More updates again, this week the doors were assembled and mounted, door mirrors were fixed on, panel lines were applied, Windows painted black using custom made masks from vinyl sheet, light inserts were painted sliver.
Time to start work on the chassis now I think.

Thanks

I love the color of the valve cover. What color is that? is it airbrushed?

skypie
10-11-2004, 03:12 AM
Overall, You got it made bro!
I thinking of you doing an all blue theme...
like the N1 RB26(Blue)
but since you're keeping the bay blue, red makes it stand out more.

Idunno abt the hood tho... but its pretty cool.
hmm... maybe you cud find a way to do that effect on a painted cf hood... visible cf patterns over paint? O_o =/

Keep it up man!

I would paint an N1 the off-champagne color it's supposed to be. There would be no way to distinguish it from a standard RB26 in scale modeling if the valve cover is blue. The differences (between std. RB26 and N1) are mostly internal and since Steve has a different turbo I don't see painting an RB26 valve cover blue and calling it N1. Taking someones word for it, if you will.

This is the specific reason why Steve painted the valve cover Ruby; to visually show an R34 RB26 swap.

Managed to get some 1:12 scale Carbon Fibre Decal sheets sent over (3 days delivery from the US to UK) from those guys at http://www.scalemotorsport.com/

I used 2 parts and blended them together and it looks great now, no seam showing at all. :lol2:
Batteries are out in the Digi-cam so I'll post some pics very soon.

Well, no amount of "cool", "wicked bro", and assorted quick slang can do justice to the awe I think we are all feeling when we view the latest uploaded pics.

To be honest, I cannot find an adjective that even comes close to capturing the complete and utter amazement, not to say, admiration I am feeling as each piece is meticulously machined, painted and carefully constructed.

We are not looking at a model here, but something closer to a museum piece in its intricacy, accuracy, and good old fashioned attention to detail through what is undoubtedly superior craftsmanship.

It is humbling just to view these photos, and then Steve comes along and blows everyone away with his machined brake discs.

I am....speechless.

Not as many as I'd like, about 2-3 hours at best week nights, but maybe 4-5 on Sat and Sundays.
Thanks as always for viewing, Guys

Wow, looks so convincing it even fooled the camera into making that weird distortion that happens when you try to take pictures of woven carbon fiber. Super hot! This whole model is kickin' butt and taking names.

Oh yeah:
Hi, my name is Willi Mo and that's actually my model....

Just kidding! (Don't ban me.)

Thanks, I'm not sure it depends what free time I have for it.
Last night was painting the front and rear drive shafts.
But I still have so much to do.
Tonight I plan to scratch build an alternator, but we'll see.

AstroRide44
10-14-2004, 05:00 PM
i think a alternator could be the hardest thing to detail, so many little holes and all the little wires inside, it would be totally crazy. what does the one from the kit look like?

This is the result of todays works a new Alternator and Pulleys all scratch built. I know the Alternator is not perfect but you never really see when the engine is installed in the car.

The top photo shows the supplied Pulley, Belt and Alternator assembly

Thanks as always for looking

Dont's paint over the those beautiful pulleys!

So where are all the 1/12 scale bolt heads and fittings like on Scale Master's Super 7? :evillol:
