Cool Jenesis DR30 with SR20 (aoshima)

hey, i have just purchased an Aoshima jenesis DR30 skyline kit, for $21AUS, which is equivelant to about $17U, nice and cheap, like most aoshimas are at my local hobbyco store, anyway, this model comes with 2 bonnets, and clear one, and a normal one, the engine bay is there, the bonnet is open, it comes with a brake booster and even a turbo, but no engine,so, that needs addressing, so in goes an SR20 i think, and, ifr i can be bothered, a high mount turbo? im unsure about colour, im thinkin, light grey and black 2-tone, or white and grey 2-tone, with charcoal WATANABE 17's,, no progress pics yet, as progress hasnt started yet, should start it tomorrow though, any colour sudgestions are welcome, hope you enjoy this build

Re: Jenesis DR30 with SR20 (aoshima)

hmm, its been, almost 3 hours since i started this thread i think...about that, ive been working on it, brake lines are attached to the firewall now :P the brake booster is attached aswell, but not the master cylinder just yet, ive started making the radiator, ive used a tamiya R32 radiator, if youve ever made one, you will know that the radiator doesnt have any detailing on the side towards the front of the car, ie:no radiator cores are shown, so ive used an AMT Supra radiator, modified to fit, and basicly used the R32 radiator as a fan shroud. I have also used an AMT toyota Supra Battery,I made some black and red battery cables aswell, Ive started designing the exhaust/turbo manifold, im going to solder it togather, im making it a high mount turbo, Ive modified an R32 inlet manifold, to look like a Greddy or simialer inlet manifold for a 4 cylindr instead of 6, i went to take photos of the progress, and found that my cameras stupid batterys were flat ive put them on charge, and hopefully ill have pics up tomorrow, again, im very unsure of colour choice, so if you have an idea or opinion, please share it, as im fresh out of ideas.

Re: Jenesis DR30 with SR20 (aoshima)

A turbo huh? That is interesting, i have an A31 and that also comes with a turbo, and i have another Aoshima kit that comes with a whole pully system, maybe Aoshima had wanted their kits to be engine detailed????? Who knows. But i also found that to be very interesting. Hope to see pics on this project!

Red face

pics finally!
the wite i just an undercoat, but I quite like it, so i might paint it all white, you can see the R32 inlet on the SR20, it looks a bit oversized and rough, so im making another, more proportioned one, the fan is also off an R32, the turbo manifold is next to the engine, you will notice its high mount, the turbo will not be very large, for more response, lol, yeh, right. just after these pics were taken, I added an R32 final drive and CV shafts to it, so it now a "4WD-SR20-DR30 skyline,"....at least its diffeent, its basicly a long GTiR pulsar/sunny now I spose.anyway, any comm/critiscisms, or ideas are more than welcome!

and none of that is glued on BTW, its just blu-tac , im going to gloss the rocker cover i think, what are your thoughts, since it looks alright like this(thats tamiya clear blue by the way)

just a quick update, no pics of this particular update yet, as im tired and need 2 to go 2 sleep. but the car is going to be Tamiya Light Blue Anodized Alluminium, and the turbo that the kit came with was just to humiliating to put on, so i made my own...its huge, the bonnet barely closes....but would you have it any other way?, of course, ideas critiscisms, comment, hell, even COMPLEMENTS are welcome here . hope to here from you's

Re: Jenesis DR30 with SR20 (aoshima)

hey, quick, picturelss update since im tired and wanna go to bed, the turbo that came with the kit is to embarrassing to put on, so I made one, its huge to say the least, im pretty happy with it, ill put pics up soon. the colour has been chosesn, its tamiya "sky blue anodised alluminium" which is basiclly a sbright silver with a light blue tinge. and im using an S13 sileighty fujimi spoiler on it, if you dont know, it looks like an R32 GTR wing

Re: Jenesis DR30 with SR20 (aoshima)

haa haa, i am actually, they dont look it, but they are watanabes, very big ones, but the kit also came with a set of deepdish simmons style wheels, like, the old skool hot-wire, type, i will probably use the watanabes, but i dont mind the others either

Re: Jenesis DR30 with SR20 (aoshima)

heres a quick update, the colour is tamiya light red pearl, i didnt think it would be quite so pink, but i like it anyway, keep the 80's thing happinin.,the shot with the watanabes on it isnt the final ride height, its a little lower at the front once togather
