Back Hatch Rattles From Subwoofer HELP!!

Hey, I've got an 89 CRX Si with 3 10" MTX Subs. The subs are facing towards the rear to bounce the bass around more, and it sounds great from the inside, but from the outside you dont hear any thumpin', you just hear the rattling from my hatch. I'm not sure what can be done to fix it but any help would be greatly appreciated, thanx. :frog:

I think there are some kind of rubber pads you can adjust that will make the rear hatch stop rattling. I'm not sure where since mine doesn't have this problem but that's what I've heard.

a lot of the rattle is actually the mechanism that holds the door closed and opens it. If you open up your hatch you'll see the little metal loop at the base near the bumper in the middle. If you put something (like black electrician's tape) around that to where your hatch can still latch shut, but enough to give it padding, it should help a great deal. After that you kinda have to trouble shoot the entire door edge. FGH was right about the pads, I'm just not sure how either.

I had the same problem. I fixed it by adjusting the rubber stoppers... I believe there are 2 of them, one on each side of the hatch. All you have to do is twist them to the left, which will unscrew them a little bit. This should provide enough pressure when the hatch is closed to prevent most of the rattle. The electricians tape didn't really do much for me.

On a side note, these rubber stoppers also exist on the doors and under the hood in case you have rattle problems there as well.

also you can cut some carboard and put it behind your plate, so to reduce that noise as well.

With 1000 Watts RMS of MOMO Subs, my whole car was rattleing, my roof litterally was going up, but i turned down the amp after that, but my hatch door does not cause any problems, my lisecnse plate was fixed by putting foam behind it and the ohly thing that rattles now is my spoiler, that bitch makes so much vibrations!!! But if i squeeze it together, it stops, so its not the bolts that holds the spoiler on the car, its the spoiler itself......... The best place to hear your subs is OPEN your DOORS, keep trunk closed, and walk to the front of your car and let the bass rip, and it sounds the best!!!

Thanx everyone, I did all your ideas and now the rattling has been greatly decreased and bass has increased. I just have one question for MyFirst4G: how are you able to run all that power without killing your battery and alternator? Is it just capacitors? Anyways, thanx again all, I've only been a member here a few days now and it is definitly the best 4G Civic/CRX forum out there, thanx again. :frog:

Hey, I have a 130 AMP Alternator i got off of eBay and i am getting a new battery (optima) and i have a 1.0 digital farad capacitor by rockford fosgate. Its neat cause it has a digital display on it. I have no clue what the number means though, but i think its the voltage that comes from the battery, cause it stays around 13.4 usually.........

Well, i hope you enjoy your the forum as much as i do! i am on this forum everyday as much as possible, even though i dont post many posts, i love to read what everyone else has to say and learn a little

Where are you from?

I've had two 1400w infinity kappa perfects and a 1200w amp for a while, sounds very good. I've fixed most of the rattling, but my rear view mirror in the car still does a little and the hard plastic trim between my doors and the back windows. Any way to fix this? By the way, the spoiler won't rattle quite as much if you put some kind of foam insulation between it and the roof. Or if your spoiler itself is real bad, I might have one for sale. Let me know if this helps.

Dynamat makes this spray on insulation stuff. If you sprayed that in your spoiler it might do the trick. I donno, just trying to help.

Do your spoilers bolt on? You might want to get some rubber washers and put in between the spoiler and the body. I did this with my licence plate and it cut down on the vibration.
