No :nono:
I quoted myself as to say "hey, this is what was orinally posted" Quite dissapointing, even went to bed with jsut a minor buzz :(
Although, the true celebration will be on Thursday night (Friday morning actually), when I get my night out for dinner and concert til 5am.
My kid got to have his choice last night as to where he wanted to go, I still got a dinner out of it and some frosty schooners, few beers when I got home, but no big festivity yet :evillol:
Funny part was the dorks at the restuarant were tole like 3 times we had 2 birthdays at the table, so they did their little song and dance fo rthe kid, while I pelted him in the head with beer nuts :icon16: and then asked them if I was chopped liver 'cause their ass-clown selves left me out of the fun. :dunno:

How long does it take for muscles to fully recover after a workout? I've been running a lot this summer and my calves have been sore the last few runs, so I quit all my activities for 3 days to give my muscles time to recoop. I worked out and went for a run today, first time in 3 days, and my calves were still bothering me during the run. I stretch before every run, so I don't think I pulled them, just mid-run, they start bothering me.

takes ~48 hours. but if you overwork them or whatever they'll hurt and it'll take longer for them to recover. probably too much lactic acid in them that's making it hurt.

Well, it used to be the fronts for a few jogs, but the last 2 times, it has been the backs. Its not a killer pain or anything, it just feels like they haven't rested enough.

I don't think its the lactic acid. That's partly why I run after I work out, an aerobic jog will help flow blood through the muscles and break up the lactic acid that has built up. I used to get it in my arm all the time in baseball after I pitched a game.

alright, because if it was the front you could have shin splints and those take FOREVER to get rid of... If you over work the muscles I usually give them untill they don't hurt anymore before I use them again... they make supliments that are called muscle aid and they are supposed to restore them faster....might wanna look into that
cuda_dude

If i remember right, maleic acid helps restore your muscles
poormillionaire2
06-06-2007, 06:05 PM
Well, they didn't hurt until I started jogging the last few times. About 3 minutes into my run, my calves started to get sore. I just run through the pain until the hour is up. They don't hurt when I'm not running though.

for muscles to recover from a workout (as in weight training where you're tearing your muscle fibers) they suggest 48-72hrs. if you injure yourself it can take alot longer. do you stretch after you jog? try stretching, if that doesn't help, try taking a break from jogging, maybe go for a bike ride instead, until they stop hurting.
it doesn't really take any time to recover from cardio, just the time it takes to regain their strength and restore their glycogen stores, and even that isn't really required. for rowing we'd have two practices per day, we'd do heavy stuff (starts, intervals, etc) or we'd do long distances (rowing for over an hour, steady state), it never bothered us. the only thing that bothered me was my lower back, i didn't stretch it out afterwards and it was a bit weak so it got so tight it was difficult to breathe while rowing (didn't let anyone else know, i'm not letting them fucking stop me) but that went away as soon as i stoped rowing during the summer or took a few days off.
anyways, if you don't stretch, DO IT. stretch your calves for 20-30 seconds each. every coach i've had and every article i've read sais the MINIMUM should be 20-25 seconds per muscle. they could just be really tense and need a stretch. and aren't shin splints usually in the front of the shin? and i didn't know that they ever went away, just that you can make them better. my first rowing coach (he was on the national team, went to 2 world championships, the oldest guy and the fastest guy in the crew lol, 29 years old.) he used to be a long distance runner until he got shin splints and microfractures that were so bad he had to stop competing.

yeah, shin splints are on the front of the leg.... they go away but it takes forever because every time you re-stretch that muscle it tears it away from the bone again and it has to start all over.... so pretty much just by walking on it you can re-tear it from the bone... I had them one summer and it was the biggest pain in the ass to get rid of... it probably took over 6 months atleast untill they finally went away

Yeah, I'll start post-stretching. I actually just read a small article on that today on the net. Ironic.

I have horrible problems with my shin splints... Wearing worn out shoes don't help either... Sometimes if I wrap my legs before I go to work I'm alright with them. Some days though... Uh... They can just be killer. Especially when I walk an average of 10 miles a night at work. :(

it's not that i hate rain, i don't mind it (other than the stupid drivers who don't know how to drive in the rain or snow, fuck i hate them) but it's just that i missed two days of work, and lost money because of it. it also makes cutting grass (a big part of my job) alot more difficult and frustrating.
and by the way this day just keeps getting worse. i can't wait until it's over

What's some good pranks to do on vehicles that don't cause damage? Long story...but...it was my friend's birthday today and some people from work decorated the exterior of his SUV with balloons and stuff. They also did the same thing to my truck on my birthday a month ago. So, we want revenge. So far, we are going to TP their van, then wrap it in saran wrap, and then put it up on jack stands and take off all four of their tires. :) Oh, we're also going to load up the inside with boxes and put their tires in the front seats. (They usually leave their vehicle unlocked). Anyone else have anything else to add? Should be fun...I'll post pics later after we do it.
