Here's a question for you guys... I was examining my dash and door panels and noticed that they are not plastic but more of a vinyl material. Should these be painted or dyed? Also, the lid to the center console is the same material and even though the paint is dry it feels veeery sticky. Should I strip it and dye it as well?
**EDIT**
Oh yeah, that grey weatherstripping material? Can it be dyed too?
All this little shit is starting to get on my nerves. It better all turn out ok. lol

I just painted my dash and center council piece and it all turned out great, I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. About that weatherstripping, I wouldn't paint it, it would probably take away the workability of it.

Well yeah that and it would flake off as soon as I bend it. Thats why I asked about dying it... Is everything in your RS painted or was some stuff dyed?

Everything was painted. I was going to dye the seats and carpet but decided not to....mainly because I was too lazy to take everything out again. :)

I went shopping tonight!
Now I'll actually have everything I need to finish off my interior... More pics of the interior will come once I have it completely finished and how I want it. For now you'll have to settle with this picture of stuff I bought tonight. :)
BTW, the filter and piping was off my friends old motor setup and will be going straight onto my turbo once we cut the pipe and angle it a little different.

What would you buy first that I still need? The main reason I went with getting my gauges and such is so that I can finish the interior all up. Theres nothing else I can really do until I get the motor back from getting bored and balanced and assembled.

True, but now I have all the gauges out of the way and don't gotta worry about that at a later time now... Anyways, I still have a lot of work to do. Either way I gotta buy it all sooner or later. With this I can finish the interior instead of waiting around and just get it out of the way.
Any progress on your 7 bolt yet?

Whoever said taking the dash out is easy was full of shit... I mean its not absolutly horrible, but I would never wanna do it again. :2cents:
Anyways...... So heres a few nice little update pictures for you guys to chew on for a while. After I got it all out tonight I realized that it would be pretty sweet to give it a full race dash.
I don't think it would be too hard to do. It would only need a simple aluminum frame and the rest can be molded with fiberglass. If I were to actually do this I wouldn't be putting the stock gauges back in at all. It would get a whole nice set of Autometers and I would do away with the a-pillar pods.
So here it is guys... Gimme some thoughts on my idea... Or should I just stick with redoing the interior stock and black?

How the hell do I get these things for the seat belts off?? I have pryed and pryed and am worried I'm gonna break em off if I pry anymore. I figured that it was just a snap cover and then I could take the bolt out and it would come right off the raise track.

Gotta love friends with extra DSM parts laying around. I believe he actually paid 100 for them out of the bargin bin at Summit because they had already been opened once. Nothing wrong with em though so its all good.
But I do believe that they are originally in the price area of 300-400 dollars.

I prefer Biological Waste Disposal Engineer... Cause I do a lot of things that a typical "janitor" wouldn't do... Sometimes I get to box up body parts/fluids and biological hazzard stuff to be sent out and incinerated. I'm actually right now waiting for this one full time job to open up doing projects all the time. If it opens up I am so taking it so I an have a better employment title in life here... I would have assumed it to be hard to pick up chicks when ya gotta tell em your a janitor, but to my surprise I was wrong. I can't believe how many girls actually thought it was cute... None the less, I do not think its "cute". In a way its just downright degrading to me and makes me feel like a "terrific accomplishment" in life. Hopefully soon I can drop this titles and pick up a better one. lol

I tell ya what... If they ever make me do the shit they made me do today again I'll walk off the job... I had to load one of these massive box trucks (about the size of the largest u-hauls you can rent) with all the recycling and shit we've accumulated over the last 3 weeks... Usually its picked up twice a week but I don't know whats been going on there. So anyways, theres a million flys and nats all over these bags of cans and shit with damn mold growing in them. I was like oh wtf this is so not fair... They stick me with the damn retard that doesn't do anything as it is and then he starts gagging like a little girl and I'm like get the f*ck out of my way. I loaded up the cart and shoved it at him. I was pissed to all hell. My blood pressure was so high it was unreal. We had a room that was about 30 feet by 60 feet and the bags were piled about 15 feet high... Yeah, it was by far the worst smelling thing I have ever experienced in my entire life...
Never again... Next time they will blow me before I dig through that shit...
Anyways, a new job should be coming up soon... I am just waiting for it to become available because its already fallen into my lap. I don't even gotta try to get it. Its mine as soon as the other guy is gone... Oh how I can't wait for a full time job just buffing and waxing floors everyday. lol No more shit jobs for me after that. :)
Opps, I guess this has kinda turned into a complaining thread. lol Lets not get my awesome performance thread all cluttered up with things about our jobs.

Well, I finally have a bit of an update here guys. lol
So anyways, things have been moving along rather slowly since I've been working so much more. But things are finally on a pretty good roll again here... The last two nights here my friend and I welded the strut towers back together again. FINALLY... lol
Now I'm gonna grind the welds down a little and fill any low spots with filler and paint up the motor bay. I can't believe how good of a job he did on it. Everything is almost the exact contour as the factory struts. It should look nice when its all done.
Hopefully Friday my motor will finally be taken to get machined so that it can be assembled and put back in the car by the end of November here. In the meantime I'll be undercoating the car and sound deadning the whole interior.
Here's a few pictures of how the strut towers turned out right after the weld job.
http://www.threadlinedesigns.com/talon/43.jpg
http://www.threadlinedesigns.com/talon/44.jpg
The next thing I need to do is finish dying the dash black and recovering my headliner with black cloth. I am also running the wires for my AFC to the sunvisor while the headliner is apart. That is also coming along quite nicely. :)
I might have more pictures this weekend, cause I know everybody loves pictures! lol

Well, I took the motor and everything to my buddies place today and my machine work will be started here next week. :)
Also, due to the fact that there was no compression in the one cylinder, I figured it had bent valves. I was gonna just wait and see if that was the problem before buying new ones but instead picked up a set of 1mm oversized stainless valves for 100 bucks. So it looks like the head is gettin done up a bit more than I expected it to. lol
On top of this... I know I know, I'm going overboard again here...
My one other buddy is putting his Talon back to stock and I might possibly be getting his MSD HO2 ignition and his Coil on plug setup... Sooo... Yeah... I must be an idiot here...

I know a guy who's running those COP's and he loves them. He said it made such a difference because he was having trouble with getting all his spark to the plugs. And with those OS vavles, I usually suggest against them, but since you got them for $100, I say put those bitches in and bend the hell out of them!! Haha.

lol Why do you advise against them? Just because of the money-power gain ratio? I wasn't gonna do anything like this but the guy was like how about 100 bucks and I jumped all over it. lol

Because if you get the head decked and jump one tooth, you'll bend the valves. On a stock setup, if you're off one tooth, you most likely won't bend anything, but with the OS valves, there's that much less of a clearance between the piston and valves. That's why  :)

Ahh, ok... That kinda sucks. But with everything be replaced with brand new parts, I think I should be ok for jumping my timing. Unless something tragic happens... :uhoh:
