Hand crafted as I can find PE stuff,so I'm doing it myself for now.

Wow, simply amazing. I have a lot of work ahead of me if I want my hot rod to run with yours.

How much was your lathe?

Can anyone help me out with a few thinks on this build ?
What I'm after is :
Diagram for the piping for the Oil cooler, so I can get it right.
Any photos of the Fan Belt/Fan - Altenator Belts, I'm sure it has 3 off belts, not quite sure where they go and what they do.
but photos are hard to find, this is all I have.

Beatiful, that's something my dad could do, if he cared for cars anymore, I definitely couldn't..

Great Job!! I don't care for that aggresive veilside kit, but I guess you could always Machine a front bumper..lol.

I love it! Keep us updated!

Imagine the amount of money tamiya would make by producing a 1:12 scale R34... *drools*

Now THAT is what I call scratchbuilding!!
Is the strut (bar) metal as well? The shock tower mount/cups looks brilliant!
Speechless on the shocks/springs.
You went through all the trouble of duplicating the drive-axles it would be a shame to paint the CV boots rubber :grinno:
Fascinating work Steve, the BEST SCRATCHBUILT modeling I've seen here so far! keep it up!

I just read the entire thread over...didnt see it. I saw weight, and thats about it.
no you didn't....
"The Lathe was 435 Pounds and the Milling Machine 282 Pounds" which is about 800 US dollars for the Lathe and 500 US dollars for the Milling Machine (Pounds as United Kingdom Pounds).

Maybe you did see this but referred "pounds" to weight...

Quite simply, this 1:12 creation would have to be the best GT-R related model in any scale and in any format I have ever seen.
I have sat in awe of the fussy attention to detail, the painful fabrication of parts, and the genuine care that has gone into putting this masterpiece together. I don't think words can do this project justice, and it is not even finished yet!
I too don't care too much for the Veilside kit, as I believe that the original body shape has just the right amount of aggression tempered with conservatism. But the car is going to be something incredibly special.
Thankyou for sharing its build-process with us.

willimo

Great machined parts. Truly incredible. It really is going to be a shame to paint all those great turned parts. Amazing.

Coming along nicely. Where did you get the springs from?
Well, that's a story I was going to order from http://www.leespring.co.uk/
They have every possible size of spring you could want, but they have a £20 min order so, in the end, the company we use at work for all Nuts, bolts and fixing got them (4 off) from his supplier as samples (free).
But as I have ordered another 1:12 Skyline (R32 NISMO S TUNE (http://hobbyworld.aoshima-bk.co.jp/scripts/hw/seeke.aspx?seek_code=FUJ14119)) I may have to get some more.
Really might have to do the PE Parts set for this kit :evillol:

freelunch
08-13-2004, 02:21 AM
When the Nismo S-Tune Skyline arrives could you please take some good pictures of the contents and maybe the instruction manual? I'm really interested in this kit, but i'm hesitant to put down $200 for it.

I wish they had a hayes manual for the skyline that would help alot...

Try bentley publications maybe they will have something on the skyline...

08-15-2004, 08:53 PM
as usual there are no words that I can type to express how utterly amazed I am by your work. The parts you made look great on the car, nothing looks off scale or fake, they look like real, miniature, performance parts!

I think if you want a bodykit for this bad boy it should be a one-off Steve custom. Not the dated veilside kit. just my 2 cents :D

do you still need reference or has that been covered sufficiently? :dunno:

Commonly known as an endlink. Connects between the end of the sway bar and the control arm. Couldn't find a decent ebough picture on google, so here are a few crappy ones. If I was at home, I'd take a picture of my car and add a pretty red arrow. Oh well.

hiroboy, i'm just so excited by this project i really am i've been a huge fan of your work and i always go to your website when i need inspiration, so i'm going to spen all the money i have an i'm going to buy this kit (er.....where do you get it ?) and i wont touch it until i've got my self a lathe and milling machine ! things like the drive shafts and suspension shochs are just absolutely amazing i really am impressed. so my current project (option magazine 350z) will just have to go on hold for the time being.

Great droplinks! Didn't mean to make more work for you, but I thought it might look silly to have the swaybar just flaoting in space like that. This model is going to be great, such fidelity to the real thing and such great skill in making it come out that way. Top notch.
