I played with the hues and colors and such...
I think it looks like a 6 speed, like it has a boot and what looks to be the edge of a clutch pedal..:dunno:

That ws6 is a 6 speed, you can tell by the shifter handle.

Jim, you survived tax season? I thought I heard some foul language from your area when I went to Florida in March...

Well guys, I am finally 21. But the bad news is that I have 3 finals this morning. It sucks. The other bad news is that I still haven't found a car. Well, I did, but its an auto. It a SOM WS6 and its local here in St. Louis, and my friend is trying to convince me to get it and swap in a 6 speed. I just don't have the funds for a car AND a tranny swap. Plus, I think its more involved than he really thinks.

Jim, you survived tax season? I thought I heard some foul language from your area when I went to Florida in March...

I haven't invented a word foul enough to convey how I feel for the tax system in our country. AND unfortunately, the school system in our country is in such a state that I can't rely on anyone else for such a burden. One of these days I'll figure it out and when I do I'll post a thread up about it. (Mods will probably kill it though. Even though it will be a brand new word, lol.)

This thread still hasn't hit 10k yet............ :disappoin  . Hows it goin fellas? Woman at work offered me her 95 Z28 6spd but the car has 160k on it (motor rebuilt 4-5 years ago) and was hit in the side and fixed but still needs paint. Will have to see what she wants for it. I probably won't get it unless its under 2 grand or something like that.

3 days and not even a new page of posts. This place really is dwindling...but I'm done with finals, thank God. So far, did pretty good on the ones that have been graded so far. However, I start summer school Monday, so no break for me. Its only for 4 weeks though. Got my first tattoo yesterday. Its my last name down my right tricept. Later, I am going to get my Korean name in Korean down my left tricept. Should be sweet. Well, maybe I'll stop by in a few days.

Wow. 14 posts in 6 days. I think everyone took it too seriously when told to get a life. As for me, life has gotten in the way somewhat, baby is 6 months old now, and with summer almost here means the water is warming back up and we plan on diving alot more. And Jim, please do tell what that new word you are inventing is. Should be interesting.

Ok, here's a little story to get some talking going....

I took my truck to a Shop to get the intake manifold gasket replaced... also told them that the rear drums they worked on a while back had vibration and it was probably a warped/damaged drum. They say its all done and my dad picks it up... The truck is ticking and missing like hell and the brakes are the same. They said they replaced the front rotors (which only had like 1k on them) and fixed the intake gasket... but the truck ran like shit so why would you say it's fixed... took it back and they put a new oil pump and 2 lifters in ... they said antifreeze got into the oil and shot the oil pump (which still had perfect pressure and I've never heard of happening) and damaged a couple of lifters... so I get the truck back again and it's still ticking (sounds like a bad lifter) and the brakes are still shit..... call them and tell them and tell them nicely that there is still a problem and they say "we don't want your pile of crap back or any of your other cars and just don't pay the 2nd bill" so im like wtf.... they can't fix a simple problem so they say get the hell out of here? lol.... took the truck to midas to fix the brakes and they said the new fronts they installed (which it didnt need) weren't installed right and they even had kinked a brake line...the rear drums were cracked and warped from them replacing the pads and yet they didn't repare the drums originally? hmm..... anywho... I'm not ever going back to this shop and I figure I shouldn't even pay them for anything since they didn't fix a damn thing and refused to finish the job...

Genopsyde
05-12-2008, 02:28 PM
what I'm not understanding, marcus, is why you even took it to a shop to do something that I know you are more than capeable of doing yourself.

skibum1111
05-12-2008, 06:09 PM
I had brakes done once for inspection, when I went back the next year they told me it needed new rear brakes (the ones they replaced) since they were installed backwards. Showed them the receipt, they replaced them no charge. How come more shops don't stand behind their work?

Blackcrow64
05-12-2008, 06:21 PM
And that is exactly why I will never take my car to a shop again cuda. lol... I had a guy put a tranny in for me years ago and he put the wrong fluid in it and the tranny took a shit 6 months later while I was going down the road... No shops for me ever again after that incident.

cuda_dude
05-13-2008, 12:03 AM
I took the truck to the shop because I don't have the time right now to do the work myself... otherwise I'd love to do it. I took it to the shop that we take our work trucks to... but not anymore... I thought it was a good shop but was I ever wrong...

Blackcrow64

If the cost to fix it is MORE than their bills I'd take them to small claims court to make it right. Sue them for the difference, that's why those courts exist.

Then I'd take them outside and beat the shit out of them just for the inconvenience of f'ing up my stuff.

Earlsfat
05-13-2008, 08:47 AM
And that is why I will not let ANYONE work on RD... (not even my buddies unless I'm standing next to them.)

Pricks... Oh you know how to start a car??? Go hang out your shingle and be a mechanaprick... anyone can do that! I'm still waiting to cross the dipshit that jammed the steering wheel on my 70, which is no stuck on there so bad I am going to have to replace the entire column.

I need to go take a walk now...

cuda_dude
05-13-2008, 01:41 PM
Well see I'm just not paying them. All I have to do is call the credit card company and tell them I didn't get what I paid for and they will refund my money... and then if the shop has a problem with it they will have to come after me. They didn't do a damn thing to fix the problem they just took things off and put them back on and replaced parts I didn't tell them to... It's like if you're a doctor and you're supposed to put a guys finger back on but you just take it out of the baggie and wash it off and then put it back in the baggie and say it's fixed... wtf good did that do...

Only kidding. Some good wrenchers will do the right thing. I have a current situation with a taurus and it's transmission. The trans shop said there is a problem with the trans and rebuilt it. The problem it went in 4 did not go away. He has taken it back several times and replaced the trans twice with different units. Same result. He has the car right now again actually. He has never been anything but nice, confused as to why this is happening, but always says "bring it back and we'll try again."

Auto mechanics will always be a shady business. Particularly to those who don't know a damn thing about vehicles. We are all fortunate enough to have enough knowledge and experience to at least tell when a shop is BS'ing us. A lot of people don't have that luxury and have to go off what the shop tells them. Its sad really.

cuda_dude
05-14-2008, 12:45 AM
So now the story is that the original shop didn't replace the 2 lifters they said they did and instead just cranked them down over specs to make the tick go away for a bit... they put in a new high output oil pump because the heads hadn't been getting oil... they thought if they bumped up the pressure they could get some oil up there... so wtf... they don't tell me that my engine is not getting lubrication to the heads and just say get the heck out of here?? So now I'm stuck with a probable bad camshaft bearing... so it looks like I might be doing the work myself after all...

Thats nothing. Want to talk about some real shady mechanic work? My boss at the ice rink i used to work at, took his camaro to a shop to have some repair work done. We he didn't know anything about cars, so of course the shop tried to rip him off. When he got the car back it was running worse than it was before. Well he took it back and the shop said it was a different problem than the one before and so they would charge him again. Well he said this is rediculous it wasn't doing this before... Well he opened the hood to see if he could figure out what was wrong, and he found an arrow drawn on the distributor with a wax pencil pointing to two wires.

The mechanic actually switched the wires and drew an arrow so he would instantly be able to switch them back when he brought the car back. After putting the wires back on where they belong the car ran fine.

The better business bureau doesn't actually do anything. All they do is call the company and tell them someone complained about them.

I've found word of mouth advertising is often the best. And if it's word of shoddy work done that hurts them even more. Do a good job and they will tell a friend, do a lousy job and they tell ten.

This place is getting worse exponentially. A single page of posts over a course of 5 days. I don't know what to say (and apparently, neither does everyone else). Well, went to a carshow this weekend. It was Thurs. thru Sun. but I was only able to go Fri and Sun. My friend put his car in the show, but didn't win. They also had drag racing going on at the same time. It was an incredible experience. I loved it. It was sponsored by Fast Fords & Mustand Muscle. So many damn cobras it wasn't even funny. Over 50% of the mustangs there (and there were A LOT) seemed to be a Cobra of some sort. One guy even had a new SnakeEater cobra. So many terminators and such that I got worn out of them, and they are some sweet machines. Not too many GM's showed up. A few C5 vettes, a few LS2 GTO's, and an 04 GTO with an STS turbo. Awesome experience nonetheless.

OOOOHHHHHHHHHH, Take that.

LMAO - Very funny mental image with a Jim Carey style head snap...

Marcus - Sorry to hear all that, but I agree, I would (EDIT: NOT, oops) pay those bastards a cent. They kinda helped the problems progress.

Stepho... F the BBB, they don't do ANYTHING. That guys needs some LSE - Louisville Slugger Equalization. I would have STOMPED that prick.

ON A HAPPY NOTE - RD is getting there... finished installing sub-frame connectors last night (wanna talk about a total BITCH?), drilled and tapped shifter for reverse light switch, carb is set up... just need to get my 6AL back from MSD (fried it somehow) and reinstall the shifter and reverse swich wiring and get the whole mess inspected. The ONLY thing I need after that is a speedo cable, which is a custom order item because Autometer in their infinite wisdom found it unnessecary to sell the required component to make their product work. :eek7:

Oh and if anyone happens to find a 3rd generation (fox body) Mustang with a TRUNK / no hatchback that has rear 3-point seat belts... in black... lemme know. Ebay is a no go, boneyards are dry, and I'm getting desparate... for seat belts that is.

Whatever years have the fat part mounted up on the package tray. I don't have any pictures to show you what I'm looking for, but apparently a specific version of mustang seat belts will fit the rear of a 2gen camaro. I was told 3gen mustang non hatchback, where the winder or whatever it's called mounts on tha package tray. Someguy is probably laughing his ass off somplace watching me try to find something that doesn't exist, lol.

Speaking of bad repair work, we took the carb from our 67 in to a local shop to have it rebuilt. We got it back, popped it on, and when we finally got the damn thing to start, the carb started leaking fuel out all over the intake manifold. We took the thing apart, and it was full of brass. We took it back in and had them do it again(on our dime, they wouldn't back up their work). Got it back, put it on again, same shit. Took it apart and there was still brass in there. So we said fuck it, got a rebuild kit, and did it ourselves, and never had a problem again after that.
