hey guys, I got a letter from the HOA about oil in my parking space. They're reccomending kitty litter and Mineral Spirits. would the Acetone that I have laying around be considered a Mineral Spirit? Since it can be used as a paint thinner, right?

I'd love to be going all over the store. Unfortanately, Its a long process to get into other departments (union b.s.) but it pays decently for only having a H.S. education.

lol yeh. my other friend were know as the company workhorses cuz they dont like the term company bitch lol. We dont got no union there, they made us sign a paper awhile back we wouldnt go for one. my buddy works in a fuel station at a different store. says its easy since most everyone uses their credit cards at the pump. drive offs aren't a big deal since its pre-pay (probably like every filling station in the USA) but theres always someone who forgets to take the nossle out of their car before driving off.

I'm disgruntled, but not crazy (i hope). I'm not going to go around the store off-ing people. most of them have become good friends, after 4 years. Shawn can take care of my co-workers and I'll take care of his co-workers. Just kidding of course. I can never imagine ending someone elses life. This reminds me of a few years ago, this dude over here in Aurora, Colo did that at Chuck E Cheeses. Its such a crappy job, i'd walk out before it got that bad. and of course all those U.S. Postal employees going postal.

A little side note, after trying for 1 year to get back onto days, Checking, its finally happening 1st week of March. Night Crew has been too much for me. My boy Duane is also going into checking for the same reasons as me.
1. Too much senority,
Dale: 35 years
Mark: 30+ years
Jeff: (stinking mother fucker)29 years
Duane: 8 years
Me: 4 years
Al: 37years (frozen foods, but I work his department while he's got vacation
Colene: almost 29 years (General Merchandise/NON-foods) all of these people have 5 weeks each of vacation. well except me and Duane, he's got 3 weeks, and I've got 2 weeks.
Colene and Al take thiers together (married) but its still a lot of Vac Time.

2. Put together Mark and Jeff have half of a functioning brain. But somehow they are running the crew, ordering. and driving everyone crazy. These guys have strange habits/quirks that just make you go "HMMMMMM, are you retarded?" i better stop now, I just got my confrimation that I'm going to hell, Satan is picking me up personally, is that bad? Now thats First Class!

You want stress? Get out of the store and work in distribution! I just pulled a 17 hour shift!!! I've been thinking of getting back to the stores - there's just no real money in it though...

You work in safeway huh? Sorry to here that. Did you see this?

It's funny how they don't want Giant to be union but they owen Tops here in NY and they are union. I know this is going to ruffle some feathers with some - just take it with a grain of salt. My observation of the union environment is that it tends to bread laziness. It pays the people that have been there the longest with the least amount or the easiest work. Instead of the "harder I work" it becomes "how long can I survive". No rewards for the guy who really cares and goes the extra mile.
Just a small peek into what I see...

17 hours? Man, I could do that with my eyes closed. Actually I have....

I've gone over 48 hours before. Sometimes, I've worked 18 - 20 hours a day for several weeks at a time.

I average 14 hours per shift but last night sucked. The long hours don't bother me it the fact that I have to be on high alert for the entire time.

My observations have been that unions appear much like pimps, and the workers are their "hoes".

Unions have also lead to the weakened state of the Airlines and Auto makers.

Whenever I see people picketing, I always take the time to slow down and yell "Get back to work, LAZY ASS!"

02-14-2006, 11:36 PM
wow.Yeh i know about that Topps thing.Well here is how our manager system is here lol. The head honcho of the store sits in an office all day pushes a u boat out and parks it and gets 30 an hour. the next one in line works his ass off and gets 24. then the other 2 do the same just about and get 20 per. Lol im getting 7.25 and practically running the produce department lol

This is wierd. My dad just replaced the bulbs in his 2001 blazer the other day and even though i thought the housings werent adjustable in the sense that can but by just replacing the bulb they shouldnt have to be.They all face up in the air. I know awhile back it was brought up in quite the heated arguement w LT and someone else that they can.Anyone know where its at?

Ok question 3 cuz this site plus me and search feature are not working. There was a seller on ebay from Texas that i think Rlith recommended to buy the clear headlights from they were around 25 a pair 15 shipping.i had them in my ebay but can not find no more and have been searching for 20 minutes lol and to no avail.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10976595/?page=2 yeah. we were all laughing about it in the break room. We were wondering where the store that they were focusing on during the TV brodcast. Yeah that makes me proud to have that big "S" on my apron. :shakehead:shakehead
I think it depends on the Manager running the store the most. If he or she puts their foot down, saying THIS WILL BE DONE, it'll eventually get done, even if you have to fire a entire department.

I've been thinking of getting back to the stores - there's just no real money in it though... yeah. after 2.5 years of being there I was already topped out in pay. Only thing I get is cost of living every few years. I've heard that our warehouses (bread, soda, milk, grocery, frozen, meat, variety) all suck to work in. I am looking for a different job, but to make what i'm making now, is hard to find as a starting wage with only a H.S. diploma.

. Lol im getting 7.25 and practically running the produce department lol shawn, what do you mean? like writing the schedule, ordering product and stuff like that? produce manager makes like $16.50 next guy in charge makes $16.00 (thats what all head clerks or shift supervisors make)

I don't believe any vehicle's lights need re-aiming after just a bulb change. Are you sure they were swung back and latched down correctly?

just make sure you dad doesn't do what my dad tried doing. Well he also works nights, and one night had nowhere to park his car for a "minute" but the GOLL-DARN sidewalk in downtown denver. probably at 2-3am. so he gets home and hands me the ticket saying he found it on my car. This is when I had my Hyundai, and all I saw on the ticket was Hyundai, and "Parked On Sidewalk", didn't bother seeing "DENVER" not "Aurora" or the early AM, so I start swearing grabbing the phone book looking up the APD number ready to let loose. When they start laughing, obviously I was gertting more pissed, and red in the face, and couldn't even turn 1 page at a time. Once he told me it was his ticket, that got me feeling much better. I think he and mom learned not to get me mad. I swear they never saw me so angry in my whole life.

Good luck with whatever you need it with.

The job is going great. The sales are slow but I'm told that it's normal this time of year (I've still only made the 1 sale)

I've been keeping busy re-arranging the lot and making up signs. It's looking way better and we are getting more trafic than normal. Everyone sayes that they are just looking though. (our prices can't be beat so they'll be back)

I've just had to take 2 weeks off already due to a family emergency, and I've been asked to try my best to be back on the fifth. My boss wants to teach me a few things and then leave me there alone for 2 weeks while he's on holidays.
He was planning on closing shop for the trip until I came along.
