That's the sexiest version of the most beautiful car ever made that I've seen yet! Actually it isn't, the REALLY sexy ones had the square steering wheels.

OK I'll stop. And go have a stroll of the Internet to find out what Marks car is.

hehe.....
trust it to me to get right.

give me a little while to get my image up.
first off, it's any distinctive feature right?

oh.. and before i post, how obscure can i be?
would it fair for me to post something from let's say a one off limited special commision car that only 9 people in the world have ever seen?

haha, no!

And the feature does have to be distinctive to a certain extent.

drunken monkey
05-13-2005, 08:49 AM
ok here goes.....

this is going to be either incredibly easy or incredibly hard; it really is a case of either you know it, or you don't.
because of the nature of the car, i think i can only accept SPECIFIC answers......

I haven't got the foggiest.

drunken monkey
05-13-2005, 05:20 PM
it's the rear arch of the car.
the silver bit is the 'handle'/opening mechanism.
the 'lump' is the distinctive' feature - it's actually a flap kinda thing.

hmm.... i hear the sound of people typing in "distinctive feature, flap, rare car" into google....

i'll give this a day or two before i post another pic of another detail.
if no one seems likely to get it, i'll post a different car......

jcsaleen
05-13-2005, 05:39 PM
When you say rear flap an the way it looks an that silver porsche boxter comes to mind. Old boxter that is.

ThatRoundHeadedKid
05-13-2005, 06:03 PM
I think we're making these too hard lol

drunken monkey
05-13-2005, 06:59 PM
yeah.. but the harder it is, the more satisfaction there is in getting it...

in responce to the one guess.
nope, it's not the 550 (if that is what you're talking about). key thing being, the 550 didn't have any glasswork except that barely-there wind deflector, whereas if you look to the top right of the image, you'd clearly see glass with chromed trim.

Heep
05-14-2005, 09:03 AM
I'm going to have to say Ferrari 250MM Berlinetta, but I'm not positive.........

drunken monkey
05-14-2005, 10:26 AM
not the 250 MM berlinetta

slightly different door opening latch
and the flap on the 250 doesn't become the wheel arch a it does on this car.
also, if you look at the chrome trim, you'd see that the roof of the car (from the colour of the b pillar) is white.....

but you are very very close.......
it's a case of details now!

Jimster
05-14-2005, 10:29 AM
Is it a 1995 Nissan Almera??

:p

Heep
05-14-2005, 10:51 AM
Actually my research has shown about halfish of the 250MM's had those small door "handles", and at least one had the larger flap ;)

However, that car must be #0346M, 166MM/53 Berlinetta PF, RHD.

This one.

unless the distinctive feature is that dent... (ouch)

hey, y'know what?
i never knew they did a 2.0 litre version of that car (the pic you give is a 208 GT4).
i'm guessing it's in the same vein of the later 208 gtb/gts cars (italy/europe only).

Porsche
05-15-2005, 01:21 PM
Damn, thought it'd be harder. The correct answer was posted by Menu, it's a 208 GT4.

208/308..... mere details.....

Mere liters more like it! Well, one actually.

Also keep in mind folks with that last one, try to keep things mainstream, it might make them easier, but I'd rather have that than hours of search for a one off.

drunken monkey
05-15-2005, 04:27 PM
er.... i think you'll find that the 308 gt4 was the mainstream model.

anyway, i think that it's obscurity more than number of cars made.
i mean, i think everyone here will recognise an XK-SS or a 250 GTO or a DB4 GT Z even though none of them are mainstream models.

ThatRoundHeadedKid
05-15-2005, 04:39 PM
ok Enough arguing. drunken monkey called it first so I think he should go next. One of the key rules here is to keep it general and mainstream, and non-specific. engines really don't mattter, here, just distinctive exterior or interior features.

In this case, you should've said 208/308 GT4.

But if another case like this was to come around, like if someone posts a pic of an E38 BMW 7-Series headlight, then just say BMW E38 7-Series. It doesn't matter if they said 740i when it was actually a 750iL, the key point was that they touched on what car the picture is of in general.

GritMaster

We'll say interiors are allowed.

http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/30575Matra2.jpg

Matra-Simca Bagheera, the 3 seats were a giveaway.

BTW, drunkenmonkey, by mainstream, I meant cars that saw actual production numbers, not a one off Ferrari from the 50's, it's just too hard.

Next up, I had to hide most of this again, I have a feeling somebody will know it right away, but oh well.
