I have posted this SEVERAL times here, but I guess I'll do it again. t3/t4 says nothing about the turbo. Just that it has a t3 exhaust side, and a t4 compressor side. Most of the "t3/t4" turbos cant even be compared with a 16g at all. The 16g is tiny. The largest t3/t4 is massive and will support double the power. Even the 20g is only a little bigger than the smallest t3/t4. The 16g will move similar air to a 46 trim, but its maxed out at that point and ineficient.

The correct way to ask about such a mismatched pair, is what turbo is better for a specific situation. The 16g is better for people that cant (or dont want to) afford to support a t3/t4, and go through all the learning required to run a large turbo

ok. kind of t3/t4 turbo would spool as fast as a 3vo 16g? and if there is one would it be able to give more power?

I dont think any t3/t4 will spool as quickly as a 16g, at least not with a "normal" exhaust side setup. The smallest t4 wheel people typically use is the 50 trim, and its almost invariably mated to a stage 3 wheel and .63 AR housing. That gets you to 20-25 psi before 4000 rpm, which isnt laggy if you ask me, but its still at least 500 rpm "slower" than the 16g spoolup. In my opinion, the gains you get from a 50 trim sized turbo well outweigh the extra lag. I launch at 5500 rpm, and never go below that for the whole race. So I dont even see my 4400 rpm spoolup as a problem But thats just me. Like I always say, if you are having turbo lag prblems, downshift.

Thanks for the info, the reason i would like to have the quick spool up is because i would like to get into autocross. And for what i have heard, the most t3/t4's give excellent power, but with the power comes the lag which is a big hurt on the track. don't get me wrong i would definitely like to have a quick ET but anyway.. i guess il just keep looking around.

I've seen people autox with very good success with a 20g clipped 20 degrees, lol. But if quick spool is what you need, I would stick with the EVO3 16g. Check out www.slowboyracing.com for a comparison between that and the typical big/small 16g. People are moving 44 lbs/min on that turbo, and trapping at or near 120 mph. Still spools quickly. Cheap money too, 569 last I looked. SBR and FP sell it as far as I know.

thanks for the info. one more question, if i got the evo 16g from sbr, which is a pretty damn good price, and got it ported. do you think i should get it clipped? because i thought clipping gave you more lag but more power in higher rpm's

Clipping isnt worth it. I dont think anyone has ever gained measureable power increase from it. Now, something like a TDO5 20g with a 20 degree clips is a whole other story. Thats trying to make up for an overworked turbine wheel, etc. I would just get it ported. And stick with the stock sized flapper if you plan to run over 20 psi boost (who wouldnt? )
