92 camaro VS 2000 eclipse GT

ok, so my brother thinks that he can smoke my camaro with his 2000 eclipse gt 3.0 v6. It has 200hp and it is front wheel drive auto. It does not have any thing done to it it is all stock. i have my 92 rs camaro auto with the 305 tbi and after i get my headers and exhaust (flowmaster) on do you think i will have him? If not i will definently have him after i do my lt1 cam swap with my new prom and 160 thermostat, right?

Stock for stock... I'd go with him, sorry. Intake and exhaust... I dunno. Strip some dead weight outta your car and throw some good gears on there.

Re: 92 camaro VS 2000 eclipse GT

If your exaust and headers give you about 30hp, you'll be even with him hp wise, and your tq will make up for the weight disadvantage a little bit. But in the end he is probably going to edge you out. Something that'll maybe give you the edge is getting rid of that stock air filter housing for a non-drop base open air filter, that might give you the upper hand.

edit- just saw your removing ac, i'm gonna have to give the race to you but it's still gonna be close

Re: 92 camaro VS 2000 eclipse GT

you'll lose... cam, prom and stuff will make it close, but with the cam i'd bet on you... i've drove a v6 eclipse, they're not half bad, and i used to have your engine, so until the cam swap, i wouldn't even try him unless you're ready to lose

hate to be a downer and all

Re: 92 camaro VS 2000 eclipse GT

You know, things under the hood have changed alot over the years in all cars...
and the GT is the highest race package for an eclipse isnt it? Well then it only seems fare that to have bragging rights against a Camaro owner(like yourself), your brother's 2000 eclipse GT should have to beat a Camaro of the highest available racing package, of the same year
Tell your brother that he doesn't have bragging rights unless he beats a 2000 Camaro SS and see what he says to that...lol

Re: 92 camaro VS 2000 eclipse GT

i know, my brother is gay, not really but you know what i mean, and the gts is the top of the line on witht he turbo. And the z28 would be the top of the line camaro for 92 right? not my lame rs. Because the z's had the 350 tpi, oh ya. I smoked him all day long when i had my 2000 ls1 t/a. i even let him have head starts and i would smoke him.

Re: 92 camaro VS 2000 eclipse GT

hell yeah im with storm. when my 3.8 was stock i could beat one but not by much i think my car being a manuel mattered on that one. a 305, those dont have much power at all, he will kill u, hes alot lighter than u on top of everything else. even with the mods u have thats not enough... now do the cam and im sure things will get good.

in 2000 there wasn't a turbo eclipse, the v6 was the top of the line...
