Have any of you ever given up?
I know most males, including me, don't like to say they have given up but today I finally did on my AMT Lincoln Continental
It just got to a stage where it was basically made of putty and while sanding, I went straight through the back. I was so frustrated! My question is, How many of you have given up on a project and thrown it out or used most of the parts somewhere else?

Re: Have any of you ever given up?
i think i have only written 1 off
mostly i put them away for a while ( ie. that black 69 camaro i was working on ) and get back to them later but it sounds like yours is pretty far gone! no shame in scrapping it! just make our parts boxes all the more full!!

Re: Have any of you ever given up?
Dont think i've ever given up, although i have some models i've shelved for over a decade. I think my main problem is staying motivated to finish

Re: Have any of you ever given up?
I have.
Once. My first ever attempt at a model car build was of a Tamiya Porsche GT3 that I thought would be good to learn on by cutting out the doors and seeing what the different putties were like to work with. While it wasn't a complete failure by the time I had gotten back to it, what I had done to it prior to me putting in the box was no longer acceptable by my own standards and thus, it was not so much given up, more like rejected.

Re: Have any of you ever given up?
I have given up on at least one, I could tell it was gonna turn out way to "toy like" for me to keep so I put it in the box with no intention to finish ....Fujimi S15

Re: Have any of you ever given up?
the more you build (or better saying "buy and want to build"), the more you have, the more you are tempted to give up one and move on another.
that's my problem, I can't contain myself starting all the things I get, so each time I get another, it replace the previous one and I almost finish nothing ! If you concentrate on builds one by one, giving up should be an accident, due to a parts break or a disappointment facing an inexpected result. Most of the time when I decide to finish something I make it. Totally given up models should represent a very small percent of my models and are especially those at 1/43rd scale. I think I didn't completely and definitively give up more than 5/6 models if talking about 1/24th scale (out of around 150). |

Re: Have any of you ever given up?
I only given up on 1. The fujimi Porsche 911 turbo cabriolet. This was my first fujimi kit and an enthousiast model. I did something wrong with THE assembly of THE body and after alot of superglue and patience it was un fixable. So i broke down the model and use the parts for scratch building.

Re: Have any of you ever given up?
I have a couple models "on hold"...Sometimes I try to put too many details and I get frustrated a little bit, but nothing a couple months and a new project can not resolve.

Re: Have any of you ever given up?
Yup. Many times. No shame in it as far as I'm concerned. Threw them the trash and never looked back. Just started a new one and learned from the experience.

Re: Have any of you ever given up?
I did on a Ferrari F50. I saw pics of it that got me going and found the kit for $15. I ordered the PE set so I could follow Kustov's version, the realized one important thing. I DON'T LIKE THE CAR!!!
So I scrapped it

Re: Have any of you ever given up?
I smashed a Tamiya NSX with my bare fist because I found out paint had bled through the masking tape while my mom was yelling at me.
So immature... |
