You guys are totally right about G/a's. Def. underrated, plus i think they are excellent 1st cars. A lot of people i know had a g/a as their first car. I also learned so much from just messing around and taking apart and putting back together. I also get bored and read through the entire manual for the car as well as my haynes manual. LMAO. This is why my 88 doesn't have a sqeak or rattle throughout the car. When i was in HIgh school, me and 3 of my friends all had G/a's so we would park all next to each other, plus it was one from each generation. My 88, 90, 93, 96. at that time the 99's were just coming out. This is all when my interest was coming out. PLus if they would come to my house there would be 5 ga/s on the street including my fathers. Unfortunetly I'm the only one left with the ga's.

on a side note, i hope everyone is done with their shopping, because it's a nightmare out there! I almost got nailed on the road yesterday attempting to go out x-mas shopping. 6 days till CHRISTMAS! Naughty or nice, which list are you on?!!!! hahahah:evillol:

Naughty or nice, Hum..... A little of both.

Ya GA's will spoil you real quick. I know when mine was down last week, and I was driving other vehicles they all sucked! The steering didnt hav that stiff secure feeling my GA does, they all road rough'r. The others didnt hav the stoping power either.

Heck my GA practically drives its self. haha, well it seems that way.
We are all spoiled by GA's and I still cant beleive the N-bodies are gone. Ga's been around forever. Like the 73 Grand Am (http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c242/xeroinfinity/AUTOMOBILES/73ga.gif) big like the Grand Prixs of the day. I had a 74 toward the end of High School. They stuffed BB V8's in these older models.
The 78 Grand Am's (http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c242/xeroinfinity/AUTOMOBILES/78ga.gif) were starting to get smaller, not as curvy, square-ish. Heres the 80 GA (http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c242/xeroinfinity/AUTOMOBILES/80ga.gif) , it was still simular to the 78'. I beleive they had the SB V8's in them.

I guess all good things come to an end, just a bit premature for me. Thats kinda why I'm holding onto my 99' and gonna try and pick up another one maybe an 04-05 GT.
I hav a few Olds mobombs I need to fix up(when I ever get time and $$). My oldest 2 girls both hav 95 Grand Prixs, those arent bad rides either. Same 3.1 that GA had a few yrs back.

What was GM thinking....... Oh maybe its to gouge all us discontinued owners with sky-rocketing parts that will only be available from the stealershits. :grinyes: :lol2:

Well guy's I've been around the biz all of my life, Dad was selling Pontiacs long before I came along, and I have seen it happen in the past. Just like the Firebirds, when they changed the style in the begining of the 80's just about everyone said "What the Hell have they done?" but the damn thing caught on and then it became the main stay of the preformance line of afordable cars. There was also the Grand Prix, the Prix of the 70's where great looking rides, In come the boxes of the 80's and then back to some sleek lines, then poof an ugly rounded off over stuffed GA. But when it came to the GA the transitions were all kind of gradual from the square nose then it began to lean back then blended into the front bumper, but never did it take a drastic overhaul. Says a lot about what they thought of the GA buyer. I think that some one near the top said its time to change. In the past Pontiac has been able to bounce back after a hugh body changes but at some point their luck will run out and they will end up with a major flop, such as that piece of crap they had in the mid 80's I believe it was called a LeManns, what a pile ot trash that was I think even the safety glass was too thin. They took a strong name sake and flush it in a joint effort with Korea.

That is how it goes, and I do not think that anyone of us have enough cash to stop it from happening.

Now as for Naughty or Nice, Put it this way I was just nice enough to get naughty. Ans please be my guest to run with it.

ou guys have a good night and I'll catch up tomarrow.

Well I never knew that the early year G/a's even exsisted until one day surfing the web i had stumbled across the original early generation. At least there was about a 5 year gap between the newer and older ones so the transition wasn't as bad. The older around 79-80 g/as look a bit like the lemanns (at that time) I would have to say though i do like the late 80's pontiacs. Like the 86-88 G/a SE, the 87+ GP, SE/GTP or McLaren, 87-91 Bonneville SSEi, the 6000 SE, Did i leave anything out, oh yeah the T/A, F/B and wasn't firehawk around this time as well?

Pontiac did/does have another mistake, other then the lemans of the late 80s, don't forget the Firefly! this Geo Metro/ Chevy Aveo look alike, makes me think of the lightning bugs or fireflys you so around during the summer time! Sometimes i really just don't think they try hard enough on some of their cars. Ie: the minivans that look almost identical to each other from pontiac to chevy to olds now to saturn!

on to my own question, naughty or nice. I'm gonna go with Nice this year, but lately i've been on the naughty side....:uhoh:

catch u later guys

Hey I kinda liked the Lemans from the 70's but they did go down hill later in their production. I think that pontiac 6000, was something of a POS! I knew lots of people who had them back in the 80's and they were always having problems. Usually wont start or head gaskets leaking(imagine that).
Firefly,? I dont remmeber that one. But the GEo's were like tin cans, with a 3cylinder. I hav seen people, by hand, flip them over on their sides and the owners would come out of the store and really flip out that their car was on its side. hahaha! Damn those were the days!
grfnkl , you said " SE/GTP or McLaren" the McLaren? I dont think thats GM is it? Because I'd sell every car I hav for one of these 3 seat, 200mph cars. http://hogranch.com/files/Bitmaps/Cars/McLaren/mclaren.jpg
I beleive Mercedes makes Mclaren, so that would be Chrysler. Anyway, I'm just dreaming. :lol2:

Ya there was a time when most cars all looked like the same car, boxy, no smooth curves. THose damn 80's!
I'm tired of being nice, so I just might hav to get naughty.....

I liked the lemans from the 70's as well, my grandfather had one, but once GM tried to revive it in the 80's it became a big mistake.... I wasn't entirely familiar with the 6000, I knew someone who had one and they didn't have many problems that i knew of... As far as the GP, there was the SE or GTP and there was an additional GTP McLaren addition, Basically it was only made in 1989 and 1990 only about 1500 made, and what it was, was a Mclaren Turbo bolted on to the v6. it made it a very fast ride.

here's the Pontiac Firefly... LMAO

Ya their has been quite a few Re-births over the years for Gm. Now other car makers are jumping on the rebirth wagoon. That does make more sense, once everyone like them, pull it off the market, then 5 or 10 years hav a rebirth at twice the cost of the originals. Am I just parinoid.......

OK, Firefly (http://www.cardomain.com/member_pages/show_image.pl?bg=000000&image=http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/3/web/303000-303999/303677_36_full.jpg) those are Metro copies. I do remember those, they look like shoes. :lol2: Something so awful must hav triggerd a mental block in my mind, I just got this flash back.

I hav seen the late 80's GTP's, i didnt know it had the Mcleran turbo. Guess I should hav picked one up years back. I hate those short runs they do, like the GA's with the SC out of the factory Rare!.

You guy's are bringing back some memories, There was a time when when you could tell what car was following you in the dark, just by way of the headlight and grill set up. I remember when you could tell the diff. between a Pontiac and the Chevy with out a second glance, at least now it is beginning to change again you can see enough difference between the model lines, not like the 80's when the sunbird looked like the caviller and the Phoenix looked like the Citation and so on, you could not tell what was climbing up your ass to save your life.

There was nothing like the 60's and 70's, the days when the car designs where kept secret untill New Car Annoucment, I know that at the Pontiac store that my father became sales manager the whole week in September was a big deal, They went as far as covering the show room windows. The first day was by invitation only for existing customers, back in the day when people could afford to trade every three years. But now they have taken the excitement out of the new models. They rush to bring a car to market ie: the GTO they could have done so much to that car that it really could have put the new Mustang to shame. If they would have brought the publics excitement level they could have had people paying sticler plus just to say they had one of the first kids on the block to have the new toy.

As for the McLaren: My wife's Aunt's boyfriend had a chance to drive the F! he said that it runs better once you get it above 150MPH. This guy is great to talk to...the experiences he has as a race driver can keep your interest for hours. I don't remember if I told you guys that he was a road racer in England. He has driven for aome of the guys in Pink Flloyd, and was one of the lead donation getters for Proncess Di's charity race (when she was alive), The stories can go on for ever. Right now he is building a 71 Camero to run in road races here in the states, he has asked me to help in the pits when he gets it running. What a blast that will be.

Well I've run pn long enough, catch you later.

I"m Done Shopping (na, na, na, na, hee, hee)! I finished last night at wally world as Xero puts it. Man was is goofy out there, I swear that every a**hole and their mom's where there. I did get lucky and was able to find a handicapped spot up front before som idiot that is not handicapped grabbed one, boy does that piss me off, you would think that is would be some teenager that is using grandma's placard, but it's not them it is usually some 30 something stud muffin who gets out of the car and literally runs into the store, and then I have to park 600 yards away, and practically need a wheel chair to get around. Oh well Merry Christmas!

OK, off the soap box... you guys remember about a week ago I said I was having an issue with the GAGT, The wife & son came home and said they could smell anti-freeze and the check engine light was on, well I have come to the conclusion that the GAGT is possesed by a female entity, I let her sit for a few days only because of the snow and cold, I can't function well in this kind of weather it makes the foot hurt real bad, whike I was letting her sit I had to go to the parts store one of those days to get a set of chrome wheel covers for my daughter's Tracer as a X-Mas present, while there I grabbed a new gear shifter knob for the GAGT. I came back and put it on and still let her sit, well on Monday the wife was complaining becaues she was tired of the Tracer and wanted HER car back (her car my ass) any way I finally went down abd knocked the smow off and started her up and wouldn't you know it the Check Engine light was off and the car was getting warm, blowing heat and everything. I popped the hood and the fluid levels were fine. The wife has been driving her for 3 days now and all is fine. My CONCLUSION...but the girl a nice little present and all is fine, there are only two things that bother me...1. I can't find any mention of this kind of repair in the Haynes Manual and 2. This starts off with a little grear shifter knob, what is it going to take for the next time?

Have a good afternoon, I'll check back in later tonight, I am going to spend some time with my neighbor, he's been doen in the dumps the last couple of days, he's realozed that this is his last Christmas and it is really sinking in. BUMMER!

Hope to get my last minute shopping done tomarow. I acually stoped in at WalyMart and they didnt hav what I was after, and beiing CD's I figured Waly world might just hav edited the CD's for me, and I'd rather they didnt. So I'm hitting the "MALL". THats scary! Who knows who you might bump into at the Mall.

Oh ya Dan, I've seen those little punks in the HC spot. When ever I used to take my parents to the store they'd call the cops and sit and wait for the spot to be emptied by the tow truck. haha, little b***turds! I'm the guy who parks in the fire/tow lane. :lol2: JK! I try to keep my vehicles clear of people who are farsided, because they bang the h**l outa my fenders. Must hav 4-5 chips on the front fenders.
Wow! Today was offically winter, and I'm already ready for summer! Havnt seen those 1&2 in any manuals Dan, that is strange
My wife is always saying weird stuff the car does, like everytime she drives the GA, the security light either flashes or just stays on. But as soon as I get in its fine. My wife had like 100 key chains and keys, must hav weighed a couple #'s  I think that the weight pulls the key just enough to break the connection on the key, thus triping the security light. Tempermental cars.... sheesh!

Hope your feet get to feeling better Dan. Hey, Your neighbor on/got any medical marijuana? I bet that would cheer him up, sure it would me. It must be hard knowing, well, that your time is short. I dont know what I'd do, probly some pot though, and all the other Narcotics I could stomache. Damn Now i'm bum'd out....

Well take care everone, what out for fall prices. JC

No need to be too bummed about the neighbor, he is actually pretty cool about what his future has in store. Any way you should be more bummed about havin to hit the Mall. You could not pay me enough to get with in 10 miles of a mall. I don't know which would be worse the little teenagers looking to impress the "Babe of the Week" or the grand ma and grand Pa looking to get that perfect gift to spoil the little ankle muncher. As for the parking thing you may be better off parking in the tow away zone it may be one of the last available spaces. I do not envy you.

Hey, that heavy key chain thing will play havoc on the lock cylinder you may suggest taking some of the crap of there before she ends up stranded some where because the key will not turn due to screwed up tumblers from the uneven downward pull, I Know, if she is like my wife it will be hard to explain the whole premise of the heavy keys. Good luck with that but I think you have the right idea about the security light being on when she drives.

As for the paint chips on the fenders I think they should just start putting them on at the factory, you can park in a spot at the far end of the lot and put the car in three spots sideways with orange cones placed at the corners and you will still come out and find chips. It is a mystery that will only be solved when someone figures out where the other sock goes in the dryer.

Have fun at the mall and remember only 2 and 1/2 shoppind days left, (The 7-11 is open Christmas eve).

I'll never understand teenage girls, oh ya I hav three of those dont I. haha. Then you hav the older folks doing their dayly laps aroumd the mall, and they are always going in the wrong direction.

Ya done told the wife to loose some of the attachments on her key chain, and surprisingly she didnt hesitate.
But then again she hasnt driven it in a while. She went out and bought a new 05' Toyota Prius hybrid thingy. Synergy Drive! I think a 20" bicycle is faster on take off. :lol2: POS! Glad it came with a forever(almost)warnty and the forever payment book. Heres the heart of its Synergy. kind of a generator/alternator.

that mechanic sound clip LOL .. nice
...

Hmm, been a while since I been here...

Today I hack saw'd off my muffler :D ... it purrs .. resonator is still there... clean cut, good spot in case I need to mount the huge beasty muffler back on.. right now from the saw'd off part is a flex fit pipe going up the original muffler and holding together a straight pipe thats placed inside of that... tightened with clamps and on the tip of the straight pipe is a tip .. of which is a friend's and will be replaced soon.. I dont want a huge black dual tip sticking out of my ass =p.. I think each tip is 1inch in radius... looks bleh but its just temp.

Sounds nice though... eventually I hope to do a new muffler .. maybe something like magnaflow or glasspack with new smaller chrome dual tips and the resonator gone... wish meh luck

For all you guys going to "wally"world for shopping you are crazy.... I think if i even attempted i would probably get into 4 accidents. LMAO and that's not saying much from me. You would think that the world is ending when you walk in, cuz everyone running around just grabbing and runnnign to the cashiers. Plus the one by my house is a little degrating, they have the greeter as someone who is crippled, and maybe deaf or can't talk properly, you get a little uneased since you don't know what to do, do you say hi, do you walk by, do you look at the guy do you avoid him? It's as if he's on display, (I have nothing against equal oppurtunitys) it just makes me uncomfortable.

Hoags: Yeah i feel that the G/a can be a little "b*tchy" on a monthly basis, My 88 is notorious for leaking antifreeze for about 1-3 days once a month, with no source to be found of the leak... As i put it, she PMS's then goes through her "monthly cycle" LOL. Keep up the good work on keeping your neighbors spirits as high as you can get them.

XI: You allowed the toyota to come home? what were you thinking? LOL sorry just had to. With rising gas costs, i don;t blame you. I just heard the GM will be releasing the Saturn Vue Hybrid the end of this year, and it will be cheaper then the regular Vue. Which is a shock since it's normally more to buy a hybrid version.

Well i better get going AGAIN, and finish up the last 4 people for shopping, Girlfriend always being the most expensive and wanting everything ( which i can't afford on my salary) hahahahha

later guys, wish me luck with driving around accident free. I'll be on one of NJ's most congested roadways with many accidents, Route 22! JOY!

Hey Gooman, Pretty good stuff, Did he mean halogen fluid is not real? I got a quart of it sitting in the garage! Ha Ha Ha. Just kidding, the thing about the lighter, the fact that alot of cars are not comming with the lighter of ashtray is really something, I am a smoker (unfortunatly), I bought my Suzuki XL-7 and it came minus a lighter and tray, I have 3 sockets to plug in the other accessories, makes no sense to me, Aside from the health thing they say that they are not putting in the lighter/tray because of the distractions...but yet they give you enough scokets to plug in the portable TV, DVD, Game stations Computers and hell I've seen coffee makers. These things nust not be distractions, OH, don't forget the cell phone, Pennsylvania was talking about banning them in the car, what a crock of sh*t, Some of the things I've seen while people are driving it is a wonder we don't have more people killed than we do.

Be good guys, catch ya later,

Hey Gooman18 thats a funny clip, fell outa my chair!

So what you hacking up Gir-_-? I bet it took some time cutting that pipe with the hacksaw.

Ya grfnkl , went to Waly world and fought the crowds. Ya those Greeters at the door are at every Waly store. What PO'd me was they didnt hav what I was looking for, and all the employees were to damn dumb to help me out. So I took it to the MAll, today.. It wasnt as bad as Waly W, lots of school kids hanging out there. Didnt see many gangs hanging out, guess all the Cops ran them all off for the holidays. hahaha! BUt my shopings done.

I hear you Hoags. When we got our 99 GA it didnt come with an ashtry, it was lik $30-40 from the dealer, and its just this little thing that fits in the cup holder, lik 4-5 smokes and its a fire hazzaard.

I had been trying to quit, but you know how that goes. I giv up alcohol and drugs years ago, sure as shit I quit smoking now and I'll hav a F****en heart attack, or a damn stroke. I still hav a couple beers now and again(maybe some shots of Tequila), but not on a regular bases though.

Didnt NJ pass a law on cell phones already? I heard they are trying to outlaw FALLING ASLEEP! What a krock! After banning that, and smoking they'll Outlaw eating behind the wheel. Cop pulls you over, "Do you know how many big Macs you were doing back there,".. "and heres your $50 ticket, enjoy your Mcmeal!" hahahaha

Gir-_-
12-22-2005, 07:52 PM
Yea XI, took like a good 30-45mins of cutting.. I think the thickness of the pipe was 1/8th of an inch lol .. we just took turns on that bitch .. but end result was a clean cut and if anything.. for example if I need to put the original muffler on a flexfit pipe with clamps will easily fix ... dont know how to weld :D and Im sure we'll just be taking the original off again anyways lol ... when I have more money we plan to take off the resonator and put on a new performance type muffler, something that'll make it rawr then purr like it is right now lol.... getting a muffler cause of the back w/e pressures

Edit: Just wondering... is the cat. converter near the muffler or anything like that?

Was just curious cause I can smell more exhaust fumes.. but its just a straight pipe for now untill I get paid for a new muffler

12-23-2005, 01:24 PM
NJ did pass a law about cell phones, you need a hands free to drive around or else they pull you over, which is a bunch of BS since they don't, unless you go through one of those towns that have noting better to do... They are now talking about banning Cellphones all together, eating, drinking and smoking in cars. Unfortunetly they can barely keep up with the expired inspections, bad drivers, speeders, so i highly doubt it will make a huge difference. For instance the Garden State Parkway which is right near my house is 55,mph speed limit, 75% of the drivers do 70mph+ and you don't get pulled over. as long as you don't go over 80 your good... and if you do, make sure there is someone going faster then you.

When i bought my 02 it actually came with a cigarette lighter and ashtray... Which i was a bit shocked and didn't care much, I passed them off to My mom's 04 Vue since that didn't come with it ( since she is the smoker of the house and I am not)

Gir: The cat Conv is up towards the front, basically under the front seat area under the car.

I did manage to go out without much of a problem, just a stupid girl who smacked her door into mine, while i was sitting in my car, She quickly freaked and dropped her stuff on the ground, LMAO. and I got the lovely ABS light and "friends" came on the dash. The roads seemed better today, i guess everyone finished yesterday.

Gir, watch it with those exhaust fumes, we don't want you taking a nap and not wakin' up, you know what I mean?!

Hey is anyone else on AOL? and if so have you been having trouble the last few days? It seems that every time I sign on (still on dial up) I get bumped off and have to go through the sign on crap all over again. And damn if it don't happen while I am in the middle of typing a reply. Just thought I'd ask before I start raising hell with the phone co.

I heard that Jersey passed that hand set ban, I just don't get it, you can watch a lady run down the interstate doing 80mph putting in her make up, or the suite reading the Wall Street Journal, drinking the coffee and calling the offic at the speed of 75-80m but that's OK. Go figure!

Well, we have 1 day left to go before the big show, The thing that I'm looking forward to is my little mieces and nephews, that is what it is about to see theur faces when they get that one special thing they wanted. I have a 13 yr old son and 16 yr old daughter and at this point they pretty much call the shots as to what they want, you know...the one "big" gift and the little stuff that goes with it/ to it/ on it/ in it/ for it and something to put all of it in. By time your done with that you have spent the wad all you hae left if enough for the dollar store stocking stuffers. As for the wife She is getting a new leather coat and a couple of outfits, same thing she called the shots, I wish i was a rich man so I could shock the shit out of her with a big friggin rock.

This comming year I too am going to quit the smokes, I gave up the booze and beer about 15 years ago, but if I can quit smoking i want to take that cash and save it for nest Christmas, hell I will be a rich man for one year anyway. I hope I can do it but I don't know, It was easy giving up the booze and beer...just woke up one morning 15 years ago and said that was it no more and it really has not been a problem. Gir, watch it with those exhaust fumes, we don't want you taking a nap and not wakin' up, you know what I mean?!
 haha

Yea man I hear ya lol. Right now plans are to find a good performance type muffler, w/ some sound to it. Eventually the resonator is going to be cut off and yea straight pipe with flex piping idea  ...Just right now Im on the hunt for a new muffler, not sure exactly what to buy... something for $40 or less. I was wondering since this is off topic thread if some people who've gotten new mufflers could post theirs or if anyone can recommend a good one to me... from the cut off on the exhaust its about 17" out to where the tips 'should' go.. thanks a bunch, later guys

Hey Guys! 1 day!
Hey Gir, do get ur exhaust fixed. Those fumes could knock you out cold, while driving down the road. even mine exhaust puts out some fumes i can smell from time to time, and mine is all welded together. I think the only $40 muff you'll find IS a glass pak. I'll try and snap some pics of my exhaust works to show ya.

I get a big kick outa the kids when they're opening their gifts. Like you said Dan, they call the shots, but I like to throw in a few surprises, keep them guessing. You are lucky you only hav a couple kids. Six is quite stressful. Did I tell you guys that I hav six kids, well they are 3 sets of twins(I'm a twin too) :banghead: OK, No doublemint comercial jokes.

I plan on quiting smoking the first of the year, dont think I can do it cold turkey though. I tried those meds, Zyban, to quit a few years back and I had a damn seizer, and that sucked! But they hav the commit plan and Nicoret gum, that stuff costs more than the damn cigarettes. It will be difficult for the first few weeks, but its something that has to be done, I dont even enjoy them anymore. *cough-cough*.

Hav a Merry Xmas everyone! Catch you all later.

Dan: I'm running on AOl Dialup as well still, ( not my choice) I'm not having any hangups, it just runs slow as hell at times, But this also maybe do to incoming calls that my computer will not inform me of anymore. The only problem I also have with aol is that it wont let me sign into the forums. i have to go into IE or Netscape, ( which I'm using at the current moment since IE is now also giving me problems with signing in. DAMN COMPUTERS!

For those of you that are going to try to quit smoking, first off good luck, I know it's tough, know many people who have tried. I did hear of some new "old" method, it's some book about quitting smoking( i don't remember the name), supposively it actually works really well with about 80% of the poeple who read it actually quit, it maybe more benifical then those gums and patches that don't quite work.

Gir, becareful like hoags, and xi said, carbon monox, sneeks up on ya and you don't realize it. and if you guys have your own homes, definetly get ones of those detectors, it does save live, it possibly saved ours.

XI, you have 6 kids? DAMN! 3 sets of twins, you definetly got "lucky" on that one didn't you, hahah. I shouldn;t talk, twins run in my family as well. My luck when i finally take that final step with the G/F and we get to kids stage, our luck will be twins.

No more NYC transit strike! YAY, now the traffic will be just as bad! YAY!

Merry Christmas to anyone and everyone, if i dont make it on again by tomorrow.

Yea man, I've been meaning to get a new muffler... quick question for you and anyone else... Under the car does the resonator come first or after the cat... I want to think after but I got friend of mine to print up some stuff on my muffler from kwik kar so we dont screw it up lol

basically

Seems like when lots of kids are out of school, my dial up lagss. I heard Aol is good about disconnects and stuff anyways, been lots of virus's on the net too recently.

ya 3 sets! when it rains, it pours. lol We were shocked and speachless, all three times! Well we figured we got kids out of the way early, so at least I wont be 90 and going to graduations.

Gir, from the engine down pipe its the converter(smaller), then the long(er) resonator, then onto the muffler. I removed the resonator and put on my muffler then a 'Y" pipe, then the two out and over the axle and dual tips on the rear. I was thinking I should hav gotten a muffler with one in and two out, might sound better(louder). Who knows.

Hav put about 300 miles on my new gaskets' on the GA seem to be holding very well, just running a little hot at stops and drive-thru's. Seems odd since it was in the 20's the other day. I beleive the Dex isnt working as good as the old green.... time will tell.

Hey, Taters guys, think I here Santa,....

I hope everyone had a good christmas... I now have enough to fix up my muffler And some extra spending to save for my intake from Dr. Speed. Dont you have that one XI? Ya my CAI is lik the DR speed one , but mine came from some other place, but basicly the same silicone boots chromme tubing. But since I had that LIM leak I took it off so I didnt get the yello silicones dirty.

But I can tell you the filter goes inside the fender, and to get to it you hav to remov the black plastic in the fenderwell. You'll need to remove the old air duct works inside the fender. But as long as you put on a long life filter you wont need to remove it very often.
One other thing I found out the hard way is, you cant driv through deep water with it. Thats For shor!

Hoags, I too, am a smoker and i dont have the ashtry and lighter either. Thats what empty mcdonalds cups are for. Oh well. As for seeing a coffee maker in a car? Thats nothing. In my '84 Prelude i had a power inverter with all kinds of craziness hooked up to it. Christmas lights year round. I had a PS2 and an extra 12 inch TV that i found lying in the basement hooked up. And the grand-daddy of them all...an EASY BAKE OVEN! Hell yeah i had me and easy bake on the back deck. Made my ex sit back there and cook me brownies while i drove. Maybe thats why shes my ex! LOL. Be good guys, Hope it was a merry one for you all. Later

The smell of burt baked goods in my car, would be a compliment to the chemical smell of hand cleaners and other shop odors. Even the little pine tree air freshner has given up. :grinyes:

Well, Mad Rush II has begun...The wife took off a while ago and I'm sure I will not see her until after the sun goes down. The returns are down this year but the sales must be good. So tonight I will be both broke and hungry reather than just broke.

OK Gooman...The Easy Bake Oven? That is too much and we thought the cell phone was a distraction wait till New Jersey gets a hold of this one.

XI I hope you have survived the on slaught of your kids unwrapping presents, How many trashbags of wrapping paper did you end up with, I did good this year...The boy got his "Big" gift in the way of a PSP, what a piece of work that thing is you would swear you were watching a real game instead of playing one. It is kind of nice having the older kids, ond big gift and a bunch of little stuff and we are done.

We had a good Christmas, I got to hold my 7 day old nephew...Too Cool. There was a little bit of travel 1/2 hour drive to my brothers and then a 5 min. trip to the inlaws for some presents for the kids and nieces and nephews, some ham and lasagna, By then I was done, the F*cking foot was hurting so bad that I had the wife and daughter get a ride home with the sister and brother in law and I took off with my son.

That was the only down fall of the whole Christmas thing. All of my doctors say that the weather affecting my foot is BS, there are no studies that confirm that Temp fluctuations have an effect on a condition, but I can tell you that they must be looking at the wrong people.

Ok Enough of that , We are supposed to head to Plymouth Michigan on Thursday night to spend the New Year holiday at the wife's aunts place. So pending weather we will head that way. I want to try to get into the boyfriends TVR and give it a run, when my brother in law was up last time the BF took him out in it and they topped out at about 115mph on the back roads of Michigan. Too Cool! I will let you know if I get to drive it, only problem is the Steering wheel is on the wrong side, I don't know wow that will work out for me?

I've been running on, so I'm gonna split and stop back in later tonight, See Ya then,
Dan

Yes Dan I survived, barely! I think their was 5-6 trashbags full. Maybe I should hav recycled..? lol

Ya the older kids do lik those expessive ass toys, Oh and dont forget those other little things, Batteries! I'm in the wrong bussiness! I should be making batteries that only last a week..
Because by then I'm ready to trash&smash those damn noisy toys! :lol2: Just about everything has them too, it wont be long and our pillows will need batteries.

We did travel on X-mas eve to my in-laws, but it was early and got home at a decent hour. We stayed home on Xmas for a change, some of the wifes relatives came over and we fixed a small dinner. Had a great time, been playing laser tag today, I think I burnt off those extra caleries, thats for sure.

That sucks your foot was giving u trouble. Weather makes my joints ache sometimes, and I dont think I even hav arthritis.

You should rest your foot before u goto Mich, might hav to drive that TVR ! I always wanted a right hand driv, not a jeep though, a car.
Would take some time to get used to, but it would be worth it. The passengers might be freak'd out by being on the center side..haha.

Gir and his mobile sleeping chamber, you may want to look into that coffee maker that plugs into the cig. lighter. Just Kidding...I hope your install goes easy, nothing worse than being under the car fighting a pipe that has a mind of it's own. Are you welding or clamping? which ever...make sure it is sealed up, the noise will only keep you awake a little longer if your suckin' fumes! Oh shit another joke at your expense!

XI fortunatly I am beyond the days of the noise makers, although battery stock would be nice. Those bastards are not cheap, I have realized that it does not pay to buy the cheap ones, they last about half as long as the "Copper Top".

I got a toy this year...I got one of those X-Mods fron the "Shack". I got the 66 Mustang in the original line (they came out with a new line) so the starter kit originally sold for $60.00 but since they are changing they had them on sale for $29.00. These things are cool first off they really move for a small R/C toy, but the add on are great...body kits suspention and tire upgrades, a set of wheels and tires to do drifting, hell they even have a set or real alumium wheels ($24.00) I dont think I need those. They also have a kit to make it all wheel drive as well as motor up grades to crank up the HP. I just bought the motor up grade so I haven't had a chance to play with them yet. I tell you what this must be some serious shit, they have a web site where you can go and build a car so you can see how much you will put into it. They also have races as well as a photo gallery to display your car. it's actually pretty cool, some of the cars are really built. One guy said he had over $350.00 into this little toy car, That is going over my head.

Well, gotta run, the wife needs help getting stuff together for the Mich. trip, I have to go and keep things under control and remind her it is only a 3 day trip not 3 weeks.

Catch you guys tomarrow,
Dan

We will be clamping, none of us know how to weld... also I doubt Im going to have this modification forever... soon it'll be the expensive borla exhaust but thats later... like maybe the start of next summer, give or take.

I think I made a good $10 investment, I had $75 in gift cards at wal*mart... wally world for those few :p ... decided to buy myself a cool computer game $50 - 'Need For Speed: Most Wanted' ... I rarely buy games *wink* ... still got money left .. lets goto the auto department... Floor mats! I need some of those! .. got some cheapie mats that dont look half bad... first day and they're already collecting dirt lol :grinno:

finally cleaned up my insides of my car .. lots of school papers and w/e trash from friends... asses lol, anyways... I had Febreeze! the just for car version cause my younger sister thinks my car smells .. horay. Along with that awsome car wash soap .. think the blue armorall... sponge, and a weird no spot towel thing to dry it off with... not a normal towel.. feels like padding for something else but absorbes water *shrug* works for me... I dont bother washing my car often.. cause in the normal routes I go .. theres construction... either way .. Im gonna get dirty =p

Gir: Good Luck with the Exhaust mod, it should sound sweet when it's all done. I see you bought yourself a nice little present, need 4 speed most wanted... lucky, I seriously have to get with the times here, I need to go buy myself an xbox or playstation, to keep up with the times. The last need 4 speed i got for my comp was hot pursuit.... which is a nice way to go out road rage without being on the road... hahahah

gooman: Sylvania, makes the silverstar foglight bulbs as well, you should take a look for them. I'm waiting for one of my lights to go out before i change to the silverstar or equivalent... but instead i keep replacing brake lights that go out, ( I've given up at the moment and i'm letting them burn out)

XI: Mud is fun to drive in.... especially in the G/A you can get some nice drifting going, plus everyone looks at you like, where the hell were you driving. hahaha I don't know if anybody remembers hurricane Flloyd that hit the northeast, well NJ got pounded, the next town over from me was under 4feet of water ( which was my only way to school at that time) so as roads reopened you drove on 3-4 inched of mud.... Ya the copper tops the best, unfortunatly! THose little X-mods are neet. Last year the had the Zip-Zaps on clearance for $15, we cleaned those out. Didnt get to many hop-ups, but got some tires for differnt surfaces. Now they hav tanks, boats, 4x4s, preety good idea, wished I thought of it!
If I was to spend $350, I'd just buy the gas powerd RC cars/trucks.Well some folks hav more money than brains, ie 350$ for a car that fits in your pocket. :lol2:

Ya Gooman18 , you can buy the driving lights that cost close to $20, ithink, they are brighter than stock. see my sig, I used them. they kick ass!

Hey grfnkl , dont think my GA will be in any Mud! Not on purpose anyway, hav talkin the ditch to avoid damn Deer! But made a quick retreat for the road. I see mud on the road, I drive around it. That shit will scratch the hell outa your paint!

A buddy of mine had one, and would race it around the parking lot of our job, he had to watch out for cars and all, damn it was awesome though. That F250's fenders are really hacked up aren't they?! A lot of people like to do that to the old 60-70's bronco's as well.
My 02 stays out of the mud as much as i can, but with lot of road construction sometimes it's impossible. My 88 I didn't care about the paint since it was and still is in bad condition ( until i get a chance to get it fixed up) Actually the mud made the car look better, hahah after it was muddy clean it off, now the car looked super shiney!

I plan on heading back to PGH. on Sunday AM. to avoid the holiday traffic later in the day or on Monday. I hate Interstate traffic, there is always some idiot running the fast lane at the speed limit with no openings in the right lane. They make sure to pull out in front of you and then slow down and refuse to make the pass. I would love to climb right up their ass and push the along (no road rage here). I just think that those who don't know how to drive the Interstates should stay off them!

Hey Guys,

I know, it's early, but when your like me sleep is a luxury, so since I'm up I figured I'd throw out the "Happy New Year" best wishes. And to all of those who are going to be on the move, "Please, please, please...be careful, have a SAFE New Year celebration, and for God's sake watch out for the other guy, That is one of the reasons I gave up drinking 15 yrs. ago, I realized I could not react in time and I sure as hell didn't want to be the "other guy". And being one of the older guys out here on the GA Forum I will sacrifice sounding like the old man if it helps keep some of you younger guys from getting in trouble. I'd like to make sure we see the same bunch of regulars on Sunday or Monday Bitching about the same old issues. So be good and have fun but DAMN IT be safe.

I here you there Dan! I'm up every day at 5am. If the alarm doesnt wake me, my dogs will. Thought of stoping in at that time, but my finger dont work well in the mornings, not for typing anyways.

Sounds lik you'll be doing the long distance travle this weekend, well you be carfull tooo.
I heard that 1 out of 10 cars you pass on the roads daily, is intoxicated. Thats alot! Now you guys will be counting cars, 1.., 2..., 3... lol!
Danm cops will hav their road check points all over Indiana and I'm sure they do it every where these days. But they are sneaky here, in the most unlikly of places, like county roads. Its fun to screww with them if you havnt been drinking, one beer and they screw with you to get a rise, then they bust you for being disorderly, bastards! lol

new muffler was installed... 3hrs of work up under my car with a friend and a hack saw, a hand hack saw .. similar blade .. fit for a handle .. and lots of bitching :) .. but we got it done

basically, cut right before the resonator weld so we could slip over the exhaust .. that was the hardest part... did that, 2 hrs later =p the resonator finally fell... the front end... this gave us plenty of space to use the hack saw to cut the pipe .... first measured where the muffler was going to slip over that pipe... perfect snug fit ... hammered the exhaust onto the pipe that eventually goes over the rear axel then fitted it with the cat pipe with the flange still there .. there was no way the rusted bolts were coming loose any time soon

anyways.. done and done ... clamped up and tightened and been breaking it in .. the tone has been getting deeper as today went on

basically... cat===muffler====pipethatgoesoverAxel===Original cutoff of muffler, no tip showing in the back... anything I put next to my car doesnt look normal .. need the double dual tip from borla or slp lol

Just wanna wish everyone here on AF a preemptive Happy New Year. Be careful. Im sure that me and all my "under 21" comrades will be intoxicated. Just dont be stupid (I sound like [no offense meant to our "better traveled" forum members] an old man). I can safely say that i will not be on the road tomorrow night. Ill be crashing at my lady's house. Its scary enough when i drive sober. Hmmm...come to think of it maybe ill actually drive better drunk....no im kidding.

Anyways have a good holiday and ill talk to you guys next year.

Later

HAPPY NEW YEAR...I hope everyone is safe and sound?!

Hey, Guys...I am back safe and sound in good old Western PA. It was a good trip, The wife's Aunt's Boyfriend was working on one of his pet projects so after 2 days of being so frigging miserable because of foot pain I finally felt good enough to give him a hand. He bought my wife's Aunt a 68 Vett and is building a new chassis for it. Some awsome shit. I was helping lay is some of the cross braces while he laid the weld. I have never seen a guy lay down a perfect weld to the point of not needing any grinding, Hell, he isn't going to have to lay down any bondo to smooth out the frame rails. He anticipates comming in between 350 and 300 pounds. This frame is going to put the original frame to shame.
I may get a chance to go back up and give him a hand getting it finished...that would be a blast.

One of the best parts of the weekend was when he got a book of sports cars, the kind with a picture or two and then a description. When he got to the European rides he started dropping names of the owners and I would say that he knows at least 80% of the cars and owners. Infact he was telling me about some of the modifications he made to some of the pictured cars. He was also showing me some other books he had that had pics of race cars that he has driven, Ie cars owned by Rothchildes Family (English Bankers) and other cars owned by guys in Pink Floyd. He is actually pretty c;ose to the lead guitarist ( can't remember his name). Any way it is some pretty cool sh*t.

The weather was too crappy to take out the TVR but he said when we get back in the spring we will go ahead and giver her a run.

XI: I know that they have added time to the year many times
Hey did anyone here that some one has added 1second to our time lastnight? Something about the planets rotation compensation, makes you wonder.

In fact I thought I heard that there was 4 seconds added to the year 2000.

I hope you have all gotten over the cocktail flu, have a great day and I'll catch you later.

OH...the ride was pretty uneventfull except for the wrong turn up in Detroit...took a tour but my navigator wasn't feeling well so I can forgive her, what pissed me off is how every one tried to appease me by saying they did the same thing, man I hate that crap. Just say it "Hey you idiot, you screwed up and made a wrong turn ,what an Ass."

See Ya,
Dan

Hey Bobby,

Happy New Year! We got my son the PSP ( what an Qwsome piece of equipment) He must have had it fussed to his hands I do not think he has put it down since Christmas Day.

Hell, that is what it is all about, have a blast with it, We didn't have that kind of thing when we were kids...we had PONG by Atari and we thought that it was hot stuff pouncing a little white dot back and fourth. Just imagine what this world of gamming is going to be like in the next 10 years. I told my boy, "you watch, instead of graphics, you are going to have real people in the game that you will control." You watch, it will happen.
