Ultimate Collection of F1 Video Clips

You are sitting inside an un-sound-proofed ex-racecar with a straight cut gearbox not far from you and the whine from inside the car will try to drown out the sound of the engine - the higher the revs, the more the gearbox whine [hence the need for headphones]

You don't get to hear the gearbox sound so much if you are outside the car, as the engine noise from the exhaust drowns it out :)

You never really hear the gearbox when you look those clips when these cars were racers 95-96. But road legal; the silenders will do the job, the engine stays on background and the staigth-cut gearbox is the sound what we hear when the car goes buy.......:crying:

Andy, does the central driving position prove a problem when overtaking on normal two way roads? Even in a LH drive car you can see down the inside but am not clear what the effect is of sitting in the centre.

Yep there are these 2 vids of that day; and one taken outside. So far.
The sound yes! Specialty the longer one; 11minutes clip is absolutely perfect. There really isn't available many videos which has this sound quality.

I thought that was a secret weapon of McLaren. Each rivet brakes one weel. If you want to bias brakes: pull up the right rivet, or two. Remember the second brake pedal in McLaren Racing cars.

XP4 has been privately owned since 1994. It's first owner was Sir Roger Bhatnagar of New Zealand. In 2000 he sold the car to American Larry Blair who still has it today in Northern California. I saw the car in Monterey in 2005 - there is a set of photos in my Flickr album.
