96 maxima vs 03 altima 3.5L

I still think the driver has a lot to do with it, if you get an experienced driver in the 6sp Max and an inexperienced driver in the slushstank then the Max will smoke the the stank.

The V8 is hard to beat because of the displacement but it depends again on the type of race and where it is at and how far to the finish point.

If it is wet outside, advantage Max (front wheel drive), if the ground is covered with dirt, the Max again and this is with an average driver. The V8 stang has the advantage on the autoMax on the dry ground in a 1/4 mile race and then again it depends on whether or not he overrevs and spins his wheels, same for the Max.

I've beaten V8 stangs before with my auto and that's probably because I caught them sleeping and they had lots of wheelspin, I have yet to be smoked by a rustank. Smoking refers to at least a couple of car lengths IMO but I think it'll probably edge out a Max in a 1/4 mile race if there's an experience driver in it and a non experienced driver in the Max 6sp or auto.
V6 stanks are too easy, Max's will eat those for BLD, I don't even bother when they pull up next to me, only ones I worry about is the one's with the dual tailpipes trying to look like the V8, I always test those and I always blow them away especially when I realize they're not the V8.

This argument is pretty sad though, that it even takes comparing a so called "sport coupe" especially a V8 to a V6 "Family Car", this goes to show you that it takes something more to beat a Max. You don't even see anyone asking can a Taurus beat a Max, unless it is an SHO, and I smoked one of those when I first got my Max 4 times in a row.

Let's put things in their proper perspective, name calling and letting our emotions take over is counterproductive and it is very elementary school. I know that everyone here is probably an adult and for certain everyone is not immature, let's try and act our age and not our shoe size, leave the name calling for the pre-schoolers and deal with the facts as they present themselves.

Maximus when you are in irvine, we will race, just let me know in advance so we can meet up.

To everyone else, I dont know what kind of cars you race where you are, but down here these are the cars we have. So if you guys think you can beat any of the following, come down to orange county for your racing needs.

I will be in Cali tomorrow evening but unfortunately I'm not driving, I'm flying cause I don't have enough leave time to be able to drive there and back from NC (3 days there and 3 days back) otherwise I'd run down that way just to piss on those slushstanks.

Im sorry, but this is cars, I have beaten 3 Nissan Maximas, and my dad owned one as well as me, both 97's. My point being, I have driven/owned this car, and now I dont, but my new car does beat the older maxima. Thats a fact, while having someone brake torque their launch on an auto 95-99 maxima, and me launching my 5 speed 2.5 altima, I can beat them.

I dont see why you guys are crying, its not like its a bad car to lose to, it has a huge 4 cylinder motor compared to a pussy 3.0 VQ. If you guys are racing the stock 3.5, they are going to hand your ass too you.

I tried racing an auto 95/96 max last night, but he wouldnt go, it was slammed on rims, debaged, clear corners and a big wing. Kid driving, but still wouldnt run, probably thought I had a v6 or something :D

When a car is slammed on the wheels they don't drive all that fast and airbag systems weigh a lot. Most cars set up like that are for show not racing.

if the VQ's pussy why does nissan use the vq35 in 9 of their nissn/infiniti vehicles. they put an inline four in the economy vehicles for peple who can't afford the insurance/ gas of a beastly 6 cylinder.

Not to mention the nissan vq in the maximas and I30-35 has been rated best v-6 in it's class for the last 9 years.

VQ30 is one of the best 6 cylinders to come out of the 90's, period. It's not only about power, it's about smoothness and durability as well. The idea to use molybdenum coated pistons was ingenius. If you had a Maxima, you should know how sweet the engine is.

I know its a great motor, my 300zx with a VG has 155k and runs strong, its not fast, but its not dieing anytime soon

JB, I can't believe that you called the VQ 3.0L a pussy, I know my 3.0L will eat just about any Altima (stock) that is from 0-60 and the 1/4, but calling the VQ 3.0L pussy is just not proper. This engine is so good it's been named to the Ward's Ten Best Engine List 8 years in a row and you don't make that list by being pussy.

The Altima is not all that fast, I know because I've owned 3 of them and furthermore the Altima hadn't reached the league of a Max until they dropped the 3.5 VQ in it. A 2.5 cannot beat a 3.0L with an auto or a stick. I raced an Altima 2.5 S with a stick 3 times last week and I'm auto 3.0L and my Max just $hitted all over him everytime.

It wasn't even close from 0-60 or the 1/4, I'm sorry there's no way an Altima unless it's got the 3.5 VQ can hang with or $hit on a 3.0L VQ Max in any form auto or stick.

I'm just stating the obvious, I raced an Altima 2.5S and I $hit all over that car 3 times, 0-60 and the 1/4 and as far as talking $hit, I've owned 3 Altimas and know for a fact that the Max is a better and faster car.
I don't talk $hit, so all of the unneccessary hostility is a moot point with me. Maybe some of the other fellas you talking bout are just talking but I have personally squashed 2 Altimas (one of them 3 times).

Good luck on your race with a 2k Max, you are gonna need it to win against one in a 2.5 Altima, with a 3.5 Altima you stand a chance and maybe even win by a walk but with the 2.5 Altima, it is just too wimpy to beat a 3.0L Max.

I still want to race, I tried picking on a maxima a few weeks ago, but he wouldnt race, just kept going slower and slower. A year and a half ago I raced the kid and beat him in my maxima, then the prick flipped me off when I tried telling him his clear corner fell out.
