The complete gasket kit runs about 150 bucks, the weisco pistons were about 450, and the fp2 cams were about 400...

Just as an added update, I am actually gonna have the motor back tomorrow and start putting it back in the car hopefully. :)
Man, where the hell are you buying your parts from they are cheap compared to what ive found??? Also i have a 95 awd that im rebuilding slowly but surely, bottom line a couple friends of mine are fuckin haters about my car and always shoot me down when they get a chance. i know i need a set of new pistons and rods, but they're saying i need to exchange the crank no matter what. i just need some feedback from people who know what they are talking about. Also, whats a good online site for buying parts besides e-bay?

The cranks are good for about 900hp... I've gotten a good bit of stuff from www.extremepsi.com... They seem to have a lot of good prices on stuff. Hit me up with a PM anytime ya need some help/info on stuff and I'll help the best I can. :)

Hows the project coming along? I just took the time to look at the whole thing from page 1. Your doin an awesome job. I like what u did with the interior and dying the leather black, and the pic of the engine and tranny installed looks bad ass. Cant wait to see it when its all done. Once i get my house and a garage id like to buy a beat up ass 1g and restore it from the ground up, but that wont be for awhile.

I suppose I am a bit overdue on an update... Ever since my journeys to California and my return home and back off to a few other extra states due to over intoxication, I haven't worked on it. Although I did spend a good bit of time on it yesterday and got a few things in order of what I needed to finish it. Should have the rest of the final little parts by Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. I have a few little things I can do for now though... If I don't party too hard on my 4 day weekend off from work.

Negative... I've been killed here workin 10pm-7am shift and waiting on stupid little parts that break... I will give a little update here now though...

I just ordered an RRE CAS rewiring harness so it'll be an easy plug and play deal for me. I am having a horrible time trying to get the tranny seals out for the front axles without scarring up the casing. I still have to figure out what to do about the driver side axle boot which is completely tore off. Supposedly the only way to deal with that is to buy a whole new axle which I don't feel like doing...

I had the fuel line right off the sending unit snap off on me cause the fitting was so corroded there. So now I have to run a new stock line from there to the fuel filter or I can run a SS AN line... I haven't decided what to do there... I still need a 420a radiator so I can relocate the inlet to avoid my header. Still gotta wire up a few of my gauges. Still gotta have my buddy do all my IC piping and exhaust... I gotta bleed all my brake and clutch lines and this bad boy should be ready to go...

Ha... Too bad I'm going so slow with it...

You can buy replacement boots, but if they're stock, it's almost just as cheap to buy rebuilt ones as it is to rebuild them (replace boot, repack with grease, etc)
My seals would always pop out with a flatblade screwdriver.

SS all the way man... and that radiator I showed you is an aluminum Koyo racing radiator. Not bad for $170.

You're a helluva lot closer to being done than I am...

To keep the pic whores happy, enjoi my latest pic (If this offends you Brian, you may remove it, my feelings won't be hurt).

Here's what I received Monday:

(I'd post the pic here, but I previewed it, and it's f'in huge).

Keep us updated man... I'll hopefully be doing a sort of write-up on mine after I'm done, sadly, it won't have pics from the beginning... I just got my dig cam, I have a few from the FWD, when it broke and I painted stuff. Oh well.

I can't find where I can just get a replacement boot? They say I gotta buy the whole axle... Or is this some type of universal boot your talking about?

I think I may have to just go with that radiator even tho I was being mr. cheap and lookin for a cheaper one. lol

The tranny seals aren't coming out with a flathead screwdriver then. It's like they are seized up or something... It really sucks.

I looked at the link for the outer rear boots(w/ and W/o lsd), they appear to be the same, but I'll leave the link just in case.

I really do think that's a good deal on a radiator, especially being name brand, aluminum, and NEW. The Koyo for the turbos runs aroud $350(or more).

I really think those tranny seals should come out with just a flathead. I actually pulled both my FWD trans out tonight(for pics, I think I have them sold, WOOT!!!) and the seals don't seem like they should be "seized"... How hot did your trans get? Could they have turned to plastic and melted to the case?

Ok, so I need to order this CV boot tonight now along with a few other little things I need to finish up the Talon... I just did a ton of stuff on it today and got a lot accomplished...

All of those links say Inner boot when I click on them. The only difference is the part numbers... Does it not matter if its for Driver or Passenger side? I need the Inner boot on the Driver side just beyond the Carrier bearing... Which one is it for sure?

All I could find on there was complete axle sets... I talked to my buddy at the dealership here and I cannot get just the axle boot like I need from Mitsu... So I don't even have a part number or anything to go by... Mike posted up links to those axle boots, but they all appear to be the same and I donno which one I need to order... I'm hoping he gets online sometime tonight or tomorrow morning and can tell me which one I need specifically...

Well I just happened to be strolling through pep boys the other day to pick up some royal purple and I walked down the aisle where they have that 'HELP' type stuff and to my lower left at the end I noticed they had a massive pile of CV boots for individual sale. So if you have a local pep boys , you could go look there ? and save yourself the hassle of internet matching or searching if they have them.

How do you get to the ignition coil inside the Mitsubishi distributer, do you have to drive out the pin that holds the gear, or do you have to tueb the screw in the center of the rotor socket. Does this screw screw backwards?

What the heck are you talking about? There are no distributors and rotors on these motors. They use coil packs...

Like this...

Thought you guys might like to see a few pictures of what I just got in the mail...

http://www.threadlinedesigns.com/talon/81.jpg

Got my 10mm Magnecor's, Flanges for my turbo and header, v-band for my downpipe, an awesome mount for my coil pack, turbo feed and return lines, a few harnesses, and my belts...

The mount for the coil pack was pretty sweet I thought, and I wasn't sure where to mount it so I thought; sure why not... It is a nice pieces, but I thought the welds coulda been a little nicer...

http://www.threadlinedesigns.com/talon/83.jpg
The look decent here...

http://www.threadlinedesigns.com/talon/82.jpg
But then you look on the penetration side and theres all these nasty lookin goobers... I might try to clean them up a bit so it doesn't look so bad and then polish the piece...

Anywho... Now all I gotta do is hunt down a good sending unit top since the fuel line snapped off of mine and I'll be very close to start up... :)

I don't remember if I posted that the ones I got were the wrong ones, so I sent them back and they got lost in the mail. Thats pretty close to being the same wheel, but yes the bolt patterns are different... If you noticed, the Mustangs share the same bolt patterns as DSM's. Just something to note and remember if you ever see any wheels on a DSM that you would like on your Mustang.

Wow I sure got a lot done today on the Talon... Finally had some ambition in my life again...

Got the whole underside back together...

Does anybody know if I can get just the boot covers for the ball joints without buying an entire ball joint? I have one ripped on each side and figured I would replace them before I put the wheel assemblies back together...

Tomorrow I plan on wiring up gauges, changing my throttle cable and putting the rest of my interior back together...

Friday I will be getting the welding started on everything...

I am pumped up again about the DSM...

Also tomorrow morning when I get home from work I am gonna do a quick write up on changing axle boots for anybody else ever needing to know how to do em... I got pictures too...

Ohhhh... I almost forgot too...

I got my valve cover back from being powdercoated... Oh boy does it look sexy... But I'm gonna do one more thing to it before I post any pictures.

I keep forgetting about this build. I'm dying to see progress pics. I'll be so glad when my broke leg is healed so I can do more upgrades to The Red Rag in the form of tubular manifold and tial wastegate....damn its gonna be so nasty. I know how you feel about not getting to drive it though...mine just sits in the driveway cause I can't drive, being that its a stick and my clutch leg is the one thats broken. It finally got drove today though for the first time in the past month. I got my best friend and co-mechanic who helped me build the car to drive me around town, so that was cool. Pimped out my own car from the passenger seat. I could drive my Civic if I needed to because its an auto....but its overheating terribly at the moment, and its completly torn down on the exterior because I was in the process of doing a color change on it in my garage (I've always been into painting but now I'm actually doing it on a large scale by painting a whole car for the first time)...but then I broke my leg so its not finished. I'm ready to get healed cause I got so much stuff that needs to be done. I also got a 1990 Honda civic hatchback waiting for me to do a color change on. I already stripped all the interior out of the rear of the car. After I'm healed I'm going to cut all the un-needed brackets out of the back interior area like the spare tire bracket and rear seat bracket and fill in the holes then smooth it all and strip out all the sound deadening material. Then I'm going to strip the rest of the interior so no paint gets on it. Because I'm going to paint the rear area of the inside of the car that I talked about smoothing....going to paint it the same color I'm painting the outside of the car. I'm also painting all the door and hatch jams also. So thats going to be a fun project...I'm going to take atleast a month to do it. I'm doing it for free for my home boy but hes paying material costs and hes gonna help do the dirty work....bodywork and sanding. He helps me with my cars so I'm returning the favor...plus I love painting and need the practice.

Wow I just wrote alot of stuff. I've got a bad habit of rambling on. But I just wanted to relate my projects' frustrations. You can't finish your car because of wrong parts....and I can't finish all mine because I'm temporarily handicapped....its crazy. I'm bored.

Hey heres some pictures of two of my projects: (sorry for stealing your thread Blackcrow)

Heres the 1990 hatch. Its got a d16 vtec swapped in from a 95 si and a small shot of nitrous. Got some fake spoon rims too...Rota's.

You are my hero right now...

I am so excited that I can buy just the boots now instead of the whole assembly!

**EDIT**
Wait a minute... Which one is the correct one that I need? Just the dust boot set or one of the other two?...

LoL you had me confused....but I did some more searching around and I see
that most all of the suspension master kits only have just the ball joint boots and no dust cover. So I did what I usually do and call my dad he is one hell of a mechanic in my opinion. He was like it is usually better to by new ball joints. Then after looking around some more I would have to agree with him just buy new
Ball joints because its going to be a pain in the ass trying to get the right ones for your car. and nine out of ten times if the boot is damaged the ball joint is too.Maybe that helped you some man.If anyone else has any other ideas feel free to throw them in.

replace the ball joint. Its so much easier to replace them while they arent totally shot anyway.

Well they are no wear near being shot though... The boots just dry rotted and ripped from setting so long without being moved and then when they were moved they tore like they were nothin... Thats the same thing that happened with my axle boot that I had to replace... Plus I don't wanna shell out a ton of money on both balljoints when these ones still have several years that I can get out of them...

Well since the Talon is going to be a daily driver and a souped up racer it wouldnt hurt for you to just buy stock/basic ball joints to go back in the car
since your not using the car for drifting at high ass speeds......Holy crap on second thought I just looked it up and the MOOG Ball joints are 96 bucks a piece....If I where you I would call the local parts house man.I have looked and looked but all I can seem to find is stuff for chevy and fords.:disappoin
