What happened? Why are you kicked out?

Blackcrow64
03-18-2008, 08:56 PM
Just know that there was a huge fight and I am very disappointed with how my parents acted towards the whole thing. My brother is the one who started it all and they didn't even say shit to him which pisses me off. He makes more than anybody in this house yet he doesn't have to do shit or pay any of his own bills and yet I'm the one getting kicked out... Completely unreal... I'm looking into an apartment next week. I sure hope I can get the Talon running this weekend to get it out of here with me...

Interesting... I came home this morning from work and my dad was standing in the garage waiting for me. He tried apologizing and shifting the blame of this whole thing onto the entire family as a whole. He tried telling me that I don't have to leave and blah blah blah... I'm sick of this bullshit game him and my mom play when they get pissed off at me for no reason. I'm done playing it. Regardless of what he says now, it's too late. The damage is done... He has done this to me too many times in the last few months and I can't take it again. I'll stress out and kill over if I do. It's a good thing to know that I don't have to be out like today like what was said last night, but I'm still going to move out now... I'll just focus my energy on getting the Talon finished first here this week and then I'll start looking for an apartment around here...

*sigh* Does anyone wanna trade families? lol... :(

LMAO, see Brian it could be worse...

Get the talon running asap and then move out of the house. Sounds like a good plan as long as you can afford the bills.

Thor06
03-19-2008, 01:32 PM
Well damn dude, if he went to the trouble of appologizing I wouldnt just throw it in his face. You can be sick of him and still have a good relationship, matter of fact I bet if you had more of a friendship type of relationship with your parents, you wouldnt have nearly as many problems. At the same time, it is probably about time you move out. I wouldnt go to California if I were you though, not without a job anyway.

JoeShmoe
03-19-2008, 01:52 PM
Yeah I'm in the same boat as Dustin. Don't take off to some place without having a secure job there first. I don't think its very smart to move out fisrt and then go thru hell to find a job that won't pay the bills. Think about Brian, plan shit out first.

wrightz28
03-19-2008, 02:53 PM
Speaking from the other side of the fence,

Often at times parents are not in agreeance with each other's methods and beliefs. And of course each think their way is the 'right' way. Trust me, right now my 2 boys and I barely say a word to each other as I've backed off and let my wife's ideals take over until they blow up in her face. Where does this leave me? Sleeping on a couch in the basement. :(

So, I think maybe your dad IS trying to tell you something. It's unforunate, yet true, when parents are irrated with their children's behavior, sometimes the regression against the other parent are taken out on the child.

AND, for a father to suck up and admit to his son that he was wrong is huge. "Throwing it back in his face" is no more different than standing over a fire pit with a 5 gallon gas container and trying to sprinkle it over the flame.

So yesterday I spent most of the day wiring shit up/running wires where they needed to go and mounting things I've made... I just printed up wiring manuals for my EBC and turbo timer and I'm gonna go finish that up here and run into town and get a few lines and fluids that I need... I'm waiting on my manifold to turbo gasket to be shipped to me and I need to find a banjo bolt for my turbo oil feed line and the banjo bolts for my external oil cooler and I should be good to go on having everything... I'm gonna see what day my buddy can weld my UICP and I should be good to start it after that...

Oh crap... Does anybody have a DSM tore apart right now? Anybody at all? I still can't find the bolts for remounting my crossmember/lower motor mount and I need to see some pictures or measurements of the correct bolts for it... That thing is driving me crazy! :banghead:

david-b
03-22-2008, 01:42 PM
You should email some of those people on eBay who are parting out DSMs and ask for those. They'll usually pretty good with shit like that. That's what I do. Can't help you with that though

http://a831.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/32/l_ebe655aee10ae4938d53c6c208a715d6.jpg
Does anyone know how this bottom piece comes out of the center console? It is loose like it comes out but I can't find any tabs or screws holding it in. I was able to almost pull it out but I was worried it was about to break for as hard as I was pulling on it... Any ideas?

http://a234.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/55/l_12e59adb7794d498225ccb83b2f64de9.jpg
Ok... So now this is my turbo timer harness and the harness I bought to plug directly into my ignition... Here is what I can't figure out... Do I need to wire these loose wires in somewhere else or together or something? I can't find any installation instructions online to tell me what to do with them. I found out what they are actually for, but they also run in with the wires that plug directly into the ignition section. Maybe they need to be connected to each other here then? Any ideas on this? It's an HKS turbo timer by the way...

So, all in all, it was a pretty productive day. My friend brought back my TB that he welded for me and I got all that put back together. Then I gave him half of my MAS and my UICP to cut up and weld for me sometime this week. I have most of that list I posted up knocked off now... I found the correct gasket I needed online and ordered it this morning for 15 bucks. It should be here in a few days. Now I need to search around and find some banjo bolts for my external oil cooler and one for my turbo oil feed line... Wednesday I am gonna be taking my oil pan off again to have a bung welded onto it for my oil return line. I totally forgot about having it until I went to connect it all today. At least I won't have to worry about that stupid thing leaking like it does for everyone else. lol...

My next thing to make... Not a necessity to start it, but I am gonna have a few days to kill until I can finish it up here so... I am gonna try to make my own mount for in the center console for my radio, turbo timer, EBC, and AFC... No, I'm not cramming it all in that tiny space. lol... I am debating buying one of those AFC mounts for in the heater section. I got to thinking about it. I'm never driving this in the snow or cold again, so why am I worried about the heater vents? Worse case scenario, I have to use the defroster and floor vents. Whoop dee doo...

Oh yeah, that black piece of plastic under the windshield wipers was looking pretty dull and faded. So, I cleaned it all up, primed and painted it fresh. It looks amazing now. Sorry I didn't get any pictures of it yet...

I emailed a guy about those bolts I need for my crossmember. I'm hoping he replies by tomorrow and gets them sent out to me ASAP...

I started mounting the battery box but ran out of time and energy tonight. I will have to do a few changes to mounting that too anyways...

So let's see what my updated list of things to finish looks like now...

-find banjo bolts for external oil cooler
-fuel return line
-weld UICP, MAFS and BOV
-weld turbo intake and filter
-turbo oil feed and return lines
-mount battery box
-mount and wire up radiator fans
-headliner
-crossmember and front motor mount
-check all fluids
-driver side balljoint and castle nut... no clue...
-RECHECK EVERYTHING!!!
-CHECK AGAIN!!!
-start that shit up...

Hmmm... Not very much left guys!

And I bet half of you didn't think I would shorten the list to this much. lol...

Extremepsi has those banjo fittings/bolts that you need. Get this thing finished soon so I can assess the condition of the paint. Methinks it's going to need buffed, polished, glazed, & waxed. It got scuffed alot out there. BTW, I pay ALL of my own bills.

Looks like the RS did on Thursday, but I think I've made a little more progress than you did. :p Did you remove the screws on the side of the console that are hidden by the seats? I'm guessing that's what you think is holding the console in. Slide the seats all the way forward and on both sides you'll see a filler piece to cover the hole Pop that guy off and you'll be able to remove the screws and then pop off the whole console.

I'm not lookin to pop off the whole console. Just that piece on the inside of the console...

Yeah, I found the ones for the turbo feed line last night then after searching around a bit...

The guy replied then to my crossmember bolts then. He has all of them that I need and is gonna send em to me for 20 bucks. Yay! I also ordered a nice coolant overflow tank...

Anyone know what size the bolts are for the oil filter housing for my external oil cooler lines?

Well... I said I would be starting it by today. Unfortunately, that isn't gonna happen now... My bro is picking up a few things from Summit tonight for me on his way home from work and I have the oil cooler lines in the mail that I need to connect it. Also my bolts for the crossmember are in the mail and should be here tomorrow maybe... Oh yeah, my turbo gasket should be in the mail too, but I haven't heard anything about it yet and its been over a week... I better see that shit soon...

As for everything else, all I have to do is finish mounting my fans and wire them up tomorrow, do my turbo oil return line, my fuel return line, run all my vacuum lines, wire up some power to my gauges and such, and have the lower part of my UICP welded and we will be good to go for start up... :)

So hopefully by this time next week I will be posting some finished pictures and such...

Holy hell!!!

I cannot believe this project is still going on!!!

I just went through the last 30 pages, scrolling for pics and possibly a video of this beast tearing up the street but it still hasnt moved yet! In the last two years away from this forum, I have been through a 1997 Eclipse RS, 1992 Talon TSi AWD, 1991 Nissan 300ZX, and now have a 2002 Audi A4 1.8t quattro (for over a year now). I have been through all those cars and yours is still sitting!!

GET TO IT!!

Lol, its all good though, I am sure it will be well worth the wait!

Oh and since you wont post pics (none of them even work anymore, lol) I will post one up of my most recent car (keeper):

I can. lol... I've not had as much time to work on shit as I wanted to and I've been running into lots of detail problems... I got that dual FAL really cheap that I think was meant for a 1g, because it totally didn't fit on my radiator... So... I may or may have not cut it in half and made it two separate fans for better mounting. lol...

Yeah yeah, I'm gettin to it... It's been really crazy with me lately. We've had a lot going on with my family and I haven't really had time to update you guys on the Talon progress...

Well, I was hoping to start it yesterday but that didn't happen. It turns out, I don't have an o2 sensor anymore and that kind of screwed me over for a few days here... Everything is pretty much done on the car to get it running aside from a few minor details that doesn't matter to have it running. My friend just upgraded to an AEM so I am getting his old Zetronix and wideband from him... Hopefully I'll have that this week and then I can fire it up... The only other thing I have to do is get the rest of my interior back in shape, but that is a minor detail to it...

Sorry I don't have more pictures. I just snapped a handful of them yesterday...

http://www.batzlimedia.com/talon/1.jpg

http://www.batzlimedia.com/talon/2.jpg

I'm just leaving the bumper and hood off until I know for sure that there are no problems or major leaks to be fixed...

**EDIT**
Oh yeah... The fans... I can't even get the slimlines to fit between my turbo and radiator now, so I am getting a different single fan to put between my radiator and FMIC to push some major air and I don't have to worry about space so much then...

Looks awesome. I'm sure it will be a beast...I'm semi jealous.

Anyways, yeah I scrapped my stock fans that no longer fit, and put a universal fan in between my radiator/FMIC. I then reversed the polarity of the fan to make it push instead of pull.

Seems to work just fine, but I havent put many miles on the car in traffic yet but I don't think I will have any problems with it.

I have a few things being shipped to me this week and then its start up and drive time... I only have two things to track down. A new castle nut for my axle which I think I'll end up having to get from a dealership and the line from the intake manifold to the brake booster that has the check valve in it. Somehow I lost mine... Other than that, it's time to hit the streets... :)

Damn dude! My IM to brake booster line doesnt have any valve in it... I dont know if its different on the 2g or not.
It should have a valve Dustin. If not then you'll feed boost into your brake booster and blow it out and your brakes won't work for shit... Maybe you should be looking into that. Unless the check valve is built into the actual brake booster itself or is a fitting on the IM... Definitely find out for sure though man... For your sake and safety. lol

Update anyone?

With the healthy 60+ hours a week I've been pumping out, I haven't had time to touch it since I started this new job. The sad part is that winter is almost here and I won't be able to drive it very much before it starts snowing. The plus side? I have lots of money now to buy another F-body too. Hehe...

Gimme some time here. I actually have a 3 day weekend coming up and I am gonna try to work on it as long as I have all my other stuff caught up around here.

Just thought I'd let ya'll know I'm not dead yet. I still try to hit this place up every other day at least. Maybe once we get some more techs hired then I can cut back on my hours and actually be around here more again.

Long story short, you can't spell disappointment without dsm...

Ok, so here is what's goin down... Had a few leak issues today. Have a slight oil leak from the turbo return line. Of course... Go figure... Actually the line isn't leaking, the oil pan was originally cracked pretty bad there and we repaired it and thought it was good. Looks like we were wrong... It had maybe 3 or 4 drips overnight so I'm not worried about it at this point. If it gets worse then I'll have to do something about it. Then we had a major leak that I didn't realize for a few minutes. Had the radio in the shop up far too loud to hear it all going right out the coolant line and onto the floor. Good one Brian... Turned out to be a bad O ring in the water pipe to the water pump. Took all that apart again and found the O ring had tore when I was putting it all back together. Fortunately I had an extra O ring of the same size as an extra. Replaced it and put it all back together and the leak was all good. Did some trimming on my bumper to my front mount to have it all fit nicely and it's ready to be mounted. I'm trying to find a better way to mount the bumper to the fenders though than just two bolts. Anybody have any ideas?

Just so you know, I did NOT start it yet as I was having so many problems with shit that I got pissed and called off the start up for the day. I am making sure I work out all the problem bugs before I start it and attempt to drive it... I had my calipers on their way and I should have them by Tuesday at 3pm and then I can get them put on. All except the damn driver side one where the slide bolt broke off in the bracket. I need to do some searching online tonight to see if I can find a bracket anywhere and if not then a junkyard tomorrow.

OH and then I had my freakin clutch line leaking when I went to bleed it. My brother had this awesome one person brake bleeder that uses the air hose and it made it nice. Too bad while I'm under the car I can't see what's going on up top. Had the line right behind the clutch reservoir spraying out where it wasn't tight enough. That was quite the nice little mess...

So... Here is what's left to startup... Find a brake bracket for the front drivers side, put my front calipers on when they get here. Run a wire to the front o2 input on my ECU from my simulator...

Who's excited? This guy...

Just in time for... winter... :(
