I say my dream is over, because my only chance of getting a VR4 with the specs I wanted just walked. It was about a 15 minute drive from me, and had under 100k miles on it and the price was close if not right. I've searched the net for other ones, and the closest one is a vr4 with a rebuilt engine, which makes me kind of nervous as he has it running around 500 hp (Going to this point on an engine scares me as it makes it less of a daily driver). I wanted a stock one so that I could do the mods and be able to tell when the engine was getting iffy and then adjust accordingly. That, and I only wanted to get it into the high 12 second 1/4 range, as the mods were cheap and easy. I dunno, I'm still very in love with these cars, but I would need it to be my daily driver and thus be lower miles. Oh, and it has to be a first gen or my insurance won't cover me lol.

Thourun
10-06-2004, 02:42 AM
Awww sory to hear that. How long do you have to wait for a good one to show up? Keep browing the want ads and check autotrader frequently and there will be more VR4s to be had, ohh and widen your search area I had to drive nearly 100 miles to get the SL I wanted.

One last thing... why won't your insurance cover a seond gen?

20 year old male wants a sports car
My driving record is clean and all that, my payments are quite reasonable. I dunno, but when I called to get a quote on that car's insurance, they said the only reason they were going to insure it was because it was an older car. So it probably has to be first-early 2nd gen

Migra ma man, dont give up. I wanted a VR-4 and had to settle on a base cause the little lady needed a car too. but I still believe that someday when the morgage is all paid off and my crecit cards are a zero balance I too will join the ranks of a VR-4 driver. oh and I much rather take a re-built motor over a stock with 100k on it! I've rebuilt lots of motors and they come out either stronger or just as good as stock.

Igovert500
10-06-2004, 10:59 AM
I had to drive 200 miles for my vr4, I wanted one since I was 15, and it didn't happen until I was 20, so don't give up that easily.

So this is about as off topic as possible. I need help/ suggestions on a dishwasher problem.
Essentially one of our housemates tried 2 wash the dishes while being hammered. Well we ran outta cascade, so apparently he thought dawn dishsoap(liquid stuff you use to wash by hand) would suffice and filled both of the 'cups' inside the dishwasher with the dawn liquid soap. Well he left, and turned it on...a little while later we have a kitchen full of foam. So we've mopped it all up, but I still can't get the dishwasher working right 2 days later. I put it on heated dry 2x yesterday, and I then left the door open for a few hours. There is still about 2-3 inches of water just sitting in there, not draining out. If I turn the dishwasher on, it just turns all into foam again. I can't figure out how to just make it drain this water. Any ideas? I was literally using a pot and just bailing it out, but that got real old...real quick.

Use a siphon, get some tubing thats between a .5-1" and submerge it in water then block both ends so the water is trapped inside the tube then put one side into where the water is deepest in the washer and the other end in a bucket that is as low as possible (must be lower than the end of the end od the hose in the dish washer, Then see if somethings blocking the drian, better yet do that first :).

you have a clog for sure Igovert! but I guess you cant just drop Liquid Plumber in there huh? what about calling Sears and telling them you bought the machine from them and need tech help?

Hey if anyone is interested the discovery channel will be giving two specials on the X-price and the Space Shuttle One program that me and Thourun have been talking about. starts tonight around 7:00 p.m. but check your local listings to be sure!

YogsVR4
10-07-2004, 11:28 AM
Its also possible that the motor got full of soap and has stopped spinning (which performs the draining). Take the bottom panel off and make sure your roommate is sober if he's around, turn on the machine on a normal wash cycle and see if the fan blades of the motor are spinning. If not give them a little push (use a pen) and it might just free them up.

I know mine gets stuck if it goes a few months without use and perhaps the overflow of soap got mixed up in there. Before anyone laughs, we usually hand wash the dishes since its only my wife and I.

Hehe Yogs, we don't even have a dishwash at our apartment. LOL I guess it's pretty common for households to have one but we don't. So yeah, we've always done it the old way.

Musashi3000GT, you said that there were two specials airing...when's the other one? I have work tonight so I can't watch it. :( I don't know much about that stuff but it's always interesting.

I'm working at the computer lab at school. It's a pretty kick-back job in that I'm usually able to do homework and surf the net in here. But sometimes, these spoiled rich kids can get VERY annoying--complaining about having to have their IDs and not knowing how to open a document (they save a document under Works and try to open it in Word and get mad at me because it won't open - LOL). Oh, and sadly, we don't have a VCR. Hehe

Musashi3000GT, outta curiosity, how old are you? :)

10-07-2004, 10:26 PM
Ahhh! Why does it have to be on tonight! One of the only nights of the year when I don't have cable because I'm at home. Ohh well at least I get to drive my car for probably the last time before it's sold, and I get to drive it up to New Hampshire and cruse those windy roads in the fall color.

Okay, this is for the current college students and those with memories of college.....what do you guys eat??? Hehe 'Cause man, I'm so stinkin' broke that I usually eat top raman, cup o noodles, pizza, and burgers. :o/ Guys, tell me I'm not in this myself....please!?!

Thourun your selling the SL? are you ready for the VR-4 or are you gonna do one of em' transsitory periods where you lay in limbo for like a year before you get up and go "oh yeah, the VR-4!" dude tell me you have a plan!

Slade, buddy, your job dosent sound so bad! at least you get to surf around. I'm 24, I'll be 25 next June. and yeah when I was in college I was always broke. If it wassnt for the street racing I would of never had any spare money! I remember the first time I asked my wife out, I had like $20 and thoguht "oh crap, where am I gonna take her with $20, Taco Bell is not exactly first date material"
I used to survive on a diet of PB&J sandwiches, Dounugts, and government cheese!
The good news is that it will prepare you for the future when you have to deal with morgage and home expaenses and pay bills to the point that all you will have left over is $20!
The bad news is that situations like what I just mentioned will happen alot!

sLADe781
10-08-2004, 12:26 PM
Glad to hear it's normal. Musashi3000GT, I never thought about the situation now preparing me for the future...hmm...good insight. :) But happening a lot? Ouch...
But yeah, speaking of eating right, my friend came over last night wasted (not because of drinking too much but studying all day without eating). I asked him what he's doing for dinner and he said "I'll have a bag of popcorn." LOL Oh and this morning, I got up at 6:30 in the morning to go to a meeting...the incentive...a free breakfast. LOL

Musashi3000GT
10-08-2004, 12:48 PM
Well dont get scared my friend, I experience it alot cause I am overworked and underpayed but you might just get a good job working for generous company. if so then call me and hook it up! oh well, Thourun has really inspird me, instead of getting a bodykit and some more engine work I think I'll start saving up, maybe in two or three years I can get a VR-4.

Igovert500

Yea I have a plan, I only bought the SL since I didn't want to dig into my trust fund (yea yea I know little rich boy lol) because I wanted to be able to make enough money to pay back what I took out of the trust fund and then sell the car at the end of summer/during the school year and have twice as much as when I started at the beginning of the summer to pay for a VR4 and some minor mods (FIPK, Borla cat back, two setting MBC). Now I am trying to find a job on campus that pays more than minimum wage so I will be able to afford a second gen or a 93 with fewer miles on it. I have the luxury of not having to pay for much food seeing as though I have a meal plan and my parents are paying for college and living accomidations.

GritMaster
10-08-2004, 08:34 PM
Well I'm going to school at a tech college, Culinary arts is my major, And for 2 weeks out of the second quarter you're supposed to help the adjoining cafeteria. Fridays are indeed as we all feared, everything that hasn't sold gets recycled, and If it doesn't sell then.... The cafeteria gives it to the culinary program for free, Puh Lease! we're better than that.

Well I know this wont matter much to anyone, but I just needed to get it out...I FINALLY got my freaking student loan that I have been waiting on for a month and a half, so all my financial worries are over for this year. FINALLY! It got so tight that I actually had a collection agency call 2 hours ago about my car loan(didn't send the last payment in 3 weeks ago) So I'm cracking a case of yuengling and celebrating . Sorry just nobody else was home and I needed to tell someone....I might have to celebrate more and buy something for my car...:iceslolan

Congrats Igovert500! I know how it feels to have financial "freedom"...for awhile at least. Hehe I'm good this semester but I'm still working at finding stuff for next semester. ;o/ And mike93vr4, I have a similar problem when I wash my car because water somewhat soaks in but not so much that it floods. I'm assuming it's because the car's a bit older...a '94... :)

Yo stealthspeed. Are you sure the first gen 3000GT hood fits on your stealth? if so then here are three sites that offer C-F hoods for your car, just search under "3000GT carbon hood"

http://www.importfan.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=866

http://www.carbon-creations.com/shopdisplayproducts.asp?SID=4Mitsubishi&id=126&cat=3000+GT+91%2D93

http://www.andysautosport.com/products.php?id=Mi903000GT&make=Mitsubishi&mcat=Hoods&scat=Carbon%20Fiber%20Hoods

let me know if you need anything else.

Musashi3000GT

Stealthspeed, I bought a c-f hood and have not installed it yet (I did test fit it but took it off). If you have any questions or need advise let me know. Right off the bat I can offer two tips. 1. if your c-f hood is vented ask if they can provide inserts to cover the vents. Mine is vented and water got into the airfilter cause I did not know about using inserts. and 2. try to use hood pins, I know they look ugly but its safer, specialy if you have vents on it. air can get in and cause lift which will break the latch off the hood and turn your hood into a kite.
