Question serious confusion!!!

I was told that you cannot put a GTP supercharger on a GT but you can get a dry shot NOS system and that is ok. somebody please explain it to me, I understand why i cant add the supercharger, but I dont understand why the NOS is ok.

Re: serious confusion!!!

Well, you CAN put a GTP supercharger on a GT, but you'd have to change a lot of things like your PCM, intake, wiring and such, and there is a lower compression in the GTP, but it can be done. However, Im not sure about the nitrous question.

Both GTP's and GT's have been proven to respond to Nitrous very well, usually on stock blocks no higher then a 75 shot.

Adding the blower to the GT is alot of work. I think the only thing that the GTP(L67) and GT (L36) motors share is the bottem end and maybe the pistons. Intake manifolds are way different, cranks pulley, wire harness, pcm, throttle body, and I'm sure some other things would all have to be swaped in.

One of the chicago club members attempted this swap and became so frustrated that eventually he just swapped the entire motor.

I think either a motor/trans swap or a CSC blower are the best 2 options for the GT.

Re: serious confusion!!!

^^yeah i agree. i think even the pistons are different(from what iv read anyway). the gtp's are stronger so it can handle the boost...like the rest of the engine. i think it's pretty much only the block that's the same. if you're going to do one of the two, id say do the nitrous...far less expensive and a whole lot easier to install.

Re: serious confusion!!!

Yeah the gtp is built with beefer rings, rods, crank bearings, pcms, fuel injectors, wiring harness, throttle body, pulleys and so much more. I have a gt and have thought about this transfermation many times.

Re: serious confusion!!!

And also remember the fuel pumps. All that is related to the intake is different. You need more fuel to burn more air that is entering the plenum. So all the fuel delivery system is different even from the cams up. The timming if you check the options at http://www.zzperformance.com for cams swapping you'll find that the L67 cams have longer intake timming thant the L36 ones.
