Many of you already know whats going on here. For those of you who don't, theres a 6 bolt swap with everything done right going on here. I've been slowly collecting my parts to do it but the time had come for the motor internals. Lets just say that I can be a very spontaneous person. Wednesday night I ordered every internal part that I would need. I am still short a few bolt on items but they can be worried about later once the motor is in the car again. Remember, this car is getting done from bumper to bumper with everything. :grinyes: Now for the list of everything...

Its a very nice blade. I think I'll keep it and not sue them. lol
I can thank Ohio's snow for the rust it has. I really didn't think it was that bad until I started poking it with a screwdriver... Thats when I decided I had to cut it all out and weld in some new steel.

My talon is from Chicago and wyoming, most of his life, but lucky have no rust any where. That one thing that make me worried, when I was up to chicago to check out the car , RUST....

Wow. It looks so good from the outside you wouldn't think it would have so much rust. After you get done with the metal work you should go ahead and have it painted while it's all took apart, so the engine compartment will look nice and fresh for the fresh 6 bolt.

Well its adding up quick... Lemme tell ya... I have 3000 in buying my car, 2000 in built trannys, 2600 in motor internals, and about 1500 in bolt on stuff... So I'm probably topping 9000 into my whole car... But it will be like brand new since I'm doing everything from bumper to bumper.
And this picture is for Scott... Thats 1/3 of the shop. lol

I think i would have gone with mitsu belt instead of Greddy Kevlar timing belt
Why i say this is because i have heard a few people that went with that same belt and fucked there shit up because of belt breaking.
IMO nothing is like the OEM mitsu belt ;)

My IC pipes are red and scratched up. Don't want to go red cause I hate alot of color in the engine bay. Don't want to go polished because I hate the blingy, flashy look. I don't want my car to be flashy by any means....gotta look straight hard core. So I should go gloss if I paint? Then I guess its gonna be the silver with clear coat.

I think he wants to be able to rev it high.
Blackcrow64
07-11-2006, 07:06 PM
Nah, I would rather have a motor that can rev higher. IMO, the 2.4's will have better bottom end power and spool the turbo quicker, but a shorter powerband. But, the 2.0 will be able to stretch the power band out further... If I am understanding everything I've ever read correctly... Somebody please correct me if I am wrong.
Thor06
07-11-2006, 08:20 PM
Well, I think its all basically the same. You cant rev out a 2.3 as far, but it spools quicker, and vice versa on the 2.0. I think it basically cancells out, you have basically the same power band range, but its shifted like 800 RPMS higher on the 2.0. The 2.3 will have a bit more bottom end torque though. I say 2.1 destroker. Kinda best of both worlds, extra displacement and extra revs. Mmmmm. If I were to do a bottom end build thats what I would do.
blk_srt
07-11-2006, 11:36 PM
I was going to go with a destroker but from graphs that I've seen it actually has less bottom end than any thing else. I think it makes peak power close to 8k and up to 5k it makes less than 150hp and tq. That is with peak hp being 707 and tq being 503. IMO its not worth it because then you have to make everything else work at 10k+

07-13-2006, 02:26 AM
The 2.3 is going to make more power motor wise than the 2.0. And when you look at it, you won't loose that much rev on the 2.3 opposed to the 2.0.

I had a bag that had a boost controller, some headlight bulbs, a blow off vlave, several spools of wire, wire connectors, little adapters, wire strippers (the nice kind), a few other little tools, and some hoses and clamps...
Yeah, if it was stolen I'm seriously gonna mess somebody up... My brother says that he never let the kid out of his sight and that he couldn't have taken it... Lemme guess, the bag grew wings and flew away?... Yeah I'm seriously pissed off about it cause the boost controller is going to longemoco on here and of course with my luck it was in the bag... I really hate it when something goes missing like this. :(

Looks like you did a good job. I have a friend who redid his burgundy interior (300zx) black and it turned out real well. Don't trust that "spray on carpet dye in a can" stuff though. Didn't work worth a crap for us, I told him from the beginning to just replace the carpet or rip it out and dye it properly.
Blackcrow64
08-07-2006, 04:33 PM
Killer, I properly painted it. I just hope that it all holds up and doesn't flake off or anything... There was a piece I had done several months ago to test it on and after I let it cure properly for a week in a temperature controlled enviroment it seemed pretty strong. I scratched and scratched on it but couldn't get it to come off so I'm hoping that it stays that way with all this too.
As for the carpet, I am gonna finish pulling it all out and properly dye it. I'm not sure if the leather seats can be dyed too or not... I'm kinda leery about doing them as well.

lol Thanks man. There will be more to come as I get more parts and more sections finished... I think sometime this week I am gonna try to get under the hood finished so it'll be ready for bolting new stuff in and the motor and such. The nice thing about such a big project is that when I get tired of the motor I go over to the interior. When I get sick of that, I hop back over to the motor, then over to the wheels, etc. Its kinda nice. lol I'm sure it'll be more frustrating as the project draws near an end. (In a few months, lol.)

If you cleaned it well, and used either a plastic primer or a good quality plastic paint then you shouldn't have any worries.

Hopefully I'll have some more pictures here by next week. Its hard to get much done between work and helping my buddy finish up his GSX... I'll have a nice little thread on his car hopefully within the next week too and you guys better be ready for it. Almost a years worth of work has gone into his car and its freaking amazing. You'll all probably be making a mess on your keyboards when you see it. lol :p
