Totally depends on what kinda road conditions, drivers... and whether the cars are stock.

Too many variables to say...

After seeing many of the BMI videos of the stock GTR's getting schooled by lesser cars... I'm not so impressed with the 'omg factor' of the Skyline as much as I thought I was. It's still a sweet car, stock or modified... but when a group of STI's and EVO's own a R34 GTR... you start to wonder.

There seems to be a common misconception in America [based, presumably on a certain stupid film] that the Nissan Skyline is somehow a 'miracle vehicle'.As an owner of a Skyline, and someone who has had the opportunity to drive various Skline models,I can tell you with confidence that it isn't.It's a very nice piece of engineering, from the GT-R right down to the base models, but at the end of the day,any car is only as good as the extra tweaking, and the skills of the man at the controls. You can take anyhalfway decent performance car and enhance it,but the second you change the factory settings,it becomes pointless trying to compare marque to marque. The only way to draw fair comparisons is to compare bone stock vehicles, straight off the factory lines.

thank you.

if you're talking drifting, or even Grip driving, stock for stock, the rx7 would own the skyline.

not to say that the skyline is bad, or slower, but the rx7, out of the box, is practically a race car, while the skyline is more of a luxo-super car.

it's a tough choice between the two though...

but lighter, nimbler, and faster always wins in my book...

FD would own a GT-R in drifting, since it's alot harder to drift an AWD car. it's possible, but takes more skill.

Re: debate

how do you "win" in a drift?
is it whoever goes the fastest?
is it whoever ruins their tires more?
how about who gets the most sideways.
Here's the real deal when you drift 2 cars, they both lose.

Re: debate

what?

do you know nothing about drifting?
it's judged by "style". like figure skating.

anything else?

the FD would own. end of story.

so sorry to rain on your parade.
who judges "style" anyway?
style is crap. time is the onlt thing that matters in real racing.

heres my insight
if your drift racing stock cars the skyline is going to win because of its staight away speed
but if your judging on the stuff d1 does then the rx7 would "win" because of certain suspension mods that need to be done for it to drift correclty
take ken nomura's r34 he was beaten in the quarterfinals by katsuhiro ueo's trueno
*youichi imamura drives the apex'i fd and lost to the same hachi roku in the semi finals

Re: debate

drifting isn't racing. it's not timed.
end of story.
stock for stock, the rx7 would own. it's not about straight line speed AT ALL.
nomura's r34 is a 4 door, and is rwd as well. not a gtr at all.

if you don't like drifting, DON'T COME TO THIS FREAKING FORUM.
