looks awesome! on the suspension, i think your best bet is to get some spun for a more realistic look! rc shocks would make it look like it was a off road car not a rod! lovin the frame! im all about scratch built frames!

I just ran out to the Harware store to pick up some more tubing for the cross members and found a whole aisle for springs. I think I have found what I need, but I just remembered I forgot to check the price.

I just added a load of cross members withing the cross members (sorry thats confusing). So far I have gone through 5 feet of tubing for the cross members.:grinno:

Yea man I understand your busy, glad to see you're still intrested though. Still havent gotten ahold of the Hemi yet. I should have it within the next 2-3 weeks. Next week I have finals all week.

Powersteering box, not sure yet, probably styrene and putty. AC same thing. What is brake MC and clutch MC? What the hell does MC stand for?

BTW, I'll be posting new pics in about an hour or so.

Mike. I can snap pics of the brake MC and clutch MC in my car, but thats the best I can do for ya when the time comes. I wish I had a street rod with a HEMI. Oh wait, no I dont. too much on gas, thats what I like about my corolla. and yes, it has less displacement than my pepsi bottle on the counter.

I might be going to work at my uncles salvage yard this summer so I might try to find a '32 ford I could grab for a hundred bucks for reference. I may not even need to buy it.

If I cant, your pics would be appreciated.

BTW, you think gas for a Hemi 426 is bad. I want to put a 572 in my Bel Air when I get it.

86_SR5
05-16-2004, 12:13 AM
thats nothing. I dont know what the hype about the 572 is. Its got 720hp, yeah ok. Id still go with a 454 in a bel air. headers with glass packs bolted right to them. edelbrock performer intake with air gap, holley 750 and k&n cleaner and you'll burn up anything that comes your way. Also, id bolt a th350 or 400 to it with a 2500b&m stall, and stage 2 shift kit with a ford 9'' with 3.73 gears. all this in an old rusty multi colored 4dr bel air.

I cant have a 454 in a Bel Air. My friend has a 455 in his Firebird. And I would have a '51-'54 2 door bel air that I would section and chop.

Can we get back on topic now. Any comments on the pictures I posted?

GT-Alex- That makes much more sense now.

Sorry Mike. I understand you want a bigger engine. Its only for small penis compensation....

jk. the frame looks good. Im not exactly sure what you put all those lil extra beams in for, since Im no rod pro. Just don't overdo it, it could be so easy to overdo it.

That is roughly the same setup as the Pro-Ride Chassis for '32-'34 Ford Coupe. All those cross members really stiffen it up, so they are just for looks.

Sorry i translated a french expression. Obviously it doesn't mean anything in english !
Bend oil basically means work.

 French modelers are far better at modeling than at writing good english! The exact translation would have been: "elbow grease", and not bend oil!.... :icon16:
The reason of this french expression is that all french modelers are very fat people with short arms that just end with elbows, and not hands! So making a kit is extremely difficult for us, as you can imagine, and we quickly begin to sweat... which makes our work even more difficult!
Amazingly, the result is most of the time very good, and some times perfect! :screwy::loser:
Gt-Alex just meant to encourage you! And say he appreciated your work. :smokin:

... And I want to add my voice to his! That's the foot! (another french expression meaning it is more than good!)

We'll wait patiently for your next progresses! Keep it on! (I don't know what it means but as it sounds good I decided to write it!) :icon16:

NIce looking design on the brake.

Except I just calculated the scale and its the wrong damn size. Thing is too small. Its 1 1/8 instead of 2 1/8.:banghead: Now to go back into CAD and redraw it.

Howielong

Can't you just resize it in cad. Im still learing all the tricks. But just click the center point and make the radius 1-1/16" instead of 5/16".

Correct. But Im not using AutoCAD right now. I am using a Computer Aided Design Program (CAD).

Also redrawing it would be easier. I just finished redrawing it now. Its quicker because all the drills need to be redrawn at 3/32" instead of 1/16". Then other parts of it too. It was just easier to redraw it.

Got it. I thought it was autocad. But yeah it is alot easier to redraw then to work out all the bugs.

I think the cross drills are too big. They aren't really very big in life, as all they do is carry off gasses. (And besides that, slotted rotors are better because drilled ones are prone to cracking under heavy braking. Have you ever seen drilled rotors on a racecar?)

Thanks. I may update tonight with progress of the brake rotors. I have to drill 60 damn holes. I cant wait.

Progress will be exceptionally slow this week. I have finals all week. So I'll be studying like hell. Then Friday afternoon right when I get out of school I hope to run to the LHS and pic up that Hemi. I looked at it today, and damn that thing is heavy as hell. Probably a couple pounds.

I have posted it in about 10 different threads. Hell if I follow there threads religiously they could show some intrest in mine, eh?

Yes that is one of my paint booths in my pics. That one is 36"x24"x12 I believe. Its my airbrush/model booth, then theres one for cars, and large parts.

Right now its on a dresser and two carboard boxes temporarily. I am rebuilding my shop, so I kind of needed to move it out of the way while I build a new workbench that has yet to be started.

That paint booth is home-made. I used a kitchen exhaust fan and have the exhaust go out a dryer vent in the side of the house. Do you want some pictures? If so, Ill PM them to you.
