Hi guys
I like driving fast and because I live near the german boarder I often get over there to flat out my car.
Fastest I have been was in a rented Alfa Romeo 166 3.0 V6 doing 255 km/h (159 mph) on the Autobahn A81 between Singen and Stuttgart.
Here are the links to the pics:
http://medlem.tripodnet.nu/need4speed/pics/michael_lusk255.jpg
http://medlem.tripodnet.nu/need4speed/pics/michael_lusk250.jpg
I have driven several cars until today and of course I ve seen topspeed and made pics from all of them (You can see all of them on http://come.to/need4speed). Here are the figures:
Seat Leon 1.8 T 20V, 240 km/h
Volvo S60 2.4 A, 225 km/h
Fiat Punto GT, 225 km/h
Opel Astra Caravan 1.6, 210 km/h
Renault Clio 1.4, 202 km/h
Mazda 121, 180 km/h
VW Beetle, 136 km/h
Send in also pics of your car to prove how fast you have really been.
many regards
Michael

I have gone 90 in my 325xi. I have never had the courage to go over the 100 mark!
I have a 95 Corolla and I've done 100 in it! If I had a 325 or any 3 series for that matter I'd be going a LOT faster all the time! :D Use your power for the people who don't have it!

In my younger years - had a pinto that would do 120.
Got a ticket doing 128 in a '71 LTD - didn't know that things that big could go that fast!
Biggest rush was doing over 145 in a Datsun 260Z. Took forever to get it stopped!
Just got rid of a '70 Mustang I had in Japan - Old, but it'd still do 120 when I could find a road big enough and clear enought to open it up on.

140 kp/h, this was my toyota corona btw... along a moderate stretch of backstreet at 2am in the morning... handled like a tank past 100 but she got there in the end...
i've also done 130 in my friends chrysler galant (its little 1.5L was SCREAMING!!)... the backstreet has a few kerbs that you have to slow down for, so i popped it back to 3rd, the engine kicked up a few thousand revs, tyres were screaming (coz they were bald)... its pretty much stopped me from doing stuff like that again... or until i can get a car thats meant to perform well at high speeds...
this was all done a few days after i got my liscence, so i was fairly inexperienced at the time...

i've buried the needle in my civic way past te 130mph @ like 6200 rpm. so i'd say somewhere around 140 something.
115 in a 25 once before on a road called rollercoaster hill. it goes downhill and then up sharply giving the feeling of riding a coaster. the G forces are INTENSE.
110 chasing a mustang on ocean ave. (30mph zone) i proceeded to pass him on a turn at about 80mph.
170+ on a friends 'busa when i questioned its capability of speed. i felt it had more but i was NOT about to go any faster. (i was scared shitless as it was)

Okay so I was cruising my mom's 1998 Ford Escort ES Sport(about 92 horsepower to the wheels,a real man's car)on the highway going about 70-75 mph.I come across this rig going about 55.Well you know the phrase,Can't Drive 55,so I whip into the left lane(two-way road)and get on it.About halfway through the trailer(The Escort only took about a minute or two on good days to pass rigs.A true muscle car.)I see a Mack blasting right for me.So I rev the gutsy four cylinder to the point that the powerfull buzzing from the engine almost blew me ears out.I flip it over into the right lane just in time, the huge 13" tigerpaws screeching and pawing for traction.Threw all this conclusion,I realized I had not checked the speedo.96 mph!!!!Trust me,you will never know true performance untill you've revved an Escort to a whooping 96 mph.I became a man that day. :grey:

I regulary do 90-100mph on the B-roads going to work in the UK. Standard Focus.
The fastest was 140mph (probably 125-130 real speed) in my Civic VTi (B16a 160 bhp). It was a clear evening on the Motorway with 3 lanes to myself with about 500rpm to the redline then I sh*t it.

the fastest, it was arround 230kmh (140mph) with an Alfa 166 V6 Turbo.
But usually, I don't overpass 170 (105 mph) on the highway in order to avoid fines and radars.

You can. The speed limit (on the higway) is, in France, 85 mph, but the radars are set on 100 mph. You can drive faster if you want : there are not as many radars as in England or, worse, in the USA.
In Italy, it's better, the spid limit is 95 mph (with a tolerance too).
The best is, of course in Germany, where there are not speed limit.

This 166 is a 2.0 V6 Turbo 205hp. Very nice car and... very nice motor, as every time by Alfa Romeo ! 0-60mph : 7,9 sec. max speed : 155 mph.
It's the car of my sister's husband.
You feel the turbo when you're accelerating. It's an exceptional car, nice to drive. But, it's not very big inside (for the size of the car), worse than a 5 series !
On the little roads, it's almost agile like a little GTI. And on the Highway, perfect stability and you can go quite fast without knowing it ;)
Finally, i can't forget to speak about the motor's song, so nice.
And I hope I will be able to buy a 156 around 2004.

The max in a car would be the 290 km/h I've done in my brothers Audi S2 with +/- 440 bhp.
We haven't topped it yet... It keeps on going!
The max I've done on a bike would be the 327 km/h I've done on a non-standard Hayabusa.
The original speedometer only goes up to 300 km/h but I mounted a cat-eye bike speedometer and those are very accurate.
The max speed I've done wheelying is 227 km/h underneath a bridge-restaurant on a Dutch highway.

I took my mother's 2002 Ford Escape XLT up to 100-mph once. That thing kicks ass. It's Duretec 32-valve twin-cam V6 has got 200-hp stock & will haul. It's the front-wheel drive version so it pulls harder & is lighter. I think it's good for a high 16 in the 1/4. That don't sound like much, but for me....:sun:

Winter of 1974/75:
A freind had a real oddball... a 1958 Chrysler 300D onto which had been dropped the rear body of the same year Plymouth station wagon. Still had the cool front end, and the 392 Hemi with 2 four-barrels, but a light body and I suspect slightly more aerodynamic. I hit 150mph one afternoon on the freeway.... on bias-ply tires. That should've scared the *** out of me.

just this past week like tuesday I think it was I was doing 95 on this country back road. Doesn't sound impressive but read on. I was coming up on a long sweeping turn so I slowed down to 90 and then about half way through it I got back up to 95 anyway my friend starts telling me to get over. I was focused and didn't listen to him so I look ahead and there's a dip in the pavement that's like 10 feet long, not a sharp dip just a smooth dip in the pavement. anyway I didn't want to swerve so I hit it, the suspension botttomed out completely and when I came out of it the car had to leave the ground by at least 5 inches cause the engine reved and it landed hard as shit. anyway I've had it up to 120 but this incident was more exciting.

:o80-90-100, those are daily crusing speeds for me when driving around the nations capitol, but anything faster then that is very risky. State Troopers are hard pressed to catch "speeders" especially at night and when it's even remotly warm. Thats in fact due to all those bastard copy-cat kids who think they're auditioning for the next Fast & Furious
However there are ways around this, and my top speed has been around 140ish on my 1996 Avalon @ around 4000rpm in 4th, before i ran out of road, and i've yet to try and max since. My 2000 i've only taken up to 127 just because it feels so floaty and out of control at anything over 120mph.

As I see you're Irish, I've a question for you BMW-hamman : are your speed limits in mph or in kmh ? I'm not sure... ;) even if i went in this beautiful country 6 or 7 years ago. Belfast was ot the best, but the rest was beautiful, nice country, but I'm not a fan of the Guinness :D

Teh fastest on the road was about 140-ish-mph, but on the race track I have been about 200mph, in a racing Diablo.

You put an Irish flag in your profile ;)
Indonesia is wonderfull, my godfather worked there for TotalFinaElf for about 6 years.
Speed limits in Germany are indeed quite smart, overall on the highways :D
Come here to say hello when you'll be in Paris :D ;)

TotalFinaElf is one of the main oil company in the world ;)
160kmh, it's not fast on an highway (i don't know the Indonesian highways though ;) ). But in France, you can also drive untill 160 without problems with the radars.
This virus is quite dangerous :(
