Offset and spacer info needed.
As you may have read from a previous post, I'm trying to decided which wheels to put on a r32 GTR.
I've got a set a Rays with a 16 offset. Rays suggest a 23 offset for a R32 GTR. Does anyone know what the offset is measured in? Is it mm. Assuming it's mm, do I need to make up 7mm spacers or 3.5mm spacers (half for each side). I'd still like to know the offset on the standard R33 wheels if anyone knows. Or how to measure it. Thanks, |

Offset is measured in mm and is measured from the centre of the rim to where the wheel bolts to the hub. The offset will have to be adjusted according to the width of the rim.

Can I clarify this please.
If I have an offset of 16mm and the recommended for this wheel is 23mm, I will need to put a 7mm spacer on each wheel. To measure the actual offset of the wheel, I should be able to measure the total width of the wheel, then put it on a flat surface (without the tire), then measure the distance from the flat surface to the inside edge of the hub. The difference between this measurement and half the width should give me the offset. Positive offset pushes the wheel out from the car, while negative pull it closer in to the car. Is all of the above correct? Thanks for the info. |

Not quite, the more positive offset the more the wheel goes under the guard, if I can find the URL I will post it, lot of good info on offset etc.

yep thats exactly right. The wider you go the less the offset will be.

Has anyone ever heard of machining down the hub (in my case by 7mm so that the offset is right? it's looks to be a very heavy offset, so I don't think that the wheel would suffer much.
