In job training our trainer is just horrible at teaching us anything really... some get it, others scratch their heads :dunno: .. today I was to tired to even think of ANY answers... staying up 1hr more killed me.

but it shouldnt be too bad... My work hours are going to be 5am-1pm: $10/hr :grinno: basically dead till 8-ish and it'll start up really around 9-10am. :p

sat/mondays not bad to hav off.

Just hav to cut things short saturday night :)

Hey I added some more mesh to my front grill, just the ram air vents.
Hot glued the stuff to the back of the trim piece.
RamAir 1 (http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c242/xeroinfinity/AUTOMOBILES/ramair2.jpg)

RamAir 2 (http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c242/xeroinfinity/AUTOMOBILES/ramair3.jpg)
Attached the mesh with HOT glue.
On car (http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c242/xeroinfinity/AUTOMOBILES/ramairgrll1.jpg)
To attach the inserts, I had to remove the top radiator cover
so I could get to the back of the grills to attach them with thier push pins.

Had to do something, bugs were building up in the engine bay.
Guess they flew up and through the duct work for the Ram Air, made a mess :grinyes:

I'm droppin in to see what i've missed for the past couple of weeks... DAMN i've been so out of the loop. Work has kept me busy now.... plus trying to keep everyone happy with the job.

I see you got a new job gir... I'm sure it beat's blockbuster.

Xi, I like what you are doing with the vents. I had that whole set up done with the grill work in all the openings and non openings but after one of my many accidents and they had to replace the bumper i never got around to putting everything back in the way i liked it. Plus i couldn't stand how after i painted it it wouldn't hold up to the weather and the road conditions. but i do like how you are connecting them, much better then the macguyver job i did. LOL back to work i go

later

Glad to here from you grfnkl !
Thought you might hav been busy working,
and roasting with friends in this heat.

I mainly hav the messgrill for keeping bugs/debrie out of the radiator. and it looks nice.(except when its full of bugs)

ITs just cheap aluminum gutter gaurd, though it is razor ass sharp and cut my hands to shreads, I'll remember GLOVES next time :D

grfnkl

I've been working pretty hard... well i should rephrase that, I've been keeping myself looking like I'm working really hard. :grinyes: I have stopped in and checked things out but haven't posted during some "downtime" at work.

I did the same thing for the grill work, to keep the a/c condenser from getting all beat up from the bugs and rocks and road crap that since the metal is extremely soft. I do have to agree that gutter guard crap can be pretty sharp ( i used it too) Be glad you aren't working with chicken wire, now that stuff can be brutal.

grfnkl, I dont work any harder than I hav too either :)
thats what being the boss is about, though my employies would dis-gree

Chicken wire ??? that would not look pretty on my GA :nono: I guess thats why they make gloves :uhoh:

Since I quit smoking back in Feb, I've had to keep my hands and mind occupied, so I dont pick them up again.
I've saved hundreds of $$ already, and probly inproved my health too.

So Gir hows the phone champaign going at the new job?
Any interesting calls? (that you can talk about)

Gir-_-
08-11-2006, 03:34 PM
some old woman called because she was missing a dollar on her monthly benefit... normally got 60 but it changed to 59 :dunno: guess its important to some people...

other than that, kinda putting a hault on doing anything more to the GA, now is the time to save up $$$ for other things.... for my bday, I mainly just got money ... and lucky me I found a new video card for my PC... wanna play some of the newer end games.... too bad tho.... my power supply is to weak to handle it lol... and right there on the box it says ... 500w min ..... mines 350 :dunno: oh well... gotta save up for that too.... now it'd be some real shit if my mobo didnt support the card all together ... then Id probly have to run over some ppl in the GA... get that anger out.

xeroinfinity
08-11-2006, 05:46 PM
old people, how fun. they are almost as entertaining as children :)
at least you dont hav to meet these folks one on one,
they might be angry You took thier dollar away.

I dont blame you on the MODs, they do get costly and unless its a turbo, its just a waste

What kind of video card and whats the mother board?
I'm pretty good at this stuff too :)
You can buy a 500/w power suply for cheap online.
Mother boards are damn cheap online tooo.

I usually check http://www.pricewatch.com/ (http://www.pricewatch.com/) for pricing and places to buy from.

Gir-_-

yea pricewatch is nice

umm ... vid card is a xfx geforce 6800xt agp

mobo: DFI AD77 Infinity Pro (I think,... Very out dated though)

I wouldnt change my cpu... love this thing ... AMD AthlonXP 2800 (Barton Core) .. and rigged up on that is a huge ThermalTake Volcano 12 .... 3 wurrly blades of death lol .. loud as fuck too

also ...

That mobo (KT400) should hav an AGP slot, thats why it wouldnt work probly if you didnt hav an AGP.
Though, I hav heard that some of the PCI video cards are pretty BA.
I think one of my kids CPUs has a Geforce 5500 pci its a nice card, though I personaly prefer the ATI(which I use) series. they kick ass!

That video hav sound? Lol Dont here anything.....
That Flowmaster 80 series is whats on the SE now, sounds bad ass. I hav the exact part # somewhere, thiers serveral different mufflers from FM. #42583 $140 isnt bad for one of these, the stock mufflers cost $280-380 from GMpartsDirect.
Going to get the GT done soon.

yea it has a agp slot, not what im worried about though... Just the BIOS on the board. When I first got it I had to take it into a comp shop and have them flash the BIOS so that it'd work with my CPU (highest it can handle) and my video card at the time (Gf4 Ti 4200 AGP)

I already had a huge message typed up but I got a call and AF logged me out  grr (at werk..)

Would you say the FM80 is decently loud? Even in some warm weather with the CAI?... I've noticed when Im going to work at 4:30 in the morning that Im roaring down the highway lol with just my glasspak...

but, Brakes first :nono: then look into a exhaust job....

I noticed yesterday coming home with my gf's mom from the pool that my pipe is just saggin down again :disappoin which means.... lifting the GA up and crawling under there... jacking the muffler up and loosening the bolts and re-tighten everything =p .. sorta a pain to do

wondering if I should stick with OE size piping or go bigger... To go bigger would mean getting a new flange if possible because that thing is rusted to crap .. not even a bolt there anymore... mound of rust all rusted together.... it just looks like a flange thats all  But, it would be easier and less costly to stick with OE ... just after the flange ... see if they can weld a straight pipe where my glasspack is sitting at and see what they can do with a FM80 in the back

Since you Bois was already flashed and you previously had the same brand of V.card, you should not hav much trouble.

Ya I hav done that , had a couple paragraphs typed out and something crashes either at my end or here :shakehead

Yea the Flowmaster 80 series sounds great ! I think the only thing that would sound better is the Borla, but whos going to waste $800 on that exhaust

Saggin exhaust sucks :disappoin Since you hav a j.o.b. maybe you can get a custom cat-back with one of those FM80s in back, that sounds really good at 4:30am

Around here you can get a cat back from some local shops for around $200-250, I'd think in TX it would be a little more :dunno: Then you would get a new flange, and it shouldnt sagg as bad with the pipe welded :bigthumb:

You still havnt fixed those brakes  probly better get those fixed first :grinyes: the longer you wait, the possibility that you'll hav to replace more stuff increases.

Gir-_-
08-13-2006, 10:47 AM
yea brakes are coming first after my next paycheck.... should be more than enough to fix them...

so with the FM80 would you say stick with 2.50 in/out? .. they have a 3/2.5 in/out but the GA I wouldnt think puts out that much.... wouldnt the 2.5 slip over the stock sized exhaust piping?

xeroinfinity
08-13-2006, 03:28 PM
Hey Gir!
Yes brakes first !

The 2.5"in/Dual 2.5" out (#42583) would be fine. The only real reason you would want 3" in is if you hav headers and a high flow 3' CatConvrt.
And the 3"ers are more expensive and so would the pipe. Kinda over kill for a GA, unless you run it at the track .

:grinyes: with the muffler side ways, and duals out, you will feel and here a big differance in the exhaust and in the seat of your pants :smokin:

But when you're not WOT its pretty mello on the sound. I'm sure you current exhaust sounds better than stock :gay:

:) dont forget the brakes

xeroinfinity
08-13-2006, 10:09 PM
Thats no big deal Gir.
Your header would be 3" so if you did it like I did on the SE, I just put on the high flow cat that had a 3" inlet and a 2.5 out--->
Works Great :D its actually loud enough I could be ticketed if I were in the wrong place at the right time, doing the wrong time(s) :sly:

3" exhaust is over kill on a V6, might evn loose some good back pressure :grinyes:
If you had a LT1 or a LS1 then 3' would be perfecto',
but I dont think niether would fit, comfortably anyway :)

Gir, brakes are a vary good thing! I just had mine checked do to the annoying shaking i get when slowing from higher speeds... everything checked OK, But i know that my rotors have to be warped.

Wanna hear something bad for brakes, the hotel I work at has a courtesy van, well back in jan. when it was serviced last ( only 8 months ago) we were told that the rear brakes were at 30%. WELL last week when we needed the van the most, it had a lovely noise when you hit the brakes as it literally grinded to a stop. We were down to grinding rotors! HAHAH Now our problem is that we have cheap ass owners that won't pay for things here... including payroll some weeks... so peoples safety over 30 cents worth of interest... that's the dilema in their minds. :screwy: Well it's 5:30 I'm gonna go sit in traffic now! YAY!!!!

enjoy the rest of your day guys

Sometimes brakes can wear fast.

Especially if youre a cheap @ss , like the owners of that Hotel.

Spend a little more and you'll almost always save time and money down the road, guess some people hav no clue :shakehead

man... :uhoh: so much traffic all thru-out my city yesterday morning. Was my day off and i woke up pretty early and also got a call from the gf to give her a ride to school, no biggie .. cept for me and every1 else in town doing the same thing all going to the same location :shakehead

cant wait till next paycheck .. NEW MOFO BRAKES :banghead:
My mother keeps trying to tell me that her bf knows how to do brake service :screwy: WoooOOO? ... I know whats wrong already with the brakes, and so I asked. Can he machine the rotors and drums himself ? with like his teeth or something? The service itself should be around 200-350$ -ish for machined rotors/drums, new pads/shoes, and the drum spring replaced and/or fixed.... what I might do is just go ahead and do the power slot rotors.. and maybe just buy new drum discs rather than machine them... they're pretty used/warped/rusted and crapped all over on =p

think power slot + just reg. new drum disc would work fine?

Also, I hope I dont have a hydralic bind up like I did :banghead: ... it was to where it'd squeek w/o me pressing the brake down .. totally opposite.

Haha ! Probly wont be to long and kids will go all year round up here. Well they'll get July off  I dont like that because it'll cost Me more money :banghead:
Spent over $500 just on school supplys for the 4 youngest , my older two will start back to college soon.

Morning traffic  it always sucks when people are going and coming from work :bloated: even in the evening it congested.

Drums(the rear) and rotors can be turned with a machine that setup for that purpose, dont know about any one doing it with thier teeth though :eek7:
Your front brakes do most of the stopping. Those power slot rotors are great, but cost about $200(with shipping) for the front pair. They will outlast any factory/stock rotors.

So that would not hurt to get the back drums machined if they can be. The back doesnt usually wear like the front so you might get lucky :)

oh that binding.
They just hav to hav the pins and sliders greased well and the clips on the top of the calipers need to be in good shape.

Dont work to hard thier Gir :bigthumb:

I'm expecting to put brakes on my car probably by next month, The last time were done was over a year ago and about 40,000 miles ago i think, so i'm due... The 200-300 that you are looking to spend Gir is about right, that's about what i "paid" last time. that was for both front and rear... ( done on own not through a stealership or mechanic). I would though like to see someone machine a set of rotors with their teeth, that would be a sight to see, plus i would like to see the accuracy.

Xi: your kids already started back to school! DAMN school starts early out by you. my area doesnt start until about sept 6th.

xeroinfinity
08-16-2006, 04:50 PM
You think those prices are really slashed? :nono:

Think again!

Next time you visit your local walmart, look for falling prices ;)
Then move the tag over and check the prices under that tag, the earlier price, its sometimes/usually much lower than thier so call "falling prices" sales !.
This is true with ALL I hav been in.
Here in Indiana, and other states too.

Its all about getting you into the store,
with a chance you'll by what you need,
and then some other stuff too

Gir-_-
08-16-2006, 10:23 PM
yea they work around demand =p and TRY to get some mo moneh lol ... but in reality they really are slashing prices, thus Sam's Club =p ... everything is cheaper there because its just a warehouse in bulk... and wal*mart owns their own everything .. transportation and everything ... it costs $$$ to deliver to all the diff stores but they do it themselves and it costs way less... .. learned alot of this in economics & it actually made sense lol

xeroinfinity
08-16-2006, 10:37 PM
YA Gir They stick all thier distribution centers in low income comunities so they can pay lower wages and give less in benifits .

Every day I see at least 3 walmart(scams) semi's cruising down the road. And thier trailers are 53 or 56 ft long, I believe the biggest. Surprised if they dont own some trains and planes :grinyes:

don't forget many of the items they carry aren't top quality or they are seconds thus the lower prices besides transportation, bulk buying, etc. The ones by me can't even keep up with the price changes so sometimes you can beat them at their own game! plus ours is located between a ton of other stores, so there is a lot of competition. What amazes me is though is when a company will use an economic area to save money, and get to open up, while others that can bring money in and revive an area get shut out by the people. The logic behind this doesn't make sense to me. :disappoin

heat spell is over... I guess

took some cheap advil generic brand stuff for 'pain reliever/fever reducer' just what I needed.... and it basically broke my fever last night while I was sleepin, woke up once in cold sweat and I guess thats when it went away

decided to come to work and try my luck *here now* and took 1 advil this morning just in case....

the whole slow-motion thing was pretty cool though... I was going probly like 50-55ish in a 45 *not meaning to* and my car felt weird ... was so dizzy.. but think of like I guess the matrix sorta.. everything I KNOW is FAST but its like to me.. woooosh.... woooooooshhhh ... noticed everything

 wooooosshhhhh
I've got two words for ya, Bird Flu :D

I have been thier once or twice myself,
but its been 15+ years since I've had a fever like that.

Think it was cause I ripped some ticks off myself.
Didnt hav lime desease, but my DR said thiers other things one can get from those nasty little ticks :eek7:

Glad you are feeling better, it sucks being ill :grinyes:

it would of been $300-ish for rotors/pads =p .. really I just wanted it taken care of asap... and getting slots/ceramics DID come to mind...

looks like tho I might have a secret issue tho... the inside driver side pad was what was grinding .. metal on metal... and basically all on the driver side .. hmm ok ... looked at the passenger, still good amount of pad left?....... sum'd it up in my head but omar was sayin how that they were pretty plain uneven on wear...

basically, the driver side is taking more than passenger, something to do with the brake line, not that the passenger is clogged, omar pushed the caliper back in and it bled brake fluid else where.. so it IS being used but not as much as the driver's side.......... how much u think this job would be to get the 2 brake lines replaced?.... right when it comes out of the metal tubing into the loose tubing that goes into the caliper...

Yes the pads will wear uneven if the slide pins arent greased properly.

 I just read in a GM service manual that the brake fluid should be changed every 30k miles :eek7:

Guess it doesnt hurt, I usually bleed the crap outta mine, so the new fluid works its way down.

Riding the brakes wears them fast too.
My better half used to do that :banghead:
She doesnt drive the GAs any more,
now that she wentGreen (http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c242/xeroinfinity/AUTOMOBILES/05prius_1.jpg) and all :D

yea, not sure if they were greased properly, but therrr was alot of gunk, ... black brake dust+gunk... either thats still the problem or I think the brake line isnt getting enough to that caliper... I noticed driving that it feels the same (pressing the brake down way further than any other normal car... its like when I first got the car, now I just have pads to go thru)

Dont breath that stuff !! :grinno:
Thats black death on those pads/rims.
That shit has asbestos in it ,
and is very leathal to your lungs :grinyes:

If the pedals all squishy and has alot of travle then they need bled better. I'd jsut wait till you got you new brakes installed, or did you already?
If you already had them done, go back and make'm bleed them better.
Hopfully your calipers arent bad, that does happen though.
My SE has had new calipers, thats when I painted the them, since the new ones were clean .

Brake lines dont get clogged very easy.
Thiers about 1200 PSI at the calipers(or should be).

Soooooo....... $441.41 - Final total of 4 new tires. BFG.

The other day on my way home the rear passenger tire decided to erode from the inside out and let my rim cut into it, it just was to hot that day I guess :dunno: for the tire to hold up, just kinda fell apart... I almost lost it and went into another car but thats only b/c they were trying to pass me going like 80mph... I stopped asap and pulled over to this little tiny median I had... cars zooming by right next to me, about 2ft on the highway and then some room on the other side to where it was the access ramp to cars speeding up getting on the highway..... just kinda sat there like.... ehhhh k. Made some calls and waited, went ahead and jacked the car up with my tiny jack lol and took off the busted tire/rim... Rim was perfectly ok btw, not a scratch.....

Didnt have my dounut tire =p was laying in the garage, made another call to my gf and she left her friend's church and went and helped me out :D and brought the dounut... only rode with it for a day to work and got new tires yesterday afternoon...

Damn Gir when it rains it pours :shakehead

Glad to hear you and your car is OK!
Flats on the highway suck!
its no place to change a tire thats for sure :grinno:

Thats not a bad price for a set of four tires. :D

I remember one time I passed some one doing 80mph,
and I had a blow out :yikes:
Finished the pass, pulled over changed the tire, then caught up with them and passed the same car again

I dont carry my spare/jack either, keeps the wieght down.
I was trying to squeeze a full size tire and rim in the trunks spare hole but no way would it fit :angryfire

Have a great day everyone !

I thought i already posted... Hmmm, i guess it didn't go through. Anyways, Gir you got a great price on BFG's. I paid over $600 for a set of 4 for mine 2 yers ago. This is all with these different taxes and other crap that is tacked on to the sale of a tire. On top of that i got a "good deal" Well now it doesn't feel like it. Well at least you made it through your flat ok, without incident.

Well it's FRIDAY!!!!! FINALLY! FRIDAY this week has taken WAY to long!!! Now if we weren't getting the remains of that stupid tropical storm, the weekend would be nice... but NOOO can't do that now can we! Don't mind me, I'm tired and really can't wait to go home.... around 5:00 ish in traffic and pouring rain......:crying:

Roads washing out may be a big problem for us. The last 2 months we really haven't had any rain so everything has been very dry. With all this rain now that we've been getting for the past few days and more expected, there has been alot of dirt washing into the roads. and the roads are washing out in places as well. My car has a lovely shade of light brown down the sides and back from the dry dirt then the mud then everything dried out for a day so more dry dusty dirt. It looks like it hasn't been washed in years when it's only been like 2 or 3 weeks max :disappoin. well i gotta jet now and pick up a guest in MY CAR. URGH the things i do. :shakehead

We got hit pretty hard with the rain and winds, but not as bad as some areas. a lot of trees fell in the area, and some minor flooding. this wasn't as bad as other storms. I think we had 1 week of summer and that was it! after that one week it got cool. thankfully we had nice weather for Labor Day, I even made it to the beach!!!..... only to end with crappy weather today! WOhoo!

Gir, lucky you, you got away for vacation with your g/f.... I'm still trying to get away for a weekend with my girl ... :naughty:

Hope you guys had a safe and nice labor day.

My weekend was great !

It was suposed to rain, but ended up being in the 70's, kinda chilli in the shade.
Went by way to fast tho..
... raced a couple races in that go kart race saturday, didnt take any first places but it was a good rush :D

Ended up breaking my rear axle because some JA kept bumping me :angryfire good thing their were police there  (actually it was going bad anyways, he just finished it off.:shakehead)

Got to see some relatives sunday that I hadnt seen in several years. My cousin is in the Navy/Marines, been training in INDY for nonlethal weapons. Guess he is going to Kosovo for riot/crowd control..
Guess Its pretty ugly over there these days, not some place I'd like to be at all ! :grinno:

You guys hav a great week, enjoy the cool weather !

I just enjoyed the fact of having 3 days off cuz i can not because i had to ask! Well it definetly sounded like you had a good weekend. Go kart races can be sooo much fun. There isnt too many place around me that have them, i guess to many potential lawsuits.

Overseas is pretty bad, hope the best for your cousin if he goes over there. I personally wouldnt go anywhere past europe like italy germany etc. after that my next stop probably would be either australia or alaska. or some of those little tropical islands.
