grfnkl, I took two years of nothing but art at Herron Art school (http://www.herron.iupui.edu/). HAd won 1yr scolarship and paid for the second. The suppies were more than tuition :banghead:
And you do hav a Curriculum that needs followed.
Always Gotta hav something to fall back on down the road, but I liked it. Now its part of IUPUI and cost twice as much to goto.
About all these lighting issues, actually around here, I think its who you know if you get harrased for you custom lights. I personally think they are a waste, just going to get broken anyway. Lol
I still havnt finished my interior lighting, started with the blu acsents in the window buttons(left the locks red), and some Leds shining down on the floorboard from the kick panels above where your legs are and those mirror lights/dome.
Used silicone Gels over the long bulbs and in the window buttons they work really damn well, nice solid colour with out being overly bright or intense.
One day I get me an extra dassh cluster and figure out how to change that EVIL orange glow!!
I know all to well about the art classes, since i endored 4 years of it in college. i had some crappy scholarship that wasn't enough to cover books let alone supplies, that costed way too much money. I had to do all the art classes before i could get into the digital stuff. Here's a link to my page if you want to check out some of my digital stuff...
http://www.geocities.com/grfnkl81
I think for the gauges there is a red/orange plastic plate inside the gauges that make it come out that color. If i remember correctly thats what i saw when i had my gauges out the one and only time.
I would add some interior lights or exterior but i'm always afraid to hack into the electrical system on the car since i don't want to short anything out or put any extra draw on the car.... but otherwise i would love to put some red lighting on the inside... or something unique on the outside...
last weekend i was watching Speed Channel, and they were interviewing Igor and the AF Skyline! I was besides myself since i wasn't expecting to see that
later,

4 years! I guess you had other classes though?
I went 6-8hrs a Day :banghead:
IT was really Before Digital came out for me, I was learning more about my craft(oils) and some water colours, hated that runy crap.
And for more help with sales of my art work and stuff in the future, and Copy writes.
IT was always nice to draw nude chix(real models too) only sometimes you were distracted by something like an inverted Nipple
I havnt had any 99+ GAs dashes out yet. THe older one I hav. But that makes sense to use the plastic like on the heater controls/radio. One day I'll get one out, I still hav a big part of a 99 GT left, been parting it out here and there.
Dont be afraid! the most you can do is blow a fuse or two or three Lol I always find something not used much, like the lighter.
Damn! I missed the interview!
Really wanted to see that, I'll hav to see if its on the reruns.
I'm hoping I can acually make it to one or two races, that would be really f*****g Kool :)

4 years of art classes, made it a mix of traditional art ( painting, drawing etc) and digital and Photography as well as the core liberal art stuff for the school. The art classes I took were about 4-5 hours long. I hated the watered down crap as well. I prefered Charcol or oil paint, but then again i got yelled out for not "expressing myself" enough. LOL The models were awesome, on a rare occasion at my school. Apparently they couldn't afford they good looking models so instead we got Candy, the 400pound woman to draw. now that was a sight to see! Not to mention the woman with the screwed up figure and the guys, UGH... enough to make you sick:puke:
The dash cluster is a bitch to get out and a pain to get back in. Once you get it out it looked pretty easy to disassemble to get to the insides. On my 02 i stay away from the electircal system as much as i can. for my 88, I only on occasion would mess with the electrical system, but it was way to delicate to do anything crazy. It had a lot of problems electrically speaking.
I've wanted to go to the G/a Gt meet in i believe it's in michigan, but a little bit of a far ride for me.
well i better go look like i'm workin, hahahhah yeah right!

yesa we had some Candy's too :( but I would try and get out of those types :)
and the dudes of coarse I'd bail on them too. I did draw one or two, just made them look like the Beast from Beuty and the Beast, hairy and ball less!
That explains your creativeness on your GT in the sig, and the other hybrid you developed.
I'm a thinking the GT I hav will be easy to get out, because it has no steering wheel, and most of the dash has been poped open when I was removing some parts. Hum.. I wonder if the GT cluster would fit my SE?
AS soon as I find myself another daily driver, I'm going to tear into my SE and get the trans replaced, so I can put on the SC I bought from roboticgod!
Hell I might just hav to Ebay the SC so I can get the turbo instead since Gir found a turbo kit for our 3.4s.
Ya thier are GA meets in Mich, from what I;ve heard.
Its hard to look busy all the time. haha!
maybe I should get back before the boss comes back... wait ! I am the boss! Lol
Dont work to hard grfnkl!

Hey everyone
Just wanted to stop by quick to say hello. I really won't be active on the forum much until 2.5 weeks from now, which is when I will return to work term. It's assanine. I simply do not have time for anything right now; but that will change once I get back on work term. I also wanted to let everyone know that Dan (Hoags) has not fallen off the face of the Earth. He is in fact, alive and well. He simply has been having log in issues, which we are trying to resolve. I got to run to class; take it easy everyone.

I hav prepared my GA over the years though, not like I did it all in a day(though that would be nicer).
Hell, bolt ons is where I started.
You ever get a Cai on that GA of yours Gir?
After that, If I were you, I'd hit those Power Slot rotors and Carbo/metalic pads
Most important thing about going fast, you gotta stop sometimes :grines:
But from what youre saying, probley should hit the tire Shop for some new skins before the CAI and Brakes. Though I hav had those cheap brands "Maypop", anytime now! :)

I um, sorta took on a 240sx se after school today =o noticed the bastard pulled right behind me.. (I dislike this kid and his oversized weird tipped exhaust) and we both go the same way home.....
I basically stayed ahead of em going thru traffic (85+ ) just my fine driving Ive learned from my cousin riding in his grand prix... finally he pulled up to a light and he was turning right and I was still going straight :) and he gave me a mean look :iceslolan .. stupid punk, shouldnt be driving fast
His car is basically stock from what it looks like, cept for this huuge stupid looking exhaust that connects probly at the flange or w/e.. dunno.. I Just see under there a huge square thing, looks like a muffler about to scrape the ground, and then some chrome pipes and this huge useless exhaust tip... a close up of it.. its like... chrome, then the tip is blue w/e pretty crap
ill roll by his house someday and snap some pics for you guys to laugh at :p

Well Guys, I went and done it.
Bought me another GA!
A 99' GT metalic green~ not a bad deal either. Has a busted front low bumper and the radio display is out totally, works though, has 84kmls. I'll try and get some pics up later-on.
From what the Dealer says, it never had any gaskets leaking or any other problems, so I'm sure I'll be doing some work on it in the near future.

The tires might hav been a gooood idea, rainy seasons on its way, its already here at my house.. Should hav bought a baot maybe?...! .. Bald tires will surly foul up driving on the wet ass roads for sure.
It has been really warm here too, hoping its here to stay and not just some F****** Joke!
Better look your best going to test drive those cars on your list. I seen an article about the V8 gxp, didnt get to read it though. They are all nice cars, being Ponticas and all :lol
Oh and the Nissan, they make kick ass cars/motors.
Hav fun :thefinger:, dont forget the SPF :thefinger: dont drown'd :thefinger: :lol2:

Xi: Nice G/A. How much did you get it for? I like the Green color, normally I don't care for the greens, but that metallic green looks nice. Maybe it's cause of teh more olive green that they put on the newer g/a's. Is this g/a the new "toy" or are you going to continue on the SE?
Gir: Have fun on spring break... lucky bastard!
That list of cars is a good one, I would drive the G/A first though this way it doesn't seem like a major disappointment compared to the GTO and GXP. Others to test drive ( that i would want)
New Monte Carlo SS
Saturn Ion Redline ( curious to see how it handles)
STS-V
The list could go on forever....

Thanks grfnkl.
The pic looks darker than it really is, well in the sun its lighter but saturday after I got it, it looked a different color green.. :dunno: But I got it for $4k.
The front bumper is broken in the middle(just gonna jerry rig it for now) and some minor cosmetic trim/things.
One thing I do know, its been leaking oil out the intake for a while, you can tell by its dark burnt apperance, not bad or any thing that looks "fresh" so the LIM is on the list.
And the bulb for the radio display was out, luckily I had a couple laying around :)
Since I will probley driv this one and yank the trans out of the SE and I'm thinking of stuffing a SC that I had bought a while back.
I thought of selling it to get the Turbo that Gir had posted, but I'm going to keep it. Just shop around and see if a can find a turbo kit cheaper, but still high quality.
Hey Gir-_-, was was just kidding on the :thefinger:'s !

Xi: I think the color you have is better then the color on the newer ones, I think they've made now 3 or 4 different color greens for the 99+ G/a's, anyway from what you've mentioned it seems like you got a good deal on it. something to play with as i would look at it. It doesn't sound like it needs to much work as of the moment. i have the same crack in my front bumper, which thankfully hasn't gone all the way through, which nothing but a small L bracket couldn't fix. Lookin at your pics though, the car looks good, even the engine compartment, mine looks terrible right now with all the greasy hand prints from the intake leak repair. Keep us posted on how everything works out. How have you made out with the SVS light, any luck?

An L-braket...? That just might work for mine, hate to buy a new one
Greasy hand prints! :nono:
The SVS is still on, but I didnt hav time today to fuss with it.
I am leaning toward the wheel speed sensors.
Got the "Low trac" and "abs" light on last night after hot roding it around a bit :) Shut it off and they went out.
Sure as shit, I try to get the lights to come on again, with a scanner runing and it'll not do it, thats how it goes...
I'll get to it sometime this week though.
Damn cold spell is really screwing with vehicles this week, bussy as hell!
Catch ya later
You were right about the weather, just looked at a US map and the rain is just on the other side of Illinois and headed this way. Great! :lol

New iridium plugs installed, runs great... was less than 25ft from my house and my back tires slid out from me and I tried to correct then I over turned *stupid me...* .. do note, all while having the breaks down and I was only going about 16mph =p ... went thru a construction fence .. lil thing with wire and black tarp kinda stuff and took out a metal pole in the ground ... and into the ditch I went .. car flew past the ditch and hit mainly the left side of the bumper.. dented and warped it up .. knocked out the fog light ... air dam is all torn
Ill get pics of it soon...
While I was bitching, I decided to go ahead and install my taylor spiro pro wires I got from pfyc.com... might as well =p .. those installed.. runs fine... looks like I hit a small animal -shrug
If the dealership is nice (if we actually get a new front) I wonder if they'll give me a GT front nice and painted for the same price...

With an ouch for the damage!! Yeah my girl's was a '96 GT, sweet ride, but she got T-boned awhile back. She fine, np, but the car went nada, sigh. Not to say I was less worried about her than the ride, though.
I popped back in, now my Net is on, been here earlier.
Why the iridiums?

Oh, I already had Karma!?! she wasnt bad :)~
Sounds like a fun ride Gir-_-, JK
Good thing you werent going 30 :lol might hav hit your house :nono:
those plugs gave you so much toque...
BTW-Gir ask them about that change, because they cost the same se or gt.
Though I think the SE's are tougher/stronger because they hav more suports acrossed the front than the GT's.
My GTs busted but thats the least of my worries right now :banghead:
Oh ya, Iridiums are the shit for GAs high energy ignitions(hei). They hav out lasted any other plugs I hav used in the past.

Yea I guess so, I feel the difference after I put on those 8mm wires, accel is faster, more torque... kinda goes hand in hand since I have a fresh new IAC =p ... passing people on the way home was a sinch... just WOT and go
I was talking with one of my friends tonight whos friends with that guy who owns the 240sx or w/e .. says all hes done is a CAI and that huge dumb exhaust.... I was surprised.... hes just a kid with money and doesnt know what to spend it on so its wasted on something huge and retardedly not useful at all.. just scrapes up the road :D
If we decide to do the new front Im going to def. ask about the GT front... I've been wanting it =p.. I just like the look better... what also sucks is the passenger fender I guess is bent up in the front... and the paint is cracked slightly.. sure that might be able to be fixed at a shop somewhere.... I just want to go back in time and for all this crap to not happen :disappoin

Well Gir, at least its still drivable :)
At least it didnt set your air bags off
Its a mess when they deploy, and stinky from the explosives they use to eject the bags.
So was it wet out or something causing the slide?
Time travel,....Hum, that will cost ya
Happy ST. Patrick's Day !

gir: you come back and mess up your g/a! that is not good news. I can definetly say all to well that i know the feeling and wanting to go back in time... If you are looking for a GT bumper the dealer wil ask about 200-300's for it ( primered) plus the moldings, emblems, and "grill" inserts ( the rings inside the ram air nose) are all extra. You could also try the junk yard for one or even on ebay it's seen a quite a few. Look at it this way the car is driveable and you didn't hit something a little more solid such as a telephone pole or building cuz that would have sucked big time.

I guess thier probly is sandy stuff on the roads , duhh!
Like grfnkl said, try the Salvage yards(might find one that matches your paint) or even Ebay. If you buy from Ebay make sure you know what all you are geting(parts and grills).
Damn! that does bite dude!
Been squeeling round in my GT the past couple days, on all the sandy crap.
I finally fixed the GT too! not what I thought it was, but a cheap fix. one wheel speed sensor was half unpluged(GD Dealers!) the other had bent prongs so it wasnt connected at all.
#20 relay auto light control , DRL #22 relay , and #16? the AC compressor.
AS a matter of fact, all the damn fuses and relays were loose, like they were all removed and halfassed it back together.RRRRRrrrrrrrrrr ! I hate mechanics!

I was lookin to replace most of that, some of the pieces behind the front are just old and worn, a 5 year old could take em out with a simple rip...
Basically, new GT front/pontiac emblem/ I can use the grills I already have, they're fine...
new rubber insides that direct air
new left air dam
new left fog light mount (original light/bulb is fine)
Maybe new left headlight assembly but I think its just knocked out looking because the front is jacked up...
And a new left fender, cause the metal is bent and there are cracks of paint in 1 area... but if need be, that can wait unless it conflicts with the front =p dunno *shrug* ... Tis going to be costly :disappoin
The mount I could probly find in a junkyard of some sort and maybe the left air dam... I wish the fender too but I'd be very picky with the color actually matching :shakehead

there is nothing like bringing attention to your car with a random scraping noise! LOL. There is always the infamous crunch noise when pulling into a driveway with a steep incline...
If you cant find some copper wire, duct tape works just as well :iceslolan it just doesn't look as appealing.

This is the exact opposite of a show vehicle we built it to tackle the trails up in Wisconsin and that’s what it does. we had a blazer there at one time but weight issues can up and the motor just went out on the car so we put the two together.

Hey XI, quick question...
Was wondering... Ive heard it before but Ive forgotten... its possible to get a altenator that outputs more power correct? ... Was thinking that or when I eventually during the summer when I finish off my sound system with the 5-way speakers in the back + 12" w/ sub I was wondering if Id have enough power supplied or to look into a battery thing you see overused in show :p lol

Yes you can , just hav to look around though. I bought mine at a local shop where they rebuild them.
Not cheap, around $200 for a 120amp.
The stockrs are 105amp, GM parts direct lists them for $310.81, but sell @ $155.42 p/n 10464424 . those are rebuilt too.
5-way speakers eay! going for DTS or THX feel? Be kickass w/DVD! And metal!
You will definatly need a bgr altnr with any Big Amps in you audio system thats for sure. If not , when you break at night, your lights go out
Thinking about actually using the SE for a show car :)
What do you think? or :thumbsdow
I fugure after I pull the engine/trans, Everything will be super clean, throw on some yello lowering springs, hit some of the other mods with the yello paint.
Yello urethane sway bushings , control arm bushing... just deck it out. W/ SC of coarse!

 it'd be a little bit more extra $$$ to get it prepped as a show car but hey it'd be nice... Just gotta start making it look real badass :D
I already have those 3-way pioneers in the front and they took to the delco just fine, but not what they can handle... they're ment for a tad bit more power ... actually need a new radio with EQ so I could place more bass to the back.... another thing on my to do list lol...
Thinkin about quitting my blockbuster job... it pays but not enough for my needs .... it shouldnt be like this just having always under $200 or so... cant even cover for a speeding ticket w/o saving for it.
Might go work at a food place w/ tips, it'd be better...

It does take a considerable amount of $$ to get the car to that level. Then to travle to the shows is more$$$. ITs jsut something I'm considering.
You radio doesnt hav the CD and Eq? I just assumed all 99 and ups had the halfway decent radios.
One thing I like about the new GT, its got a tape deck
Quit your j.o.b.?... I know people who work in factories for $200/40hrs that sucks!
You can make more at some food places, around here Taco hell and Wendys start out at $7-8hr. If you are a wiatress/busboy you make like $2.75hr +tips, but You hav cash everyday I suppose.
Minuim wage should be at least $8-9 hr! You cant live on $5 something hr , hell I dont even know what it is.... You're just exsisting at that price. Guess thats the way the government like to keep us, broke and owing out the wazzu.
Got a couple friends who just started at a factory and they make light bulbs for $14hr!! They work overtime daily:lol
But when youre in school or just geting out, its hard to get a good job that pays well. Unless you lie on apps about your age, its probley harder to get away with today though, but I did it for three years(:sly:) and it was hard to work 4-midnight then go to highschool all day :banghead:

I used to take all that stuff and I increased mass to a point, then It just didnt do the trick any more. What a waste of money! :banghead:
You need mass, you need to eat more chicken and lean beef. LOTS of carbs, lots of Vegies!
Hit the wieghts daily, and you'll bulk up just as good as with all those fillers:)
I used to be thin as a rail, but dont worry as time goes by so do those pounds. Hell I wieghed 150 till 97' then I had a wreck(in a ga) and in 8 months I wieghed over 300! F***ing sucked!
Its takin me several years to get back into shape, like the bow flex comercials "i'm 40 and in the best shape of my life" what a crock! that guy looked like that since he was 13yrs old  that chick too!
The human bodies an amazing machine, run the shit out of it, and you'll see improvments daily, but you hav to feed it right though, thats the hardest part.
Damn, I'm runing on... I just rememberd I hav some of those pics from the Supercross back on the 4th, I'll post some while I'm here.

Hey guys,
just dropping in to say hi, I've been busy as hell this past week or two, I can't even keep track.
Hey gir: becareful with the bulk gain stuff, it can have some bad effects on your body. I do agree with XI though the human body is an amazing machine. I gained massive amount of weight one year after i lost my job and was sitting on my ass all day... I closed in on 200 lbs, when i'm normally only 130ish. But through exercise and a very slight diet change ( as well as being sick) I lost all the wieght in about 2 weeks, right before going on vac to italy... Gotta look hot for the italian chicks. :iceslolan
This past weekend, I'm am proud to say that i resurrected my aunt's Vette from the dead. I fixed a few parts, put a battery in, Charged it. then after about 20 cranks it turned over. Mind you the car has sat for close to 6 years... so I'm very pleased to say it turned over. I do have to do somehting with the fuel system, since it does stall out after a minute or so. I can say though after doing this work, that i really can't complain about the g/a with tight spaces or having to take apart for repairs, cuz the vette is far worse. The battery alone took me close to an hour to get out, becuase of all the screws and panels i hafto remove. Well i better go, go work to do. ( please mind my horriblke spelling mistakes. I whacked my finger with a hammer so it's a little tough to type this moring.)
Later guys,
Enjoy your day

Hey grfnkl!
Glad to here you resurected a Vette.
You get it to fire up too?
Lucky the piston/rings wernt seized up in the cylinders, dont take to many years sometimes for that to happen. But if it was garaged the whole time that deffinatly helps keep things moving free'r.
Hey dont work to hard grfnkl  I know I'm not :)

Xi: The vette has been garaged for almost the past 5 years, at first it was outside in the driveway for a few months or more, then one day it was in the garage. It didn't fire up right away, it took sometime, but after a few clouds of smoke (from oil and from some new parts) and pumping the gas it started! The best thing was though when it started the check engine light didn't come on! WOHOO! :icon16:
Thankfully I took your advise and i didn't work hard today, actually since it was such a ncie day out i decided that i was gonna leave early, plus i had an interview... but i got to enjoy the awesome day out! enjoy the rest of your day

A garage makes it so much easier to get them going after that long. Surprised the fuel wasnt gummy in the tank.
Really kicks ass when you dont get the service lights, but giv it time.
Btw-What year is the Vette?
The weather was great here today too. Till around 6 then it started to rain, again :disappoin
Not like I could take the whole day off, guys at the shop would strike :) I guess we all took it easy today though, tipical Mondays
At least its warming up here east of the Mississippi River  Suposed to be in the uper 60's this week, but wet as usual.
Global warming at its finest, brought to you by EXON and other Dinofuels :lol2:

Well I'm not holding my breath for the service lights, hopefully they don't come on any time soon...(makes it that much easier to sell it) I think the fuel is bad, cuz i had to pump the gas to get the car to run and i couldn't get it over 2200 rpm so if i had to guess it's probably blocked up. The worst part it's nearly a full tank though so i'm gonna try to work around this minor set back. The vette is an 1984 with the targa top, white ext, tan/black int. This was the first year of the "newer" body style.
Well yesterday we didn't get any rain just clear. We are in a fire danger though, very rare for us. By the end of the week it supposed to be close to 70 degrees!

YA I'd drain that tank of stale gas, It'll run much better I'd bet! Always seems to crap out with a full tank :[
At least, when ever I've had fuel pumps go bad, the tanks usually pretty damn full.
Fire danger? thats not good. A couple summers back in IN they passed a law on fliping cigarettes out the car window, and they enforce it year round now.
Glad I quit! Had a few friends get pulled over and given a ticket, $100! Then while you are stoped they look for alcohol or drugs with K9s.
I think they think alcoholics and drug addicts are the only ones fliping butts out thier windows. Hav been less fires though, guess it might be helping.

I;m trying to avoid draining the tank if i can, since i don't have the tools to do so. Maybe this weekend i'll mess around with it some more and see what happens and see what else i can find wrong, which i know will be plenty...:banghead:
The fire danger isn't good, but it's rare for this time of year, I'm used to hearing about it during the summer if we are in a drought... but usually never in the winter. Actually a few days ago there was a brush fire maybe 10-15 miles from where i live. they'll pull you over for the cigarette thing to, but for littering instead. we don't have the type of extremes that you have over there. The most i've experienced was being boxed in by 5 cop cars... :uhoh: but i did nothing wrong just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The easest way to drain the tank without removing it, would be to get two hoses and a trash bag.
One hose being small enough to go all the way into the tank through the fill neck, and a shorter one.
Stick the long one all the way into the gas, the short one just stick into the neck. Rip a big piece of the trashbeg off and wrap it around the two hoses and stuff it into the neck tightly.
What you want to do is blow in the short hose, then the pressure builds up and pushes the fuel out of the long hose that you can put in a gas can.
even if you dont get it all out, it gives you a chance to see what the fuel looks like. And once you ad fresh gas to whats left it should be OK to go.
Just a little trick I picked up after drinking gasoline once when I tried to syphon it out. Tastes like it smells  Not Good!
See the no ashtray was a plot planed by the Govn. to fine us when we flip'd them out of the car. I'd hate to see what the fine was out west where it burns all year round.
I guess Cops need to hav fun "pretending" they are doing something good for a change. :) I've had 1 pulled me over for a plate light out and 3 more show up like its some big freaking deal. :shakehead

thanks for the tip for the gas tank, i'll keep that in mind when i get a chance to work on teh vette some more. but it sounds easy enough... I'll just have to get a hose, which i may have lying around anyways!
I feel most fines are money makers, implemented so someones wallet can be fatter. so you had 3 cops for a license plate light, wow that sounds like around here, but you forgot to add the spot lights shining on the car, adn them talking through the loud speaker as if you just robbed a convience store. LOL, cuz that';s what you may get around here! HAHAH! My little experience was cuz they thought i helped steal a car. I heard a car get stolen, saw it drive away, heard it hit either a person or another car cuz i heard screams, when i went to check it out, i got boxed in, and all because the one get away car was a pontiac sunbird. thankfully my g/f brother was a cop in town, so we just said his name and they sent us on our way... stupid them never asked me a damn thing, when i practically saw it all! oh well!
