:1: not after all this poor car has been through... i would not, NOT use the 18g right off the bat, during the break in period at all... just incase... i mean, think about it man...

Blackcrow64

Yeah, that'll be so easy since everything about a stock turbo will bolt right up to this thing after all the changes...

Seriously guys, I'm gonna run the 18g on it from the get go... I see no problem doing it this way with my inline oil filter. There are a lot of people who don't run break in turbos on DSM's. It is just another one of those personal preference things.

Yeaaahhh, I know that I've been a part of it too, but we should cool off him a bit... this has passed the point of casual heckling. Cars arent everything, especially with full time and over night work, trying to get/keep a relationship going during the day when hes not sleeping, and trying to play in a band. I'd say those things are more important than a car any day.

Let's not get this thread more off track than it already is. We should just stop posting here until Brian gets more work done. They did that on Tuners with a 420a Dragster project. They kept locking the thread if there were no updates to keep out the chatter.

Not neccessarily off track, everyone was wondering the progress of Brian's progress, and some poking fun amongst a bunch a car guys for falling behind.

Only thing made it off track thus far is the random comment, that at the moment is a random shot out comment that I hope I'm just taking the wrong way at the moment.

Thor was right on track to my life here. Working 10pm-7am everyday is definitely burning me out hardcore. Not to mention trying to find time to keep up with all my daily chores around the home and still finding time to hang with my gf and friends and play in my band and sleep sometime in there. So when I was working on the car for a while there, I was burning the candle at both ends and I just haven't been able to catch up on rest ever since. Heck I've told my gf the last 3 days that we would hang out and every day I have turned my alarm off and fell back asleep for 4 extra hours or so because I am that wore out. So I haven't even got to hang out with her. I'm hoping to make up for that tomorrow with my only day off for the next 2 weeks. :(

Then there is the fact that I might be picking up a second full time job during the day working 7am-5pm... That will give me about 3 hours of free time a day and that is it. I don't know yet if I am going to be able to handle it or not but the 3000 a month I will be bringing home will be well worth it... My goal is to get the 7000 I owe left on my Cobalt to get it paid off and so I can eliminate my monthly car payment and full coverage insurance and drop it to just liability. That way I don't have to sell one of my cars when I move out. Then I also have a 2k hospital bill that I am trying to get paid off in the process also. So this has given me no time to work on the car at all. If I do go through with taking this second job then I won't even have time for the gf or the band for a while... I'm sure they will all understand as I will only be doing it for a few months to get a solid 9-12k behind my belt to get both those major bills paid off. Then I will be in the clear. I will be able to save so much money by not having to pay those bills each month and I will be able to get my own place and really get my life on the move.

So that is why the Talon hasn't been moving anywhere for a while... Now if I happen to get a day off and my gf is busy and I'm not working with the band then I will definitely work on the Talon some, but I don't see that happening any time very soon here...

I hope SOME of you understand where I'm coming from here. As much as I would like to have it finished, I don't yet. Bills and other things HAVE to come first sometimes... But yes, the car is very very close to being finished. Trust me on that one. But I won't be taking it out in this foot of snow and ice that we got last night. Hell it sucked bad enough shoveling it this morning after working all night. Also I got the Cobalt stuck and wanted to kill people... >_<

My FUCKING hood got knocked over with the top side down and it got scratched to FUCK and back by someone. My brother saw it and didn't even pick it up. He left it. So I go out to look and somebody else had put it on the roof of my car and probably scratched the FUCK out of my roof now too... I am so unbelievably fucking mad right now that I could seriously beat the living fuck out of somebody...

That's the last fucking straw... I'm moving the fuck out of this house and taking my fucking car with me to another fucking garage...

I donno if you were here yet or not, but the car was painted just prior to the tranny going out, which was right before the motor... So the paint job on the thing was very expensive and fresh... I am so pissed off about all the damage that I can't even sleep right now. I should be sleeping all day since I have to work again tonight. Which I still have 5 more days to go before I get a few days off... These stupid 9 day stretches kill me... :(

On a better note. I am going to look at a house later today with some people. I am making a separate thread for it in the Off Topic section so not to stray my build thread any further...

Same here Brian, I have chips missing of the sharp end of my hood where it bolted up to the hinges. I took it off when I was working on my car and didn't bother to wrap it up before storing it. I was blowing fuckin fire out my nose when i noticed I had chipped the paint, it makes me want to murder some one just think about it!!!

Dude... I don't wanna go through and edit every post for the last 28 pages and find all the pictures again... Maybe I'll just go ahead and make my Final Page thread and redo the entire process of the build with all the picture in that instead... That way people won't have to go through 30 pages of progress and other BS to read about it...

**EDIT**
Oh yeah... I will finally give you all a for sure finished date now... It will be done by April 1st... For real this time...

Blackcrow64
03-18-2008, 09:07 AM
Well, I couldn't sleep yet today so I compiled a list of what I have left on the Talon...

-loop oil filter housing in and out for external oil cooler
-fmic mounting posts
-mount coil pack and extend wires
-fuel return line
-spark plug wires
-bleed brakes
-bleed clutch line
-CAS single wire tap
-weld underside of TB
-weld UICP, MAFS and BOV
-weld turbo intake and filter
-turbo oil feed and return lines
-manifold to turbo gasket
-reconnect throttle cable to pedal
-mount ignitor
-mount battery box
-reconnect MAFT wires inside
-connect gauge signal wires under hood; oil pressure, water temp, egt, boost
-upper radiator line
-heater core lines
-install electronic boost controller
-install turbo timer
-mount and wire up radiator fans
-headliner
-crossmember and front motor mount
-check all fluids
-driver side balljoint and castle nut... no clue...
-RECHECK EVERYTHING!!!
-CHECK AGAIN!!!
-start that shit up...

The list seems to be a lot longer than I thought it was once I made it. Oh well, I'll still have it done by April 1st... Maybe if I work hard around the clock this weekend when I'm off for 3 days then I could start it up sooner... Who knows... Don't even ask about my balljoint... It's totally fucked and gonna need replaced as soon as this thing is running...

Does anybody have a t25 manifold to turbo gasket? I need one and don't have my old one anywhere... :(

david-b
03-18-2008, 10:16 AM
See I would have been out there working on it instead of making this list last night. Stuff like the mounting, connecting pedals up and all... can all be done fairly quickly. Then do all the electronics another day or later on or whatever. Then weld another. It doesn't seem to bad and seems like its right in reach.
