I mentioned Lanzante and the windows a year or so back to the owner - so he is aware of that. IMO the windows of #06R don't look nice, but they are practical......

Practical is a big word. For having spent a bit of time in that car, the air just doesn't get in much through the window. The airways are way more useful to that extent!

I just don't think it fits the style of the rest of the car, but then I never think drastic facelifts on original shapes work.
It's too narrow for that front end to work and the 12C looks less pinched. Haven't seen one in the flesh though so maybe it's just a photo thing. The 12C works so well in real life as well I find, much better than in photos.
The P1 looks amazing mind.

What's the milage on 028?
I've never seen a different colour on the upper wishbones close to the exhausts.
Another thing is the removal of the calipers. Is it because breathing the brake system isn't an easy job, maybe? ANd kept the calipers in place on the chassis?
Or is it such a big 'service' all fluids with all critical lines / tubings are replaced anyway?
And nice to see it on an ordinary carwash ;)

The discolouration is probably a result of the effects of heat on the anodising fnish on the wishbones, no doubt if I am mistaken someone more knowlegable will provide the correct answer.

I have a note somewhere but it was around 10K when sold in the early part of this year.
Calipers may have been left with the chassis just to facilitate quicker removal of the powertrain unit. Once you crack the hoses to the calipers you're going to have to deal with the fluid. Maybe best to make that a separate job after the fact.

I agree it is common practice to tie the callipers up to the bodywork or chassis to save any re-bleeding etc. Even if you are replacing the fluid it is usually one of the last jobs done.

No Quicksilver here, this is a proper McLaren Titanium exhaust! I'm not aware of a quicksilver actually being fitted on a car, they test fitted one a few years ago but it was quickly replaced with a proper McLaren one.

We were halfway through polishing them up before first startup. If you leave fingerprints on the titanium when the exhaust first starts up they are burnt onto the surface and stay there!
This is almost the loudest we do, the 'Goodwood' option is to modify the standard box and is a level below.

HOw much different is the LM's exhaust compared to this #028 currently added exhaust system?

Does anything in particular need to be done since this is a road car that no longer has the rear crumple zone (i.e. no huge silencer to absorb the blow) to keep it's crash test certification? I know people can do modifications like this on their own, but since it is a McLaren installed system i figured it had to at least have been thought about.
M.S.O

The exhaust is very similar to the LM system. The LMs were homologated with this type of exhaust so no problems there with crash certification etc. :)

Any idea why the catalytic convertors on chassis 024 have been altered? They're quite a bit fatter and somewhat shorter than the standard ones. Possibly part of someone's US EPA conversion methods was my thought, but certainly there are other cars here that preserved the originals.

The siamese pipes are non standard as well and a heatshield missing. It will almost certainly be EPA fiddling, there has been weirdness on other cars as well that we have seen including air pumps and additional whole vehicle wiring looms on some occasions!!

I believe the efforts here on this car were what finally convinced the DOT/EPA to expand the eligible model year range on F1s under "Show or Display" from 1993 thru 1995 up to 1998, to include all the cars. This car was done by JK Technologies with final signoff from the EPA on Sept 25th, 2003.
So silly they have to even waste the time and money for this - the 'Show or Display' exemption should have been written to overlook all EPA requirements as well for the incredibly small numbers of cars that were going to be qualified under it. Just a few more years though and we'll be at the 21 year mark where I am fairly certain emissions devices won't need to be fussed with any longer with new arrivals.
