) and also anytime i change it setting, like head, head + feet, feet, cycle (reuse the inside air).

the radio is the stock one, i guess it will be a lil while before i get a new one, till now i will just have to get used to listening to a good song then right in the middle of it have change on me... lol, last night that happened a few times, i hit a bump and it took me from 1 station to another but i guess it was a good station then in the middle of a pretty decent song i hit a bump and it changed again... random radio, atleast you will never get tired of the same station... oh and btw its just and fm radio, its not tape or cd, just fm/am radio.

in only a few hours i put a ton of miles on my car, i donno 6 hours of on / off driving i put 50+ miles on my car doing nothing / going no where

I got the same pm from Gunshow. He is banned already. The hissing you hear I think is just the controls inside that adjust where the air is coming out. Not a big deal. The rattling sound could just be the blower motor for a/c and heater. I had a 96 silverodo and it did the same thing worked fine just had to turn the stereo up lol

yea, that raddling is real loud for a min or 2 then it just dies out, but hte ac get cool fast, im a big guy and it dont get 'cold' to me, my brother was complaining that it was to colod but i thought it was just 'cool'

well it runs good, i had the abs light on for awhile but it went off (it was on for a long time 3 / 4 starts and it was still there) then eventually i looked down and it was off and hasnt come back on since

well she said to take it in, in like a month or so, i donno i was thinking about going for a full tune up, all fluids draind and fiilled, new filters, new plugs & wires, but i thats gonna cost me, and im not even sure my car will need all that and i dont wanna take it in for a tune up and it come back running ragged? ever hear of that, a tune up that make a car run like shit? it might be good in the end but i donno and i donno if i can afford it, i spent pretty much all my loot on the car, i have about 300 left, but dont wanna spend it if i dont have to.
