Camaro Kills Girly Eclipse

This was the funniest thing that ever happened month. I called my friend with the Camaro to pick me up from work last night. We were on our way to my house when I see this girl(high-schooler) and her Eclipse(with a banner that reads "Nopi Girl" and some fugly vinyls) pull up next to us. I know her because I raced her once myself and won. I hear her rev the engine twice. When she saw me in the passenger seat, the look on her face was priceless.

Light turn green, John stomps the pedal, and the car barks like a rabid dog. by forth gear I see the Eclipse starting to pull closer, only to get left behind as he shifts to fifth and pretty much left her about 9 car lengths back before we decide to shut down. When she pulls up next to us, she gave me this dirty look and speeds off.

I love when high-schoolers think they're faster than everyone else...It just makes you feel better when you show them that they have a long way to go .

I knew Camaros were fast, but damn...This thing took off like a F-14!

Re: Camaro Kills Girly Eclipse

I highly bought it went form 0-170mph in 1 second flat. Cause thats how the f-14 does it. But thats besid the point.

When i was in highschool i drove a 1982 BMW 320i. It was heavly modified. Custom built turbo kit and a wack load of other things. No stupid stickers or nuttin.

But there was one guy in the mechanics class who always was braggin how fast his Z28 was. And how slow all imports are. So i said well my BMW is an import fancy a go?

He accepted. So there is a long strip infront of the school. We line up and go. He had me in first gear. I didnt make any boost till 4500rpm so he got a good car length on me. But by second i flew past him. Chirped 3rd 4th and 5th. He never said imports were slower than his Z28 from then on. He just said Hondas were slower

Camaro's are nice as american cars go. Im not a big fan but they are pretty nice. Got respect for ones that are tastefull. NO BIG WINGS OR SHIT LIKE THAT PLZ.

Re: Camaro Kills Girly Eclipse

Umm im not shur of the year. i thik it was 85 but im not shur. It had thw 2 square headlights, kinda square body. Nice looking rilly. He said he had lots of engine work. Had it stroked or sumptin. Beuatiful car for a Camaro. From what i could see it had a K&N, Induction hood, MSD ignition, Holley carb i think(it was shinney), shift kit, gutted, and prob some other stuff to.

All in all a very nice car

I dont have anything against import cars(except for the VW Beetle) or muscle cars, but that was my first time riding in a Camaro. I wish my Mk. III was ready, but it won't be until sometime January or February(and my cousin says if I keep bothering him it'll never get done ). I know this girl and she's very, very, very hot(makes you wanna and and until the break of dawn), but she's 2 years younger than me. When my car gets done I'll race her again and her friend's Tiburon(it sounds mean as hell and maybe even runs faster than her). If she thought the Mk. II Supra in sleeper mode was something; just wait until she sees the Mk. III...

NICE, Well it looks like you should let her win then. Get on her good side boink her and then go for a rematch and beat her

That would be fun!

Re: Camaro Kills Girly Eclipse

F-14's don't go 0-170mph in 1 second... Maybe when launched from an aircraft carrier, but not on the runway...

the 85's were dogs as far as camaro's go...only like 190hp stock or something...

nice kill story with the eclipse too bud...

Re: Camaro Kills Girly Eclipse

Just to clarify, the Grumman F-14B/D Tomcat has 2 General Electric F110-GE-400 afterburning engines each producing 27,000lbs of thrust.
F-14's are primarly a carrier bassed aircraft, they were designed to take off and land on an aircraft carrier. At launch with 54,000lbs of thrust and a steam driven catapult the F-14 B/D Tomcat launches off the deck at 185.3 MPH during enitial testing at the General Electric test facility.

So yes they do go from 0-170 in a second.

But a good kill

You guys are all wrong.

Google is your friend.

Quote:
Catapults — The four steam-powered catapults thrust a 48,000-pound aircraft 300 feet, from zero to 165 miles per hour in two seconds. On each plane's nose gear is a T-bar which locks into the catapult's shuttle which pulls the plane down the catapult. The flight deck crew can launch two aircraft and land one every 37 seconds in daylight, and one per minute at night.

Re: Camaro Kills Girly Eclipse

Ok im not wrong. My uncle usto work for grumman. The manufacturer of the Tomcat. I have test inormation on the Tomcat. And yes the steam catapult will launch an A-6 intruder, or a F-18A to 165mph with there engines not nearly at full power.

The F-14 produces enough thrust at full afterburn to launch it to 185.3mph in 1 second.

102,000lbs of force will launch the F-14 B/D series Tomcat to the speed i mentioned.

Wrong again, any aircraft that launches from an Aircraft carrier always launches at full power. Don't you watch Discovery channel? Or Discovery Wings channel?

And, let's not start this "I know this one guy who was a friend of my Dad. His fathers landlords 2nd nephew knows this kid from down the street who knows his shit on Aircraft Carriers."

But since you started it, My cousin was an Radar Operator on the Nimitz during the Gulf War. I've been on both the Nimitz, which I got an extented tour of it when she was docked in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. And I've been aboard the USS Kittyhawk.

But enough of that... Point of the matter is the steam catapults can propell a plane from 0-165-170mph faster than we can say ... well a really big word.

Let's be thankful the USN uses steam catapults instead of... dare I say NOS.

Why in the HELL would they launch an aircraft with a catapult without running the engines at full power? Why not just crank the power on the engines up and forget the catapult altogether? The whole reason the catapults exist is because the planes can't accelerate fast enough under their own power to get airborne in the space of a carrier deck.

Actually, I touched the SR-71 Blackbird when I was like 3 years old. Was at a local airshow, they had one in a Hangar guarded by armed soldiers. They were letting little kids touch the nose antenna. Any person older than the age of like 10 years old was shot no questions asked... for 'security reasons'. Lucky me.

Best part of that airshow was when a airborn SR-71 in the area did a few fly-bys. If I remember correctly, he did one supersonic pass over the crowd. Like I said I was only like 3.... and I still remember that day like it was yesterday.

So Sweet.

Funny you should say that, since early warplanes used nitrous to get bursts of speed in emergencies
