The Fastest you've driven?

Last week I drove a 1999 Mini Cooper up to 180kph, I can tell you that was pretty scarry!

Drove 110mph, I know compared to most of you thats not much but again I didnt have my license, the car wasnt that great (95 Cavalier), and I didnt have my temps either, my mom didint know I took it soo didnt want to go to the all powerful 120 and mess up the engine, it was already burning enough...

129, speed limited, would have gone a heck of a lot faster, didnt know 5th gear pulled that hard!!

130+ before i ran outta space an had to start slowing.

i hit 105 in my '91 Explorer and thought i was gonna die
i hit 122 in my '98 A6 smooth as silk
i hit 110 in my '94 E-320 with plenty left to go

the speedometer only went up to 130 but I had it probably a half inch over that so I'll guess 135 with 1500 RPM left but no more acceleration.

170 mph in the car (Lambo) and 183 mph on my bike (Yamaha R1).

The car has more to give, but I just need to find a long enough road, devoid of other traffic.

about 336 kmh (much more than 200 mph) in a porsche turbo (owned by a friend of me)

120ish in my GS-R :) Had to slow down because of a fat turn on the freeway.

And in my friends 7 series BMW we hit 140 somthin.

The fastest I made with my Opel Corsa A aka Vauxhall Nova was 185 km/h and that car has only 45 hp!

And I drove the new BMW Z4 with the 3.0l engine, kicked it to 250 km/h. You can´t go fast with it 'cause the speed is limited by BMW to avoid accidents etc.

me and my cousin hit 145 in his 92 supra hes hit 165 in his ol'conquest but that was w/ a pretty hefty nas hookup that burned up his engine

saldy i hit 120 in a sonata on 35w in minn and beat a accord man thats gotta hurt

I did 123 on I-90 this summer in my Legacy. Then my engine did the same thing it does in Gran Turismo when your car tops off. Reeerrreeerreeeerrr! :bigthumb:

My friend has a GSXR 1000 he's been 164, but the crazy thing is he was in 4th gear with 2000 RPM left before redline!

The scariest thing though was going 80 in my 1979 Blazer, all of the steering bushings were worn out and it walked badly. The only time I thought I was going to die.

-I went 100 in my dads windstar (with my whole family in the car... trying to see how fast it could go, lol)

-120 in my S2K, steering's real fidgety when u go fast :frown:

-132 in my moms V6 honda accord, still had some left too. those got some serious speed for a 4 door.:bigthumb:

I've taken my car to around 162 when it actually stopped and started to slow to top out at 131mph. I found out later I had blown a spark plug. I thougt the Turbo was dead. But the turbo has nothing to do with Top Speed. It just gets u there much faster. I've raced cars from Mustangs, to Suped up Eclipse and Accords with only 5 spark plugs. Still left them in the dust. I changed the plugs and so i'm taking on Vipers and Vettes again. Looking to upgrade to a stage "3" mod for my 911. That will give me about 500hp with a dual Turbo. 0-60 should rocket me into the 3.9 range. i can hit 0-60 now after service in about 4.5 second range.

144 in my '88 RX7 (no turbo). On 24 East in CA bay area (pretty flat stretch of freeway) at roughly 1:30 am. This was the absolute limit of my car.

I hit the gov @ 124 in my SL2. I have H rated tires, so I thought I was going to die. But I did manage to take a pic. However I cant find it. But I will post it when I get it off my friends server. It was also on a deserted streatch of 35 mph road! Beat That!

(If you're 13)Since you can drive on your own land or someone elses with there permission but not on the road. Could a 13 yr old drive at a race track with the track owners permission???????

146+ in my Dodge Spirit R/T. Top speed run with a Northstart Caddy. He hit a brick wall at 146 (limited I assume) I was still pulling ahead. Can you say flying phone booth.

Let's say for a moment that your serious, which I asuume you are NOT. :rolleyes: There is No track existing in the United States that will let a 13yrold, or non-licenses driver as a matter of a fact, get behind of the wheel of a car and race down it. Maybe in France, Russia, or some God awful African nation where they just don't care, but not here kid. So I suggest that you sit back, enjoy being fresh out of your pre-teens, and wait for your turn. :bigthumb:

Well, in my '94 Grand Prix SE coupe, I saw 115 on the interstate on my way back from Jacksonville, AL. I had been to the Regional Basketball tourney my senior year, and my dad had told me my car had a speed limiter, probably around 93mph. Me and my friends decided to give it a shot, and we had the speedo maxed out, cause it only went to 115.

In the '97 Bonneville SSE, I probably saw 75-80, never gave it a shot.

In my '97 GTP, I've seen 93, couldn't go any faster cause my friend in his '92 Camaro RS was in front of me, and apparently he got scared at 93 and wouldn't go any faster. Supposedly, the speed limiter on this car is 126, but I haven't got on the interstate and maxed it out yet :tongue: I can tell you that at 93, she's still got plenty more to give!

well in my old car i hit 124.. the old car just so happened to be a honda accord 96, wagon body too.. lol. but none of my friends believe me. just cuz its a 4 cyd. but who cars.. add me in there =-)

I raced an SL 55 AMG on the road a few days ago! i went 140, but the SL just kept going to 155, and i didnt want to push it because it was a crowded motorway, although people were moving out the way for us. I was ahead towards the end, but boy the SL's are quick! :sunglasse
The managing director of the company I am a non-executive director of just got a titanium SL55 AMG too. If i could afford the £96,000 tag then I would be tempted. Beautiful! :smile:

120 MPH in my 944 between turns 1 and 2 at Bridgehampton (gone, :crying: ) The kicker here...turns 1 and 2 at Bridgehampton are about 100 yds apart :22yikes: Turn 1 was mighty fast.

I'd be interested to know how fast you've travelled whilst in control of your vehicle.....and where. Don't care about legality, just the figures.

According to the state trooper, I was doing 168 mph in Camaro...thank goodness for knowing the trooper. I was on a long straight back country highway in Texas.

The bad news came while I slowing down to get my lecture; I blew a heater hose and had to call a tow truck.

something similar happened to me and my friend in his 650 hp turbo

we came home from a porsche drivers training from "Boxberg" (= bosh test tracks for esp)

we drove 200kmh and saw an sl in front of us.
we batlled until 310kmh and he went to the right. we passed easily and went 339 yea it´s damn fast!

Well, I originally posted that 95 (or maybe 98) was the fastest I'd gone in my current Grand Prix, but I had it up to 100mph the other night. Then I ran out of straight road.

Well, my oldsmobile shuts down at 127 and I got it to the point where it slowed itself down, so I guess the fastest Ive gone is 127.

145. 1993 Mustang GT (5spd) stock motor w/ 3.55 gears and MSD Ignition....and a couple of thrown rods! LOL

100 mph in a '01 tahoe..it cant go ne faster than that...that things is so frickin heavy n smooth u cant tell that ur goin that fast....i guess thats y my mom didnt notice...lol

I've gotten my TA up to 115... I'd like to get her up to about 140/150 but I won't because I've gotten so many speeding tickets already that I can't afford another one. BTW, the speed limit was 35 where I was going 115... :evillol:

168 in a GN going that fast in a regal body is not scary. but slowing down is

128 at some time between 12am and 3am on a 4 lane divided road on the outside of town. I turned the OverDrive off before the "race" and the guy wouldn't let up after me beating him so we just kept going until I was about to hit redline in 3rd and since the OD was off it wasn't going to shift (Arrrgggg stupid automatics).

I get chills reading these numbers. Here in New York I am not going more then 10 over the limit in most cases because of the points and insurance premium increase, however when I traveled to Quebec I did 105-110 twice, ones in a Grand marquis and the second time in a Toyota Sienna both reatals, I took the risk because I tought they don't share the conviction records, then when I checked the NY Dept. Motor Vehicle website it says that they do share info with Quebec and Ontario, that was funny to me because they don't share with any other State. Try to understand why...

If I can find my ELise brochure I will be able to tell you... Dammit!!!

I went approx. 180-190 km/h in my first car ever, a SAAB 900 EMS '80. Hard to say how fast I was going, the speedo showed 200 km/h but then you have to calculate with the fact that almost every car shows higher speed than you are really travelling in. Im my rescent car, a Citroën BX 19 GTi '90 I haven't tried yet to run it all the way, but 170 on the speedo is no problem, steady as a rock and almost 1000 revs left to the redline. Mighty fun car to drive, but it's funnier to drive on a twisty road instead of going in a straigt line.

I hit over 220km/h in my 1982 standard datsun 280zx. The old 3 speed limited me to about there. Now however i have just put in a 320 hp with a 5 speed. So ill have to let you know on the new top speed. :)

I am 17 and have gone 97mph in a montero sport on a windy day!

120 mph on a track in my firebird (my reaction: "I can go faster")
99 mph in my Tercel. (my reaction: holy hell, this thing will go that fast?!?")

this was in my old honda prelude DX. i did done 130mph on blue ridge in 4th and the car is a 5spd, i did 130 on the freeway add had the po-po chopper out scannin the freeway(they never fond out:D:D) and then right before i gave up the keys for my truck i did 120 on blue river road(now that's tough!!!!, also that was with almost blad back tires).


now with my new truck, igot it up to 93mph tonight while getting the crap kicked outa me by a bonneville(this was on 135th street near state line.

About 75mph in my old Subaru, and about 120 in my pickup while racing another truck on the freeway.

Man when i was in an old dried up lake bed in Nevada i had my dads old Corvette and i was going to this like i forgot what is was but it was like a meeting place, anyways i gave it some gas out there and i was instantly doing over 145MPH i love to drive fast, dont you guys love to drive fast?

Sunny day, dinner time, clear French motorway, one Peugeot 406 V6 and 210km/h. Arriving from the UK the no camera zone glue my right foot to the floor.
For A road it's 140km/h with my 306... late for work so clear path.

i've been to 130mph in 4th gear in a 1992 dodge daytona v6 3.0L 5-speed. Does anyone know how to disable the speed limiter?

I think the fastest i've ever traveled on a public road was 124 mph, in a 95 Camaro. fastest i've ever been in my life was at Frank Hawley's Drag School in FL. Went 201.31 mph with a 6.90 et. Talk about an adrenaline rush, i think i was on an adrenaline high for an hour after that run on the last day. Best money i ever spent for an amusement ride. :rofl:
