Question Aston Martin DB5 vs Ferrari

Ok People, here it is.

I was watching 007 Goldeneye with my neighbor who's a little but of a ditse and she's like "oh like cool! James Bond has to win! He's like soo sexy!".

i puked on the couch.

in any event, that was an interesting idea. If you haven't seen the part of that movie when bond is racing Xenia, see it. He's in his silver DB5 and she's in a red ferrari spyder 355 i think.

i don't know much about the DB5, and i figured the Ferrari could take it.
but i'm not sure. Anybody know what would happen in reality?

Peace. :sun:

well the aston martin is a cow. its got power but its too heavy to race at a track. i dunno about the F355 but if it was the F360 the ferrari would kick its ass. but since its a F355 it would be close.

Wow, I could have sworn that the 360 was much better then the 355. I guess I underestimated the 355.

I am going out on a limb here and say "It was in the script" so there was no way for the Ferrari to win.

well i'm pretty sure a supra with a turbo upgrade, larger intercooler, exhuast, and intake can take a stock ferrari F355 spyder like the one in the movie(i know the supra in the fast and the furious has much more mods then that) so the supra smoking that ferrari would be no contest. and when i say taht the F360 is superior is because at the track it handles much better then the dated F355. the NSX was more then a match for the F355 and the GT-R was also another close match. now with the F360. it actually beats the NSX and the GT-R.

As the owner/driver/drifter of a British car with wire wheels, I can say for a fact that the DB-5 couldn't win. It simply wouldn't hook-up off the line or hold the road as well as a recent mid-engine Ferrari. Physics wouldn't allow it. Now, let's rewind to 1965 when the DB-5 was mixing it up with Jaguar E-types and Ferrari 250GTO's on track, and we'll see a race. Although the 250GTO still has it beat.

We have a mix of everything here. on one hand i'm inclined to agree with octagon in that a modern Ferrari could stomp a DB5, however i'm also sure that despite the fact it's a cow, if the driver knew how to use the car to it's maximum ability, then in theory it would be pretty close.

Maybe the DB5 would take it? Based on my logic would that work or am i working on a hole-filled angle here.........

actually in bestmotoring internationals. they always kept all hte competitions in the same year and generation. so during the time the Ferrari F355 was competing. in japan they had the NSX type S zero. which was by far the fastest NSX out in the market (by the way its much much faster then the older NSX type R's ) and the they were indentical in the aceleration test, and they handled about the same. all the NSX's we get in the states are slower and worse handling compared to the japanese counter part. no one in the states is goin to buy a NSX with no nothing, no power windows, no a/c, no power door locks. nothing. you know why? cuase U.S. sucks!!

Wait a minute, you're paying the rest of these guys? I feel cheated!

Sorry, but the F355 would eat a DB5 for a light mid afternoon snack

Yeah, we always get watered down versions of Japanese cars. I atribute this to a deep seated hatred of America by the Japanese. This sucks, because I'm Canadian, and I suffer too. This further widens the Canadian-American rift...

Now the question should be "what does Aston Martin have that can swat an F355?"

I nominate any Vantage. Particularly the almighty Virage Vantage. Plus, don't forget Bond's new Aston, the Vanquish.
