Looks like an Audi Quattro or maybe even a VW Scirocco, but I think the Vdub had indicators on the sides.

As a clue, I'll say that the car was built with a back bone chassis so the maker had studied Colin Chapman's Lotus cars well. It used a double unequal wishbone front and back.
Carroll Shelby was called in to help promote the car and it featured in a famous British film but still didn't help the car sell.
