I will say, Good Kill.

But that is a drivers race, both those cars are pretty equal. And the Altima with Intake has no traction his whole first gear, he just spins the tires. I am sure if he could drive/launch better it would be pretty even.

yea gr8t racing videos. very close races. definately depends on the driver. i`m really am starting to like the 3.5 altima. gr8t bang for the buck in my opinion.:D

Yeah its no big deal, just looks cleaner. Nissan should have done this at hte factory.

true nissan should of put the red/clears on from factory!!! along with the clear turn signals in the front bumper. orange yuck:D

I tried clearing my head lights out, but I busted an HID, so no more messing with my head lamps. my car is fine.....a little orange isnt worth the $130 to fix an hid.

Maybe not, all of the videos that I've seen of Altima vs Maxima has ended up with the Altima looking at the taillights of the Max. I've yet to see a video that legitimately counters the facts that the Maxima is faster than the Altima whether it (Altima) has the 3.5 or not.

It was also a Great Kill, because the Altima has the same engine and his car was modded (which still didn't help) they raced 3 times and he stated that he got perfect launches everytime, he admitted that the Maxima is faster and it didn't matter because they switched cars and the Altima still got smoked and dusted.

Thats the only video I have seen, I have some footage of an older Altima handing a 4th gen its ass. Anyhow, depends who is filming the video, an Altimas.net member is running 13.6's with Intake, Mufflers, Y Pipe and a Pulley. So I guess it all depends.

i posted a similar video about 30 pages back and you said THAT was the only one you had seen. between me and bk i think that's 4 times you've an altima get whooped by a maxima.

Well I've got one or 2 saved on my computer of 2 different 3.5 Max's absolutely destroying the 3.5 Altimas, on one of them the passenger in the Altima asked the driver, "did you miss a shift" and the guy said, "No, he just flat out smoked me" btw both had perfect launches and it was over within 30mph.

Besides the Altimas you keep referring to are all modded in some way or the other, the cars I saw race were totally stock (Maximas that is) against modded Altimas and the driver's were equally adept at racing, all had sticks and in some cases they even traded cars to prove that the Max was faster.

Uhh....you dont need a turbo on a KA24 to beat a 5th gen with 255hp. A built Altima can run 14.0s consistantly. You assume and you think your car is god. I cant account for all Altimas, I dont have a V6, if I did I would have plenty of videos of me destroying the 255hp with a 6 speed. But you can safely assume the Maximas in the videos beating those Altimas are faster, but what you cant assume is all Altimas are faster. Many 255hp Max's areant running 14.1's and many Altimas are, and vice versa, it is driver and a perfect launch everytime is bs because I highly gaurentee those guys are not professional drivers.

I never said that they were all professional drivers and it isn't bs that the Max is still a faster car, look at the tq/hp numbers they still favor the Max also couple that with the 6spd tranny and anyone (you don't have to be a mathematical genius) can see where and why the Max still beats an Altima.

It's almost a guarantee that you'll find more Maximas running 14.5 or below, whereas most Altimas are running 14.9 not being biased but go look for yourself and you will see the same.
That is true that there are some freak cars out there, sometimes you can get one of those factory freaks that will run 14 flat everytime in either car and then other times you can get a factory slowpoke that runs 14.8.9's etc.

That factory freak thing is one of those phenomenas that can't be explained.

what was the deal with .org members wanting to sue nissan over? Their maximas were not really rated at higher hp to the wheels then the Altima and they made a big deal over it. Its not that it has more horsepower, its that your not on www.altimas.net. Visit there and people all have high 13's to low 14's posted in their sigs as do maxima drivers. You cant say one of the cars is faster then the other. You would be stating your opinion unless you raced every altima against every Maxima and actually proved it to make it a fact but still, some Altimas are faster and some Maximas are faster.

14.9, I havent seen any 5 speeds running 14.9's, everyone runs about 14.4 and under, I think your mistaken somewhere from wherever you are getting your information.

Everybody knows the Maxima is faster, there may be a few freak Altimas out there but the bottom line is, the Max is faster period.

Your information you posted was wrong. There was a single report of a factory freak that is currently running 13.6. The rest of the drag guys with Altimas are hitting 14.3's and lower stock and 14.1's and lower modded.

Quality wise I would agree right there. Looks wise, well Maxima didnt win 2002 Car of the Year, that was the Altima. Personally I like the Maxima, it looks a little better, unfortunatley, most chicks dig my Altima more then a Maxima so thats why I dont complaim about it. Speed wise, well keep in mind the 7 gear box in the Maxima weighs more then the 6 gear box in the Altima. I know its got shorter gearing, but the Altima has a very good 5 speed.

You are right the Altima is a better looking car, that is why Nissan was smart enough to take the good looking Altima and put it with the best V6 in the world and made the 2002 car of the year because of that combo.

My experience is that "chicks" dig expensive cars - they dont give a rats crap for performance. I have a bud who the girls drool over his G35 even tho I can smoke his ass performance wise. Both our cars are black on vblack leather, blah dee blah - almost exact same cars - but the infinity badge wins (in in the parking lot only) Chicks like $$'S guys like performance.

Furthermore its funny that we are now debating whether a 3.5 altima can beat a max (it cant) whereas the thread started out as a 2.5 altima beating a max - hmmm the altimas keep getting more powerful and the maximas keep beating them ..... coincidence??

That is logical thinking since RWD loss is greater by about 10 percent. Keep in mind you can launch one much harder then a fwd car as mentioned by b2kmax. A car like a MR2 with R/R can beat an Integra GSR with F/F because it can get power to the ground without losing it, same with the Infiniti (keep in mind I am talking the 6speed version) and Maxima.

an mr2 is mid engine, rear wheel drive (hence the MR in MR2) and my friend has a 92 N/A one that's slow. i understand what you're saying though. if you're used to launching a ff i don't think it'll matter. my car can beat a 300zx. it's a similar comparison

well its sad but girls do like the guys w/the sweet rides. trust me girls dig my maxima,but when i take out my mother`s benz its no hold bar :silly2: . we really have a shallow society... its sad:)

FYI, I have over 25 years of driving a stick and the crack comment was only a joke no harm meant (stick around here long enough and you'll get to know me better) anyway I haven't met anyone other than you that says that you can smoke a G with your 2k3 Max, everyone else says that they lose or have lost all the time when trying to race.
Maybe they're just not as good as you are with a stick or maybe you have one of those freak cars.
Anyway lose the anger and laugh a lil when someone cracks on you here, I don't think anyone really has any bad intentions.

It may be a drivers race but that G35 can drop more of its power to the ground easier then a Max can.

I was tryin to be funny back dood - as if I really smoke crack rofl. Not offended here - no sweat!!

By the way all the road tests I have seen show these cars getting between 6.1 and 6.3 from 0-60 and 14.6 to 14.9 to a quarter mile. I have a good friend I can beat consistently and I have beat a couple tooling around on the road as well. Maybe I ought to hop in my buds car and see if I can beat my max if he is driving - that might be an interesting test.

Just bear in mind that if you do this and you both tie exactly, a "massive imbalance of the space-time continuum" might result. And Altimas might appear more attractive than 96 maximas. Or not.

LOL, Yup, I still want to find one to race before I do my exhaust and other engine mods.

the 6 speed g35 is the sport coupe. it's got the 287 hp engine out of the Z. not the typical 260.

I dont believe the G35 6-speed (sedan) is out yet. I did mention my post that I was comparing the 6 sp max to the auto G35.
