WIP: Richard Burns 2002 Peugeot 206 WRC (Tribute Build)

Hello everybody,
My name is Steve, I just bought a 206 WRC 2002, to join the tribute-build to Richard Burns. It's a "Tour De Cource" version, and I'll also build a rally diorama with this...

I'm warning you, this will be a slow project (sorry about that)

I don't want to make any changes to the original kit (which I find very good, and in my opinion very accurate - correct me if I'm wrong)

I just want to paint it as good as I can, along with some good weathering of cource. Driver and co-driver will (of cource) be put inside - becase of the diorama...

So, enough talking...

These are the things in the kit:

and the first thing I like to try (as I believe most of us do...) is the wheels..

1st

or 2nd

I choose the first ones...

Best of luck with the build. Either rim choice would be accurate as Richard used both the 5 spoke and the 15 spoke rims on that years Tour de Corse.

Steve, what pictures are you looking for ? Interior ? Detailed exterior shots ?

Phil, can you work out why the 2 rim sets were used ? I can only guess that the 15 spokes were used on gravel/tarmac stages and the 5 spokes were on pure tarmac ??

Here's some front, side and back pics of Richards car from Corsica '02.

I couldn't find any reasonable images in car but I did find this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DIi6zqf7efU

A stage incar with Richard on the 2002 Rally Catalunya. There are a couple of different camera perspectives so you can get some detail of the cockpit.

Why ?? Uhh...
I don't really know why but I know that both were used, like pics posted prove it BTW.
I suppose some kind of tyres were mounted on some rims whereas other ones were on the other rims...

Moreover I don't see what you call "gravel/tarmac" stages and "pure tarmac",
Corsica is not a gravel rally but a pure tarmac one like you call it yourself.
Rims have on my opinion nothing to work with tarmac quality if it's what you mean.
Moreover again think to previous years, Why should have been used such rims only in 2003 if their use depends on tarmac quality or something like that ?
(whereas Citroen only used 15 spokes rims...?)

I think the good reason can be that Citroen already used these 15 spokes rims and maybe OZ wanted to supply in 2003 only one kind of rims to both teams, then Peugeot used these new ones and the rest of the stock of the former ones.
Mounting one kind of tyres (soft and hard ?) on each type of rims could be a clue to better recognize them...?
Perhaps that's why you thought to gravel quality...?

What is sure is that both type of rims were used... more than that I can only suppose things...

Re: WIP: Richard Burns 2002 Peugeot 206 WRC (Tribute Build)

Hi

It's great to see that I'm not the only slow builder on this forum...

The underside of our 206 looks nice and clean.
Not sure about the interior. Or at least the way you've painted the interior.
I would have painted all the same coloured parts together, but for instance, the helmet holder (probably not the official name for it) I would have painted separately.
But than again. There are more roads that lead to Rome, so I'll just keep watching your progress and see where it ends up.

Judging by the underside, I think it will turn out great !
