Could be some grounding issues, you do live by the coast.
Where sea salts are in the atmosphere, that creates a corrosive enviroment for mr corrosive to habitat. Just my hypothisis anyway

Yes the CAI will be louder drawing the air in and others will here it too (cop'r's). Hell even with a cheap ass WAI its pretty loud. I did also knowtice a Big increase in take off and when revs are high.
I went around today to try and find some aluminum, or ss pipe @ 3", everybody just laughed. No one even had any exhaust pipe that big :shakehead And they call them selves parts stores :screwy:
You talking about the forum colors ?? Mines always on traditional. Though it loaded fast :dunno:

Yea I just hope its worth that much money.... kinda breaking the bank on it... I should just hold off on it though. It'd be the smart thing to do :disappoin
I wouldnt feel so bad ordering it later on when I have actual spending money for it ... Id feel better getting rotors cause later on this week Im getting my brakes changed soon... (need it bad)

You just getting the AeroForce Tech Interceptor Scan Gauge with the Scan tool?
From what thier Example Parameters says it can do several things. Doesnt sound like its to hard to hook up either. Hell its worth it just for clearing codes.
You might not like that chrome ring on those other 2 gauges, sun reflecting could end up being a PITA :grinyes: Or a PIT eyes :)
From what the AeroForces Parameters list, it can check trans temps and oil pressure.............. Hmm.
I might hav to add one of these gauges to my PFYC list, since it can read so many things, be great when your out and about and you get a damn trouble code.
You can check it, and clear it, sweeeeeeeeeeeeet !!
Ya grfnkl, I hear what your saying about decieving ads. They seem plentiful on the Net.
Definatly read the fine print!

At least your thinking about this wisely, that's better then most people......The reasons why i'm waiting off, well 1st money of coarse, too many bills to pay for... 2nd, the damn electrical gremiln which shows up every few days, I'm afraid I'm gonna fry it do to this problem and finally when i normally buy big ticket items such as this my car gets wrecked...and plus i'm due for another accident anyways, so for me it's better to wait.... LOL

yes it is wise that you are thinking this out Gir.
I know how I was when I was your age, money just bunt holes in All my pockets.
If you just got the Aeroforce, from what I read, it'll do what those other two gauges do. Save money and space
But I would call and ask them what all options it has for Your Grand Am. It does say that it varies from model to model.
I believe it'll fit right in that center vent on the dash tooo ! :grinyes:
So You still gots the Gremlins Paul ?
By any chance hav you checked the grounds on the fuse panels, and the fuse box under the hood??
My SE had the pos and neg loose on the one under the hood :dunno:
It poped some lights and fuses, took it a time or two before I realized thier was a serious short.
Can get ugly from those electrical gremlins.....
Good Hunting !

BACK SEAT CLIPS...... PITA!!!! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
Finally figured out that they can be clipped to the metal bars on the seat ... THEN snapped in... but Im still having problems doing just that .. argg .. soo difficult ... and now I have a new smell in my car .. no longer its my smell .. or a colonge smell... or a burn of insense smell  *lol* .... its like... I just shampoo'd and moved the dirt around and it smells now smell... greeeaat... it kicks fabreeze's ass :shakehead
yesterday I went to ... lets see.... Home Depot, They dont sell small sections of their carpet padding... grr... some lady said maybe Hobby Lobby.... eh yea they had foam but not what I wanted.... so I took the lady's word on the place down the highway.. some little bitty carpet shop that hardly looked like it got business.... went in and told em my situation ... guys like .. this thin of carpet? .. nah I said.. it was a bit thicker (carpet sorta padding under the backseat... it stank!) ... so he took me do his carpet lair in the back and showed me this one bit a little thicker ... just right! ... I figured 2x6 foot should be good ... hes like ... how much ... Ehhhh ..... 3 by 6 foot ... boom, cuts it out for me for FREE!!!!!!!! .. that was awsome ... threw that smelly foam in the empty back and went home...
Total time was about 2 1/2 hours spent cleaning the metal and vaccuming the bits of food and scrubbing grime/gunk off of the metal and everywhere else.... then placed some plastic sort mats you put in a big tool box so ur tools dont slide around .. placed it down first to protect the metal ... duct taped it up ... then got my piece of foam and sized it up .. cut it to where I wanted it ... cut that piece out .. sized it and fitted ... taped it down good.. really good... then I had 2 more pieces of that toolbox stuff so I just placed those over the foam as protection from god knows what .. more duct tape and sealed the deal ... and bitched at the clips and just gave up ....
It was about 96F the whole time I was out there with no AC... very stinky me lol
I felt very accomplished to know THAT part of the car is clean heh...
I had to use Tar and Gum remover spray to get that gunk .. it smell soo bad once it got sprayed and wet :bloated:
Those black toolbox mats I placed down are great for sound insulators... dont hear my muffler as much from the back...
before I ramble on some more... ending this post
-------------------
Edit: eh yea f**k it, one more thing...
I ordered from pfyc.com:
3 gauge pod
2 blue LEDs
Trans temp AND A/F Gauge
A/F Pigtail (hope the trans temp comes with its sensor I put on the trans)
total of $215 after shipping... I dont feel so bad anymore heh.
UPS site says I should get it sometime 6/02 (friday) and was shipped out at 10:15 P.M. (5/31) In Kansas.. Woo! talk about service.

Gir: yeah those back seat clips are PITA's! LOL My back seat must have been taken out after my accident when they were repairing the car, well they didn't put it back in properly, I didn't figure this out until i picked up my aunts german shepard, he jumped in the back and the seat went flying! LOL. If you ordered all that yesterday and it's due to arrive tomorrow, thats awesome turn around time!
Xi: yeah i'm still battling the gremlins but i did find one of the causes... which was my battery since it was leaking acid everywhere. I do know i have a ground short, I'll have to check the one you mentioned on the fuse block and see if one of the cables are loose, it may explain why my car wouldn't start with a new battery. I already checked the one on the neg, battery, which was good. so we will see!

Xi, Which flames are you talking about... the ones under the hood? It took me awhile to do those since i had a hard time finding the vinyl in the size i wanted and i had to hand draw and cut it out.... but it was totally worth it. Oh just wanted to give you an update, I did the injector on the vette, ( thanks again) still wont start, but battery needs charging. Oh and i gave up on the electrical gremlins...they took over the car and it's out of my league so i'll see if my mechanic can figure out whats going...

I wasn't sure which flames your were talking about since i put flames on so many things that i've lost track. The vette, i know the battery is low due to all the attempts at starting, so once i charge it, it should turn over ( hopefully) My gremlins took over the car to the point that i lost power on the highway after hitting my brakes, the car at times had no power, so when i would get in the car i would have no clue if it would start or not, and it was turning on random dash warning lights. now the answer to my problem which i don't completely get is the battery cables. The cables were fine but they weren;t making a strong connnection, and they added washers.... I don't understand why now this happened... but as long as it's done and over with i don't care!

It does run fine, hell its the original factory gaskets , go figure! With 95k miles, that has to be some sort of record
Got her apart last night, figure I hav the SE so I'm in no big hurry on the GT.
Let the Stangs try and walk all over the SE :) :grinyes:

xi: Well i think you have now redefined the term "broken in" LOL Seriously though, 145?!!!! I have a few questions to that... Is that any actual pic of you doing 145? and if so you must have been cruisin since the rpms were nice and low.... and how the hell were you holdin straight and taking a pic at the same time? My Gt would crap itself if i hit those speeds...

Been lots of bears out where they regularly arent..
That was funny though !!
Ya Paul that pic is unaltered, size was reduced only.
I didnt take the pic, passenger did.
Happened when I was chasing the Stang. I was crusing about 100 and he came outa NO WHERE so i thought it was the cops(unmarked) so I let them go.
Once I seen it was Timy is his dadys Stang, I pursued. 150 and I couldnt catch them :dunno: as I was slowing down the rmps droped, probly overdrive kicking out, pic was taken. And thats when the LIM started it leak.... :shakehead
But crusing @ 130-140 the rpms werent that high 2500 or so(gotta lov OD). And yes I removed the governer when I replaced the bcm a few weeks before.
Well the SE has had a good Nap, I drove it to a Jagar Fest last night, about 150 miles away. A nap done her good :)
The Fest was F***ING AWSOME !!!!!!!
I'll try and post some pixs of the festivities..

for a stock GA SE and a GA GT .. How does the GT get that extra 5HP stock? Just curious...
xeroinfinity
06-12-2006, 08:33 AM
Hp ratings are over rated! :lol2:
My SE when I first got her, I ran on a dyno and it was 182 Whp, not the 175 gm says.
Mostly its done by a richer fuel ratio and timing.
Thier might be some engine internals that are a little diff too. I havent really compared engine internals though on the 3.4s.
Transmissions are diff too, but both my GAs hav the 4t45e.

Would it be smart to switch with the GT trans if it were different?
Handle any differently?
Just bored asking questions =)
oh and XI, on the service engine soon problem I had... I do recall forgetting that MAF sensor and the little plug on the side being plugged in.. I ran it for about 3 mins going... wtf is wrong with it?! haha.. but its all fixed now... light went away eventually once it realized everything is ok =)

Paramount and Dreamworks are producing a live action Transformers movie (executive producer Steven Spielberg), due out in July 2007. Word from director Micahel Bay and producer Don Murphy is that GM cars will play a major role in the film. Some rumors include a Hummer and even a 2009 GTO :evillol: . But here are some photos of one confirmed GM vehicle: a 2008 Camaro.
The story from the movie apparently is that an Autobot named Bumblebee (who was originally a VW Beetle in the cartoon) starts off as a 2nd gen Camaro. He gets destroyed, and rebuilt as a 2008 Camaro.
Lots of this is rumors and speculation, but you can see the photos for yourself. As a GM fanatic, I'm thrilled that we might get to see a 2008 Camaro featured in a big budget summer blockbuster next year.
Seems like a big commitment for a car that has not been given the official greenlight, huh?

The GT has the 4t45e, which has a better gear ratio the the 4t40e, which is whats in Most SE's.
My SE's trans was changed by a dealer in Arizona before I bought it, so I dont know why they didnt use the 4t40e.. Other than availability at the time of the break down anyway.
YA leaving things unpluged can get a SES. probly the drank gas while they were disconnected  Shit happens ! :grinyes:
2008 Camaro ! I had read that some where earlier this year, But I havnt heard anything new. Didnt figure they'd be to long on bringing it back.
Kinda resembles one of the concept cars I saw for Chrysler/Dodges ???

Xi: it makes sense with the rpms being so low, cuz i was about to say. The last time i broke 100 i was sitting at 3000 rpms. Although i figured the governer has something to do with it.
Isn't the difference between the Se and GT 5 Horses? The se has 170 and the Gt has 175? I thought i read it was cuz of the crappy plastic "ram air" under the hood? I definetly can vouch that the SE with the 3.4 feels to have more horses then the GT stock. Even the 4 bangers have a decent punch to them. If i realized the SE's were quick as they were i would have gotten one of them instead, cuz then i could have gotten the color i really wanted.
that camaro is sweet. I hope they actually put that into production... and keep it REASONABLY priced... cuz then they'll definetly put some competition into the mustang and charger and what ever else is out there!

Better ratios sounds about right ... bet its a combo with the ram-air & the ratios being different...
Could the GT trans be used tho in a SE?
Those sensors being un-hooked did actually eat gas... I remember reading somewhere that when one of those are unplugged that that the pcm thinks its 32F outside lol....
I cant wait to get my intake, my car is so lagged during the heat of the day but once night comes its like new....... Which reminds me I gotta call up the doctor speed guy today and see whats up.. its been weeks since I placed my order... right when I did the sale ended AND he was out of stock :disappoin ... I feel tho it was money well spent.

Actually Paul, I had trew it outa gear too right when the pic was probly taken not sure.
Things go by very fast at those speeds, so I was focused on the pavement!!
It was on a seperated interstate(I65) 2lanes, close to being dark(around 9pm). Was going to Indy and the place I was going to closed at 10pm. just made it !
Ya bring back the Camero! Not just for the stang or charger, but in 08 thier supposed to bring back the Challenger! THough your right about price, they arent for the average Jo to buy as a daily drivers. Unless Jo makes 65k a year, with no wife and kids Lol ! Oh ya or morgage!
Ya Gir the GT trans is what I hav in my SE. Everything bolts right up as the 4t40e does.
Summer doesnt even start till the 21st.
Heats cookin one half the US, and storms are brewin on the other side.
I think this year will set records on the temps and those nasty f***in hurricanes!
BTW-Better keep those CATS on your cars guys !

mission accomplished?
A/F Gauge all hooked up, power, ground, sensor ... and mounted .. whew f*ck its hot out thurr.... also managed to hook up the blue LED to the dimmer nice and easy task... Also grounded and ready to go ... works .. I played with it for a min or two haha...
As goes for theeee fuse question... at the moment the only 'working' gauge is my A/F ... and I just have it stuck into the Radio ACC fuse... the trans LED is on the dimmer so thats taken care of... I dont THINK ill be over loading that fuse if I were to just use the all LED lit up Gauge and the Trans temp mechanical (needle) gauge on just 1 fuse... but also what comes into place is the use of my Cobra Radar detector....... I've already killed one and got it replaced!?! lol ... it calls for a 12V just like the gauges do but ehh.... just kinda bleh about hookin it up to that same fuse .. anything else that turns on when the key is turned????? ... Perferably on the driver's side -_- .. to much of a pain to run somethin all the way across to the other .. and/or inside the engine bay heh
one last thing.... IS there any way that I can over load a wire? ... I have 3 black wires hooked up to 1 black wire that I ran straight to the negative on the battery... wasnt to hard either... I was just wondering if that one single wire could/might be being overloaded with negative going back to ground... at the moment im sure its fine .. its an LED instrument and an actual LED lol

Glad to hear you got'r hooked up
I would not put more than 1 fuse tap per fuse :nono:
That pic from GAGT has 3 fuses taped, maybe 4, thiers ablack wire I seen too :dunno:
And I would keep an eye on that wire you ran to the battery. Couldnt you hav grounded it to the metal under the dash?? That would hav been easier I think.
YA a,b,d or f would be safe fuses to tap.
Nothing critical(like turn sig, brake light, fuel pump, etc) should be taped just in case you do blow a fuse, you'll still be able to drive it.
You might not hav an A (steering wheel controls) fuse... maybe evn the F, its power mirror.

eh yea the power mirror is on all the time =( sadly (or so I think...) ... just want it all to come on at once when the car is actually on .. the LED is fine... it'll be the only LED on the dimmer .. looks great btw, I might as well go get a pic or 2 at night =)

heres a pic of a possible ground in the fuse panel area, just behind the dimmer switch.
Ground 1 (http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c242/xeroinfinity/SeCond%20Hand/fuseground1.jpg)
This is of the light bracket under the dash, one on both sides.
Ground 2 (http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c242/xeroinfinity/SeCond%20Hand/floorlightground2.jpg)
As far as key'd power....powerd sunroof(right fuse box though)if you hav that 1, the fog light fuse, think thats on the right too......
Oh YA ! the wiper fuse C, thats key'd and in the left FB.
Those gauges or the Leds dont really pull that much current(pushing current back though the ground).
But thier is a bottle neck at the 1 wire.
Might check it after you've been cruising for the evening or something. Just see if it gets Hot.

so I got my DHP PCM already in the mail.. so fast Xo
I installed it and I QUOTE..
SECURITY RELEARN PROCEDURE
In the event that your vehicle fails to start after installing the DHP 1.0 PCM, you will need to perform the Security Relearn Procedure. This procedure allows the PCM to function properly in your vehicle. Follow the steps listed below completely.
1. Attempt to start the car by turning the key to the Start/Run Position.
2. Observe that the vehicle fails to start and that the security light is illuminated.
3. Release key to the 'ON/Accessory' Position. (DO NOT turn key to the 'off' position.)
4. Allow the vehicle to sit with the key in the 'ON/Accessory' Position for no less than 11 minutes.
5. Turn key to off position and allow the vehicle to remain in the 'OFF' position for no less than 30 seconds.
6. Repeat #1 - #5 for 3 cycles.
7. On 4th attempt, car should start.
NOTE : Since this is a fairly long procedure, I would limit all electrical sources, such as disconnecting headlights, to prevent discharge of battery.
NOTE 2 : It is SAFE to wait LONGER than the allotted time, but it is not safe to wait less time. I.e. 12 minutes instead of 11 minutes should be safe; however, waiting 10 minutes instead of 11 minutes is not safe.
Properly executed, this procedure should take approximately 35 minutes to complete.
So im doing this, sat there for a good 12 mins in the ON position after my car wouldnt start... turned it off for less than 30 seconds.. then tried to start my car again (THINKING - it wouldnt start up cause hey I gotta go thru this 2 more times....)
AND MY CAR STARTS UP!??!??!?!? :banghead: :screwy:   :sly: :bloated: :1zhelp: :iamwithst :22yikes: :wtf:
I only did it once! and started up with the new PCM installed..... soooooo I kinda goo uhhh.. *scratches head* ... let it run for a little bit .. (thanks to my A/F Gauge I could see it was runnin pretty lean) .. sounded like a gargling v8 almost heh ... so I rev'd it to around 1800 to get some air flow and see if it'd fix ... sorta fixed ... decided... well hey does it drive?
yes, and no... Dealership trip is in the works tomorrow for that CASE relearn
Basically .. my revs are still going up to 3800 and it'll cut off ... ummmm... I went ahead and put in some 93oct fuel just in case .. seemed to be better after that... uhhhh the shifts are short... very short but I also havent done the CASE learn.... its like the computer split everything on the speed in half ... I goto 4th gear pretty quick because of the limit up to around 55 is what I want to guess it'll goto easy ...
On a positive note... it accel's pretty quick even short shifting
Any ideas? about to go send a msg to DHP.
-----------edit
I think I screwed up on the 30 second OFF thing, pretty sure mine wasnt 30 seconds.
But I did though wait a good time, it just wasnt timed like my 12mins with the ON position...
Properly executed, this procedure should take approximately 35 minutes to complete.

grfnkl,
that would be tight! Like to see it when they r done though.
Gir,
just go through the proceedure and wait longer than the time it says.
then do it 4times like it states and it should be ready. Though a tunner of some sort would be good so you can tune it up, or some one could.
Still waiting on the CAI from them?

yea I e-mailed a guy from pfyc.com and he said some cars only take 2 and that the description doesnt apply to all....
New problem though, I took it to the stealership for the CASE learn this morning and at first the tech guy didnt know wtf I wanted to do... so I let em read the sheet that came with my PCM ... basically he had me go talk with a guy out in their shop of what I wanted to do... hes like 'Ok.' ... so they pull it around and I wait for 10-15mins or so... they charged $40 for the service .. assholes =\ better than $75 (what they wanted to charge)
So I do all that ... go out to my car and figured that the rev limit is off... still chokes after 3500rpms :disappoin Didnt know what to think, if it was normal or not.. so I started to drive off and just came home.
On the way I noticed the skip shifts in place but I am still I think... short shifting? dunno.... I feel some power but I am not totally sure if they did the CASE learn correctly.
Heh, and XI get this... when they tried to pull up the VIN# thru the computer it at first came up as a Jaguar! .. I gave them my insurance with the VIN# and it came up but in the computer as a Grand Prix =o wtf? lol

Sounds like those guys at the Stealership didnt know how to Do the relearn...... They will need to use the computer to change the rpms, that is if the caserelearn was done right.
Kinda strange, it(pcm) should be set at 5500rpm and all the other setting, I'd think, would be at least set at the stock SE settings.
See they probly dont even know how to change the setting anyways, idiots!
I guess the relearn would hav to hav worked, it runs and drives, so I bet you just need to PCM tuned, they might not hav evn dont anytihng to your car, just looked at it(scratching thiers heads) waited a while and charged you $40.
Also Are you 10000% sure you gav PFYC the right vin# plus model info??
If not that could be why the car came up as a Jaguar or the GP....... I'll get back with you on this!

CASE learn done again... this time I sat and watched them do it ... basically everything they guy told me was GM standard ... my rev limit is still 3500-ish but now my shifts have cleared up and its not putting so much into 2nd gear...
Its very odd to hear my car's fans spinning after the car is shut-off lol
Umm... basically it didnt want to be set at 5800-6000rpms *scratches head* ... the programming is still there ... trans line pressure, shift skips, fan turn on after 180* ...
But I am guessing that my trans is going to go eventually soon =( .. or 2nd gear at least heh.... might of not been enough by just adding the royal purple....
To all future GA owners, dont go from a stop and/or race from a stop in ur GA and burn up 1st/2nd gear ... unless u got mula :2cents: $$$ :naughty:

I dont think you cooked the trans.
You need that AutoTap DHP tuner at PFYC to tune the pcm. the only other way is with another program like the DHP tuner, on a PC.
Fan coming on at 180 is a good thing, and running when the cars off is too. All are supposed to run evn after shut off when the temps are 230deg and up.
