EVO III 16g turbo !!!!!!! buying quick quest
alright 97gst is what i got, heres the story i have a intake greddy type s bov, hks hi power exhaust wit d.p and evo o2 housing, if i was to buy the evoIII 16g turbo off SBR for $569 base price, should i upgrade to an 34 MM gate for$60 also should i do porting the inlet and outlet for 120?
ok so my question is if i bought this turbo wit the 2g install kit, and stainless oil return line kit hks turbo timer for $120 and a SBR manual boost controller for $50 and just a side modd of greddy intercooler piping kit for $180......so with all that would this make my my car noticable faster well obiusly but alot faster? the deal is i dont want to upgrade the injectors to 550cc or 650cc and the fuel pump because i dont want to lose alot of gas millage because this is my every day car. if i did do the fuel system upgrade about how many miles er gallon would i lose? last question is how much h/p, whp would i be running at around 16 psi with all of the parts i just listed!!!!!! |

Re: EVO III 16g turbo !!!!!!! buying quick quest
you couldn't run 16psi because you dont choose to upgrade the fuel system, and will be getting fuel cut!!

Your post is a mess, no offense. Like Scottsee said, you need injectors and a rewired 190 or a rewired 255 with a regulator. The good news is that your gas mileage probably won't be as bad as you think. Guys with large turbos usually have great gas mileage because they rarely enter the RPM range where the turbo is able to spool. On the other hand, the whole point of buying the Evo III is because it spools so quickly. Still, I think your gas mileage won't be horrendous. I imagine it would also depend on tuning.
It'll be cheaper if you piece the install kit together yourself, rather than buying one from a vendor. It's more work, obviously. The turbo timer won't make your car faster For that matter, the Greddy piping in itself won't yield huge gains. With the level of psi you're talking about running, the upgraded wastegate is probably a good idea. Then again, the more boost you run, the less use that wastegate sees. I think it was joematttews who said that unless you have the self restraint of a fat chick in a candy store, just keep the pedal off the floor and run more boost. Porting is a good idea, but you can do it yourself, if you want to save a few bucks. You forgot a few things. First, a boost gauge. Second, something to tune with. Third, a bigger intercooler. Assuming you tune well, you could have 350fwhp. That's pretty fast.

Install kit isn't hard to peice together. You will want a ss oil line. There are cheaper ways of fixing your air flow than blowing $200 out your ass for some greddy piping. David brode makes UICP for 78 and for an extra 10 you could get it flanged for your greddy. LICP...well I dont know much about prices for them, I bought mine used. But some very good points were made: you need some sort of tuning. The stock ecu is calibrated for the stock car. And stock injectors. And stock everything. If you don't have some way to compensate for the new parts added in (eg, 650s) your car will have some problems such as deadtime etc etc. But your list of mods looks fairly complete. If you are on a budget, shop for things that can safely be bought used, eg piping, safc. haha if you need a fuel pump I got a brand new 190 wally w/ install kit for 90 shipped. I would get the upgrade flapper to help control the boost spike. Porting is nice but pricy...Unfourtunatly after all this stuff is on, you still have one peice holding you back....your intercooler. You will want a fmic or upgrade smic asap. If you go with the FMIC do it yourself and save tons of money. @16psi my guess for WHP with all your mods and these listed you would break 320ish....turbo can do more tho, with those mods 18 should be fine, more on better gas. But this is just a guess, it will come down to your fuel tuning.

Re: EVO III 16g turbo !!!!!!! buying quick quest
Larger fuel pump and injectors doesn't decrease gas milage at all. You could run 950s on an A1000 and get 25mpg.
Power is directly related to fuel and air. If you increase air (with the 16g), your fuel will rise in exact proportion. Not upgrading your injectors only limits the air/fuel/power. Real gas savings is not being a lead foot. |

Re: EVO III 16g turbo !!!!!!! buying quick quest
joewagon's right, but only if you've managed to ajust your BFP back to its stock static pressure, and have a way to comensate for the extra flow rates of the injectors.
i didnt want him reading that and thinking "cool, i'll go buy 950's and a 80 GPH fuel pump and call it good" and then come back and get on us becasue he's getting 15mpg and no power.
