Well, I already mentioned my new phone. That was the majority of it. But it plays MP3's, camera with a swivel lens, video/sound recording capabilities, blue tooth, 3G, etc...with accessories.
Got a few gag gifts, a new bowling bag, some gas gift cards, and some cash. But having the day off and sleeping til 2pm was good enough for me.
Plus, my dad just smuggled me down a beer. No one in my family drinks, almost at all, so its a very rare treat.
Hope everyone had a good and safe Christmas. But I will be going back to work tomorrow.
I would also like to extend a Merry Christmas and a HUGE thanks to all the troops overseas and the ones who could not be with family and loved ones. They are the ones who really deserve a good Christmas/holiday.

Initially I had wanted a Glock .40 because that's what ISP had carried. They had a lot of issues with failure to fire .40's so they went back to the 9mm. ISP didn't want to go with the .45 because of the smaller troopers, fearing they couldn't handle them as easily as a .40 or 9mm.

Its not like you'll really be able to use a gun as a trooper. They have so many 'alternative' weapons that pistols are hardly used anymore. It pisses me off. There are some people and some situations where a couple of bullets are much needed. No mace, no tasers, no water hoses, no bean bag shotguns, just good ol' fashion firearms. Maybe I just watch too much Cops and World's Wildest Police Videos, but some criminals just need to be eliminated and made examples of.
666_speed
12-26-2006, 12:25 PM
I know it's most likely that I'll never use a firearm but should the situation present itself I would like the added peace of mind that my weapon will protect myself or another. I cannot stress enough how I hope that situation never presents itself but you had better believe that if it does, I will be prepared to defend myself (if my gun works).

Carry a gun with as much knock down power as they will legally let you carry. People who are on drugs and crazy dont even notice small bullets at first unless the shot is deadly.

I've watched hours of training videos. The one that I remember the most was a South Carolina trooper making a traffic stop on a big drug highway. Everything seemed normal, the driver consented to a search of his vehicle. All of a sudden he knocked down the officer and shot him in the chest with a .22. The officer fired 5 rounds from his .357 into his chest and the guy fell down. He leaned up and fired one shot hitting the officer on the underside of his arm and the bullet went right through his heart. The dash cam caught the whole incident and the officer dying. The shooter survived the 5 shots in the chest.

And that's when dumbass people declare police brutality. They see the police billy clubbin' some guy because he's hopped up on something and has the unnatural strength of 5 men, but the general public ignores this fact and blames the cop when the suspect is dead. Its ridiculous! Just like Rodney King...
People just need to let cops do their job and stay out of it. What do civilians know of police matters? As civilians, I think we need to give cops a certain respect to do what is neccessary, not what we perceive as right or wrong. That's why, in general, I respect MOST police officers and what they have to put up with. Its enough they have to deal with potentially dangerous people on the job, but worrying about people, who know nothing about it, judging their actions is crap. Ok, I'm done.

Seriously, I worked with the cops for a few years and the stories one hears is unbelievable. True the majority are good honest cops, but man there are some that just do not need to be put in an authoritive state with a weapon (any weapon) whatsoever. Its hood mirrors which take care of the blind spots. Its provides four benefits. 1-Takes care of the blind spots, 2-Makes it easier to get really close to the curb so my disable family member can hop into the vehicle without a stepping stool, 3-Folks slow down around me thinking I am a cop car thereby avoiding being hit. 4-They look pretty damn cool especially since I am one of 4 folks on the east coast that haas them and the only one in the metro NYC area with them.
As for the three days (now 2 days away), no its not only the New Years eve, but... um.... (cough) someones birthday (cough) that I will not dare speak their name (cough) numbnuts (cough) is approaching.
