I don't quite understand how the stuff works either, but it does work. All i cna say is that it goes on clear and dries black, and pretty hard to i must say. It doesn't chip easily, and it's a bitch to sand off later but it works :grinyes:! Now i wouldn't use it to restore a ride, but to stop the rust from progressing yeah i would. As far as the toyota goes, I don't really care that much about the car, as long as there aren't holes inthe doors the size of golf balls, so someone else can buy it, it's all good to me!

true thier!
As to stop it , it would be ok as long as its sandable.
I hav used the rustolem stuff on non auto related parts.

I need to get out and see some car shows myslef :shakehead
I like to see whats new and cutting edge (ok maybe the chics too)
On another topic,
I was watching TV last night and saw this Prestone comercial.
It starts out with a guy at a drive-thru having a decision to make.
Then going to the parts store for antifreeze, where he's challenged with another decision.
Green or Dex ??
Must hav seen this one 100X ! :uhoh:
Just noticed though, he is driving a metalic green 99' GA GT coupe :bloated:
They only show it for about 10sec at the begining.
Dont see many GA in commercials or movies.

Not sure how old this is but I pulled it from another forum...
Here is the press release from Prestone.com
Prestone® Launches Universal Antifreeze for All Makes, Models, Colors
Retailers, Distributors Benefit from Fewer SKUs and Price Points
DANBURY, Conn., June 10, 2004 – The current antifreeze market has become cluttered and confusing for customers and consumers alike. There are a plethora of formulas, all arriving on shelves in various colors and for different makes and models of cars and light duty trucks. With multiple price points and innumerable SKUs, the antifreeze/coolant market has become nothing short of perplexing and burdensome. Prestone – a Honeywell brand – is responding to this issue with a solution – the NEW Prestone® Extended Life Antifreeze/Coolant, compatible with ANY antifreeze/coolant used in ANY make or model automobile or light duty truck on the road today.
The new formula is compatible with ALL types of antifreeze/coolant on store shelves – including conventional silicated technology, organic acid technology and hybrid technology coolants. The new Prestone Extended Life Antifreeze/Coolant has a patented carboxylate technology that carries a traditional colored liquid contained in the recognized Prestone yellow bottle. It can be added to any antifreeze/coolant that is currently in any domestic or foreign car or light duty truck’s system – regardless of its color – and when added to any extended life coolant will provide extended life properties up to five years or 150,000 miles.*1
“Customers were becoming overwhelmed by the numerous varieties of antifreeze/coolant they were carrying in order to meet consumer coolant needs, which led to higher inventory costs and lower returns on their investments,” said John King, Prestone Product Manager. “The new Prestone Extended Life Antifreeze/Coolant allows our customers to have fewer price points, as well as fewer antifreeze SKUs to keep track of on their shelves, in their warehouse and when re-ordering. The formula is easy to understand, and will help bring back motorists that converted to do-it-for-me (DIFM) consumers when the antifreeze/coolant market became crowded and complex. These consumers can now be confident that this universal formula will be compatible with their vehicle when flushing and filling, or just topping off.”
Prestone is also manufacturing a 50/50 mixture of the new Prestone Extended Life Antifreeze/Coolant, which is strictly intended for topping off. It features the precise factory-fill blend used by most major auto manufacturers – 50 percent antifreeze concentrate for temperature and corrosion protection, and 50 percent de-mineralized water for vital heat transfer. Like the fully concentrated formula, this product can be added to any vehicle’s cooling system, and will mix with all varieties of formulas.
“The Prestone brand is giving peace of mind to both customers and consumers,” added King. “With our new universal formula, customers know how to advise consumers on what to use for their cooling system needs. All they need to remember is to trust the yellow bottle – the new Prestone Extended Life Antifreeze/Coolant.”
Retailers interested in learning more about the new Prestone® Extended Life Antifreeze/Coolant should contact their local sales representative or call (800) 890-2075. Products can also be ordered online at www.honeywellauto.com – the business-to-business web site established by Honeywell Consumer Products Group for placing and tracking orders.
Headquartered in Danbury, Conn., Prestone is a unit of Honeywell Consumer Products Group, a division of Honeywell International Inc. The Honeywell Consumer Products Group manufactures and markets FRAM® oil, air, transmission and fuel filters; Prestone® antifreeze/coolant and car care products; Autolite® spark plugs and ignition wire sets; and Holts® car care products. Information about Prestone® products is available on the Internet at www.prestone.com.
Honeywell International is a $23 billion diversified technology and manufacturing leader, serving customers worldwide with aerospace products and services; control technologies for buildings, homes and industry; automotive products; turbochargers; and specialty materials. Based in Morris Township, N.J., Honeywell’s shares are traded on the New York, London, Chicago and Pacific Stock Exchanges. It is one of the 30 stocks that make up the Dow Jones Industrial Average and is also a component of the Standard & Poor's 500 Index. For additional information, please visit visit www.honeywell.com.
*1 Provides extended life protection up to five years or 150,000 miles when added to any extended life antifreeze/coolant or flushed and filled. Always consult your vehicle manufacturer’s owner’s manual to determine the specific maintenance and change-over intervals recommended for your vehicle.

Honestly I don't know how i tolerated my grand am over this car. It's made me wonder if my car wasn't put together right or something, cuz i could barely keep up with regular G/a's in my g/a but everyone else had seem to get all the same problems ( LIM's, Passlock, abs, etc) which i never got. My G6 is the GTP version... One of these days i'll get more pics so i can post one in my signature. I'm thinking about doing a vid clip on youtube as well, but i would have to get a friend though, since the G/f would probably not want to help.
I saw those cameras on PFYC, not that long ago, they are awesome! I like the way they mount, definetly get some nice driving shots while on the track!

I got to drive an 06 GT mustang :grinno: yeeee... the power is there... but theres something def holding it back, almost sad. I want to think computer related...
My friend who use to drive a VW Jetta, now drives a 98' Cobra... I hate him. He has cat-back of either dual 40 series or 80 .. either or.. its loud as fawk =p .. and it gets up and GOOOESSS... theres no way Id be able to keep up, not a chance lol.
Jetta on the other hand, Id eat it and crap it out :grinno: hehe
Personally, I really wouldnt mind driving a grand prix GXP SC. Mainly because, theres already so much out for it, pulley, PCM, Headers, Intakes... just basic bolt ons ... pretty mandatory =) ... Maybe boosted if that secret is ever let out for the supercharged grand prix's lol
That or, GTO w/ supercharger =) cam, headers + exhaust system MMMMM

It may have been the governer controlling the car, making it hold back on ya. My brother has an 04 Mustang, I have yet to drive, and probably never will either, but for stock it has a nice tone to the exhaust... but he also has the 40th anniversary edition so they may have tweaked it a little. What you need to do is to find a Hertz Rental car place and rent one of the new shelby gt 500's that they are gonna carry. I find that crazy though that they will carry them first for the Shelbys before the dealers are even going to get them. You know that's going to hit the most stolen list of cars!
I would buy a GTO or GP, if my insurance wouldnt be off the charts... but if i could get what i wanted such as the supercharger and any other aftermarket part on the car already put on before i left the dealer. I would even wait for it.. But they don't want to do that. Hell if my G6 had the extras like body kit, supercharged etc. I would have waited... just add it to the bank loan, i wouldn't care! it's all about the sale though, nothing about the customer....

I love the old shelby's, and i really like the one from gone in 60 seconds... Eleanor !!! WOO HOO ! Thats BA !
Even a clone on would be suficiant :grinyes:
Hey I hav seen that accident site, tho your link is :screwy: :D
This has been one long halloween season. :shakehead
Been to like 10 haunted houses, werent to scarry tho, Kids loved them.
I finally figured out what was up with the SE leaking trany fluid... luckily it was just the seal and nothing broke.
But now the GT leaked the whole time it rained, like all last week :angryfire
So today I sealed the lid shut.
Cut and replaced both sides, the part of the hose at the roof drain and down about 3" so I'd hav room to work..
Just spliced the two hoses with a fitting and clamped it all up to be safe.
Should not ever be a problem again(knock on wood)

MMS Dreams =o
With MMS doing trans service on switching out 3800 GTP trans parts w/ the GAGT trans is a big plus... I might consider on saving up after I get my exhaust out of the way and TB...
StageII package + the trans build on a GT Trans would def be sweet... just finding a GT trans with low milage and somehow getting it to MMS to do the GTP switch.... lots of money =p unless the GTP parts can be shipped w/ instructions and I can get a trans shop to do it for meh... Im sure with all this switching and modification, that it'd be good to find a local tuner shop... guess ill be reprogramming the PCM quite a bit...
Plus w/ the future in thought of the over expensive supercharger lol... just more money to be spent..
Put all together what would be the most you can get out of a GA? 300hp-ish??
edit:--
on a side note, I've been thinking if I should get a new car :dunno: the GA is fun as hell to drive, it can always be my project car or hobby to work on... I have 160k-ish miles but its running great?? Guess I had some part in that. It wasnt at all what it is now from when I first bought the car... it drives better than it has ever driven, I've pretty much taken good care of it, cept for the fender and uhh its own problems of which I've had fixed (coolant leak and such).... Its kinda one of those things... of setting a daily driver with the GA along side as the project car... I was looking at some cars at the car show, no wonder they can afford what they got... the parts for the car are cheap and easy to make... almost everything for the grand am is custom if you think about it.... however I do like the factor of 'wtf a grand am?' and it being a sleeper and all that =) ... For now, holdin onto the GA... not sure if I can let go just yet lol....
In my sig, after I do the exhaust and TB... Im not to sure what else there is to do other than supercharge or MMS package :dunno: ... suspension is in there too as well but thats for next spring.. (ha get it, spring =D )
Id also want to try something rear wheel drive and/or manual ... even though its been a while since Ive driven a stick... Im sure it would take much of re-learning..
neat trick I figured out by accident is if you're just cruisin in the GA, you can pop it into neutral and rev and play around... not sure how that would work on taking off the line from a stop... im sure bad =p
I have yet to sit in neutral and pop it into first w/ rev's up... I dont wanna do any harm to the trans

Xi: I thought i did that link correctly... oh well, that's what i get for doing things fast while at work. Which seal was leaking on the Se for the trans inner or outer? I had replaced both on the gt, well i actually had no choice, since it was leaking out faster then i could put back in. Ever since then it would leak on occasion, but could not be rectified. I haven't done any Halloween stuff this year... The most i can say is that me and my G/f brought her nieces pumpkin picking about a week ago. We were going to go through a corn maze as well... BUT got too cold and the little ones were complaining....
Gir: Good luck with all those dreams. I thought big like that too at one point... and never got any further then that. What are you thinking of for a new car if you decide to get one. At least if you go with rear wheel you won't have to worry about much winter crap since i doubt you get much snow down there if any. For you to relearn stick, would take a day at most. I'm constantly "relearning" when i drive the G/f's car every once in awhile.
I don't think the neutral rev, then shift into gear is gonna work the way you want, or at least it never worked for me. When ever i tried it the car would go then sort of grind.... well... my car may not have been a good example.
Enjoy the day

YA Gir,
MMS has got some stuff going on. Havnt checked it out in a while, need to.
I would not rev it to much in N.
Try reving it at a stop, and throw it into gear. It'll just boooggg down and you will hardly even move.
Traction control!!
My other GA's over the years didnt hav that, so I always ripped them to pieces
grfnkl, it was the outer seal, luckily :D
Wasnt leaking that bad, maybe two table spoons everynight. More if I reamed it out all night
With synthetic fluid though, I wasnt going to let it leak to long.
I should hav replaced them last year when I replaced the shafts/cv joints.
I hope all of my Halloweeen festivities are done, well except for tomarrows trick-or-treating :ylsuper:
~~Free candies for meee ! ~~

Hey guys, if you need a pick me up or a promising hope of revenge towards a bad employer, here's a good one for you...:iceslolan
Yesterday it was brought to our attention that the owners van was missing out of the hotel parking lot. He had no clue where it was, plus its been sitting there for about a year now without moving, so noone even paid attention to it anymore including him. Well it was stolen right out of the parking lot. BUT THAT's NOT EVEN THE GOOD PART YET. First off it's an 80 something dodge van, that didn't run anymore( which no one in there right mind would even want), the insurance and registration just ran out on it last week so it had no more insurance or registration. The way that it was stolen was of course by tow truck, but it was dragged across the lot over the neighboring companies grass and towed off that way, it was never brought out through our lot. So there is nothing he can do except file a report! LMAO  We are all laughing here about this!:spit:
Hey XI, when did you hit moderator status? I just noticed that last night. Either way congats! :bigthumb:

thanks for the Idea XI, we do have security camera's none outside though, but there is one that faces the lot where his van was parked. THE downside was that camera wasn't working until the day after the van was probably towed off. plus his van was just out of site of the camera I already checked the footage. oh well that would have been awesome!
On a side note, i found out the dealer sold my G/a 2 days after i traded it in... so they probably had a buyer for it before i even brought it in! BASTARDS, but I'm the one having the last laugh!!! muahahahhahahahahah :evillol:

Yes GA's are quick sellers usually.
Most everyone I talk to says they like the way they look & drive, they just dont like all the nightmare stories people pass around about things that go wrong, continuesly.

I had this wierd thing happen today in the SE. I havnt really driven it in a couple weeks, but today I was sitting waiting to pull out onto the road and my speedo just maxed out to 120 and then just droped to 0 and worked fine after that.....
Luckily I do hav another cluster, I just hope this isnt going to be another problem that starts to reap on the GA's, since it is on the early 90's models. :shakehead

whats nice about AF forums is I dont really have to worry about local PD reading them... the other forums I visit locally sometimes get ratted out due to cops reading the forum, go figure:shakehead
I hope it doesnt rain.... saturday I gotta take apart the front passenger door to get to the window motor assembly, tonight I spent most of my afternoon at the muffler shop waiting for just 3 welds on the exhaust... finally got that straightened out... they just melted some metal as a filler and solved the problem, no more raspy sound.. but damn its way louder when I rev it in park...
no more am I doing that 'trick' I found about being in neutral... its kinda eff'd w/ the trans so sometimes when im coming out of park or reverse I gotta wait for it to actually catch grrr kinda pissed but no biggie... its not like going into drive is that important... er well unless I wanna go forward lol

One day  I'll take them apart, I need to fix the door coverings by the windows. Its all peeling up and looks like Cahcah! Need to find some green to match the outside and just recover them all..... One day
have a good weekend everyone!

Yeah this weather sucks.... 40... 70....50....70....30....60.....40. I feel like the weather is TRYING to get me sick. Anyways, today on my free day off, with it pouring rain outside i was out and about on the internet... and i stumbled across Another ponitac Line up (http://www.gm.com.mx/content_data/LAAM/MX/es/GMMGM/showroom/pontiac/index.html)! including the Pontiac G2 and G3! The only problem is it's in spanish, so if you read speak or understand spanish you'll have NO problems... but for everyone else.. your a little SOL right now.
To me the g2 looks like a wind-up toy, the G3 looks like a Nissan Sentra and a Chevy Malibu, mated.
Enjoy what's left of your day!

Grabbed this info from a blog review...

GM sells a version of the Daewoo Matiz in Mexico as a Pontiac. The G2 Matiz.
It's kind of funny and cute to see the Pontiac badge on such a small car...
http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/6749/matiz25ga.jpg
Less cute ( and not funny at all...) are the result from crash tests in Europe.
Over there the same car is known as the Chevrolet Matiz.
Out of 15 cars recently tested, the Matiz got the worse score. Even compared with other small cars.
Officials claim a "small chance of survival" in a moderate speed crash (!!!)

Though General Motors has promised to end the exercise of badge engineering in the U.S., our kin over at Autoblog Spanish have found proof the practice is alive and well in Mexico. Meet the Pontiac G3, what is essentially the 2007 Chevy Aveo that will be sold in the U.S. later this year. The Aveo is itself a clone of the Daewoo Gentra.
Don’t get us wrong, we’re not knocking the General for selling a version of the Aveo/Gentra in Mexico under the guise of Pontiac. Just as long as Pontiac dealers in the U.S. don’t start demanding another small car in addition to the Cobalt-based G5 sold in Canada they’re already clamoring for.

My own opinion... uhmm.. wtf? .. G3 I can see being reasonable but the G2? lol I want one just to mess it up

yea tsk tsk I think... but there is a moderate demand these days for better gas milage cars, smaller and whatever... I keep hearing locally how people are getting rid of trucks that they just use for 'daily driving' and getting smaller trucks like chevy S10 or w/e else smaller economic cars

I do understand the need for better fuel economy cars, I'm kicking myself in the ass with this G6 right now.... since gas mileage is no where near teh G/a's BUT still no complaints! LOL! Those little tiny cars like the G2 will not make it hear anytime soon, you'll only see those in big citys in other country's. The G3 which is suposed to be like the Aveo ( to me it looks a little like a smaller malibu) Could potentially do well here, but people will buy the foreign over the american for such a small car, for safety alone. Not to down grade GM on this but they really don't make small cars that well. THey cut every corner, so a tiny fender bender and you have 6000 dollars worth of damage. ALTHOUGH the Scions really died off didn't they?! If you guys every serach on ebay for Salvage cars, you'll see a tons of Scions with such minimal damage... you can help but laugh!
On a side off topic from the off topic,I just went to eat my taylor ham sandwich here, and the chees stuck to the paper wrap around it... I just hate that!!! HEY a New smiley!!!
enjoy the day!

I've just never shopped for a car based on MPG.
Since I'm quite tall I need room, so those tiny gas mizzers(haha) never came into the picture.
Though that is why my daily drivers not a V8, because of mpg and insurance costs.
Hell mexico was making VW bugs till just a couple years ago, the RWD ones.
Eveyone needs to STOP buying new cars till the MPG is 50 or more.
You cant tell me they cant do it with gearing and stuff.
Well you can tell me, though I dont bekeive it. :grinno:

Hate to tell you I told you so, but I knew it would straighten out in a few days.
My SE always blows the PCV vavle out ,
or in the back for the O2 sensors.
Runs like crap for a day or two till the system figures out whats going wrong.
Probly ran a little rich on fuel for those days it was messing up. Your MPG drop during that time ?

1200th post!!!
lol
wasnt really payin attention but yea I think so... (the MPG drop)
now its just running smoothly, great when its cold, skip shifts and passes cars w/ ease :grinyes:
--
also, in my soon list in my sig... I think that'd be about it to finish off the grand am and save for other things... building it up is fun and all...but costly ... building up a computer is much cheaper (I need to do so) lol mine is running on old generation agp/athlon xp 32bit :) .. need some PCI-E w/ dual coreness hehe
but after everything there I think I can be happy with the GA with out running into major problems with lets say the trans...
might just get the 65mm from v6performance :dunno: much cheaper than rsm... hope it fits
--edit
another question, think it'd be necessary to goto a pro to get the pcm tuned after done and done?
and somewhere in my soon list is suspension parts :grinno:
