High grit sandpaper and where to buy it...
I know you're supposed to be able to buy high grit sand paper at hobbyshops, but nobody here seems to have any. The highest it goes to is "Ultra fine, 600 grit". Load of bunk. I've tried 3 hobbyshops and they all only go to 600 grit.
So, 2 questions then. Would wetsanding mould lines, etc. with 600 be sufficient if I plan to primer and paint? I don't think it would be. Or, is there someplace other than hobbyshops that would carry this sandpaper. I don't really want to buy online and wait 2 months until I get it...

Did you try an auto paint store, or even an auto parts store that sells touch up paints and the like, they often carry high grit sandpapers.

Generally auto stores and stores like Wal-Mart carry high grit sandpaper. Check the automotive section of Wal Mart, next to the spray paints.

Try Micheals or A.C. Moore for some sand paper by Testors, its pretty good for the price.

But you will still need to sand with a 1000, 1200 then a 1500 to get rid of the scratches before you prime. Any hardware shop should have sandpaper

Micro-Mark
Micro-Mark is a store where they carry a huge products selection to sand and polish models. I'm from Québec and I received my order in less than a week. I use Soft touch pads to polish (2400 to 12000 grit)... I haven't found anything finer than 2000 grit in the nearest hobby shop and the Walmart here doesn't carry nice stuff like most of you guys talk about...
here is their web site www.micromark.com

Dude, I wetsand with 400 grit to remove mold lines and it does not scratch the plastic. But anyways, your from Canada so Canadian Tire is where you need to go. They have 3M brand wetdry sandpaper from 80-2000 grit.

If I use 1200 grit sandpaper for finishing my models is that fine or should I be using a finer grit paper (eg. 1600,2000) (I prime over that)??
Also I've got the Tamiya white-fine primer not the grey one, don't you guys find it hard to see where you've sprayed if its on a white model? |
