i'll be driving with fuel economy in mind, i have no need to go fast on the trip. the point is to see places and travel around. takes some of the fun away if i rush it. besides, i don't want any tickets or anything.
locking bed cover should give me a tiny tiny tiny fuel milage increase without air catching the tailgate. (althogh the weight won't give better fuel economy)
hehe! i'm so looking forward to this. i'll actually work 70 hour weeks for this if it means i can do it. it's going to be awesome. definitely trip of a lifetime. i'm also planning to do a european trip if i can. it'll go from london to france and then all through europe. maybe if i have enough money i'll drive through Russia and Alaska and into the states at the end. that would be cool..

i'm thinking of having the truck shipped over here for a bit after the trip.
i'd love to drive a big diesel F-250 around london. the "big" pickups we get in europe are like Ranger and F-150 size.

i went to sleep at 5am on my mate's floor (after going to the pub and getting baked) woke up at 8:55am. got on the train, missed my stop. waited 10 mins for a train going back to my station. walked uphill for 40 mins in the rain. got shouted at for not going to college. got changed and walked 30 mins downhill back to the station. got on a train, went to college for a bit. got on a bus, got on a train and walked 20 mins home from that train station.
it sucked.

they're not all that small. an F-250 will fit in all our streets. there'll just be less room.

try and apply for places that arent on a transit line...i realized(realised..haha) that back in high school. when a job isnt on a main public transit route, its harder for people without cars to get to it, therefore more job openings

yes, but in london you can get ANYWHERE without a car.
between the buses, overground rail and underground trains, you can get anywhere. might involve 15 mins of walking, but you can get anywhere without a car. TFL has it all covered.
(TFL = Transport For London)
and i don't have a car.

a stock lightning could probably take like 14-16psi before you ran into any issues. but if you were doing that i'd advise other upgrades for things like fuelling. (more air needs more fuel. and a custom tune takes care of any issues)
the straight six(es) were engines i built with friends for various racing things. (low-end racing) so i never actually owned one. just liked the name for AF.
i could have a car, but i really have no need for one here. i can get anywhere by public transport (which is hugely popular over here) and i'm not bothered to pay for fuel and that crap. besides, i'd rather get the money from my parents and put it toward a truck in the US than have a car here. (my parents paid for my sister's car)

so learn about them, get you some tools and go get a cheap junkyard 350 and pull it apart.
i learned most of what i know from reading on the net. i don't know everything there is to know about cars and engines, but i know a lot. and 95% of that is from reading on the net/AF/books. i wasn't even going out to learn about stuff, i was just reading topics on here, reading books about stuff that interests me, talking to people in the business.
of course, having friends who built race cars for a living does help. but i've learned more by my own means than from them.

the thing is...i know about it...the mechanics of it..but if i looked at it, it just seems sooo complicated....i know they are all basically the same and what not, just dont know what to do...i also have noo idea about cams those numbers just go right over my head...o yea and tires too....also suspension...i dont know the difference between a shock and a strut...on my cars i would probably never adjust the suspension at all. i dont see the need because it wont make the car go faster

they look complicated, but they're not when you know how it all works.
i know what you mean about the confusing numbers on cams and tyres and stuff. i'm still learning about the cams and degrees, duration, vavle overlap etc.. it's all part of the learning process.
if you get a cheap engine you're not worried about, pull it apart and look at it or take pictures as you take it apart. you'll see it's easier than you think.
oh, and suspension upgrades do make cars go faster. they don't add power, but they let you hook up better, take corners better and give help put the power to the ground.

arent new engine all weird now...like i could PROBABLY pick apart an old 1970 350...but these day..i looked at my ma's 3.5L charger and saw like this big plastic piece over the top..didnt look like an intake manifold, couldnt really make out anything except the air filter...these days, engines just dont look like engines anymore

that's just the plastic cover on top.
remember, the industry doesn't want you to fix your car. they want you to pay someone to do it. it's all about self preservation. it's great for me when someone doesn't know jack about their car, because they can pay me to fix it. but if everyone knew all about their cars, i'd be made redundant.
so start off small, get an old carb'd 350 and pull it apart. when you've mastered the simple engines, move on to injected engines and so on.

i just like giving presents and stuff, giving and seeing someone grateful is far better to me than being given stuff. (and i like wrapping presents.)
that's probably why i never have any money.
